A good doctor, indeed.

WARNING: Unmarked spoilers.

  • In "22 Steps", the parents of an autistic patient initially refuse to let Shaun operate on him. While Shaun turns the other cheek for the most part, he gives a Bait-and-Switch insult at the end.
Shaun: You did what you thought was best for Liam. You love Liam. I didn't have that from my parents. It also means I didn't have to take kava root, so I didn't get hypereosinophilic gastroenteritis.
    • Doubles as a Take That! at parents who force their autistic children into so-called 'treatments' that are ineffectual at best and downright dangerous/lethal at worst.
  • In "Hubert", Shaun performing an autopsy on Hubert, the fish, to prove that his death was the fault of the pet store owner and so he and Lea get a new fish.
  • In "Quarantine", when the word comes down to impose quarantine on the ER, Lim grabs something from a locker before going to the waiting room and making the announcement. When a man insists that they have no right to keep people there (which they absolutely do) and attempts to leave by violent means (though he later turns out to have a good reason), Lim quickly uses the object from the locker—a syringe—to knock him out, and with steel in her voice tells the rest that no one is leaving. Awesome for the quick action and having the foresight to realize how it was likely to go down.
  • In "Quarantine, Part 2", Shaun is overwhelmed as three people loudly demand his attention during a crisis situation with lives at stake. In the past, moments like these caused Shaun to fall apart, including one just hours before that had him curled helplessly into a fetal position. This time, though, Shaun takes back control, asserts himself, demands silence, and after a moment to catch his breath, continues with the procedure and ends up saving two lives.
Shaun: No! Quiet, everyone, quiet! I need to concentrate!
  • In "Risk and Reward", the team operate on a baby with a heart defect. Their fix for this results in her heart being too strong for her lungs. There is nothing else that can be done, and the team prepares to take her off life support. At the last minute, Shaun comes up with the idea to induce a partial heart defect in order to save the baby. This is successful, and this seemingly doomed child can now live a normal life.
  • In "Believe", a woman is diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor, but Shaun notices subtle abnormalities in her tests and investigates them against Han's wishes. After finding antacids in her bag and learning that she ate at a sushi restaurant with a bad health grade, he diagnoses her with a worm infection, which is curable. Unlike "Point Three Percent", he's right.
  • "Breakdown":
    • Claire is the one who comes up with the idea on how to remove a massive tumor without the patient bleeding out.
    • When it looks like the patient can't be operated on any further, Melendez says that they need to ask Shaun for an idea. This is awesome for two reasons:
      • Han refuses at first, but Melendez puts his foot down. He says that this is his operation, so he outranks Han while in the OR.
      • The fact that Melendez, who has a huge ego and a team of about twelve surgeons, specifically requests Shaun's help. It goes to show just how good Shaun is.
    • Shaun marching into Han's office and demanding he give him back his job as a surgeon, even telling Han he will not leave until he assents to his wishes. Lessened somewhat by Shaun's resulting meltdown and Han firing him.
  • "Trampoline": The whole episode.
    • The opening: Shaun is assaulted at a bar by the Patient of the Week, but refuses to be intimidated.
    • Despite suffering internal bleeding, Shaun still correctly diagnoses the patient moments before passing out.
    • In order to figure out what Shaun's diagnosis was, Claire puts herself in his shoes. She even manages to visualize things the way Shaun does and correctly diagnoses the patient.
    • Andrews orders Han to re-hire Shaun. Han refuses and states that Andrews can't fire him because that would make him look bad to the board of directors. Andrews later proceeds to fire him in front of the board of directors.
      • Made even more badass when the Chairman protests that Andrews doesn't have the backing of the board for that decision, only for him to remind her that he doesn't need their backing, he can hire and fire whoever he pleases.
    • Andrews clearly setting aside his pride for Shaun's sake.
  • "Disaster": A small moment where Shaun catches a falling bottle of wine midair.
  • "Claire": Carly berating Claire for making Shaun worry about his relationship.
Carly: Claire, I like you, but we don't really know each other. And yet you decided how I was going to react to Shaun's questions, which isn't your business. And you were wrong. Totally, totally wrong. Shaun and I don't need you or anyone else to run interference on our relationship. Butt out.
  • "Sex and Death": Morgan comes up with a very clever procedure to save her Jerkass mother, and Glassman performs the surgery perfectly.
  • "Autopsy": The montage of Shaun and Park doing detective work to track down a patient's family. Truly great cinematography and editing.
  • "Hurt": Claire uses a beer tap to pump a patient's blood back in them, allowing her and Melendez to continue operating without a transfusion. This is called extraordinary, and Melendez says that's to be expected from Claire.
  • "I Love You": Despite all the tragedies of the episode, Shaun managed to save Vera's life despite all the obstacles and finally winning Lea's love is the perfect triumphant ending to the season.
