• During the celebratory party when Zachariah comes back from being stranded at sea, Mr. Lewis finally gives his wife her duly-deserved comeuppance for always beating him up by trouncing her while being emboldened by alcohol. While some persons try to stop the fight, others prevent it from being stopped because everybody knows Mrs. Lewis's nasty reputation.
• Zachariah is near death from cancer, yet he's still able to stand up to the doctor when the other man insults Carina.
• After the Parson comes to Zachariah in the latter’s moment of illness with the express purpose of gloating over his foe, Carina threatens a very graphic Groin Attack on him if he comes back and badmouths her man again.
