It's a fun, girly show with fun, girly pop songs to boot. What's not to love?
Season 1
- "Revolution" is the first song performed in the show by LoliRock and it absolutely deserves that spot, opening with a catchy guitar riff that hooks you in.
- "Best Friends Forever", the song sung by Iris in the series premiere, makes a comeback after the first episode as a proper song. And it's a fan-favorite too, with heartwarming if somewhat cheesy lyrics about friendship.
- Expository Theme Tune "Higher" also becomes a proper song, and it's a catchy electropop earworm throughout.
- "Celebrate" is sonically darker than the other songs this season, with more whispery vocals and an emphasis on bass. Fitting as Talia is the center of this one. It's even the featured song in the episode where Talia finds out her sister is alive, which definitely calls for a celebration.
- "We Are Magic" is a cute love song presumably addressed to Nathaniel, as he and Iris share a Held Gaze while Iris floats over to him during the music video.
Season 2
- "Party Talking". While most of the group's discography has been family-friendly pop up to this point, this one is a straight up EDM banger. It's Hotter and Sexier as well.
- "LoliStep" is a whole lot of fun with lyrics that tell you how to dance the titular LoliStep.
- The music video for "New Star Generation" features the girls blasting through space in a rocket-powered convertible. 'Nuff said. The outro also has a spacey, ethereal-like quality to it with its layered vocals, fitting for its subject material.
- "Reach the Stars" has an optimistic, hopeful tone to it. The song being featured in the finale of the second season only amplifies this.
- "Never Give Up" has the uplifting message of of course, never giving up, and the song is appropriately sweet to match.
- While Iris' goodbye song is a real Tear Jerker, the fact that the show went on an indefinite hiatus after the second season concluded makes it even more of one.
Score
- The transformation themes manage to both be magical and ethereal (with its background choral vocals) and hard-hitting and powerful (with its thumping drums) at the same time. Lyna's and Carissa's themes play up the "powerful" aspect.
- Even though Crystal Luxtra may be overused, the track that plays along with it reminds us how awesome it actually is.
- "Shanila Powers Revealed" is dramatic, grand and epic.
- "The Nervous Reaction" is an iconic track that every fan is sure to recognize.
