Awesome / Ross's Game Dungeon

Go To

  • Ross has rescued multiple games from oblivion, and he got the permission of the original creators in doing so. On a number of occasions, Ross has managed to document the endings of games which have never had their endings documented before (admittedly not all of them were his doing- in particular, Nyet 3 was beaten by a fan who then sent him the footage- but he still inspired people to go out and finally beat these games). This reached a climax in the Bip Bop II episode where not only did he play through an entire game that had never been documented before, but he then got permission from the creator to release said game as freeware, bringing it back from the brink of oblivion.
    • To give an idea of how close the game was to death, when Ross tracked it down the only known copy of it in existence was the developer's own copy, which had spent the past twenty years stored on a set of floppy disks!
  • Ross calling out EA for their corruption and them "killing games." As of Darkspore, he's leading a campaign to stop EA (and other publishers, but EA is the biggest offender) from killing games.
  • The developers of Strife: Veteran Edition apparently watched his video on the game, because two of his complaints were fixed in it (though that could just be a coincidence).
  • Ross's "The Reason You Suck" Speech regarding Wolfenstein (2009), not for being a bad game (which it isn't), but for being so bland, tedious, and committee-designed that it's impossible to care about.
  • Some of the developers or people associated with the games Ross reviews find the videos and leave comments revealing more details about the game and their involvement with the game's creation.
  • Ross's inability to speak German inspired a fan, Barry Rowe, to create software that can translate video game text into your desired language as you play, allowing No Export for You games like the one that inspired its creation to be played by everyone around the world who didn't get them. Ross rightfully calls this a milestone in gaming history.
Ross: I mean, really, this is all Barry. I'm just the loudspeaker. But man, we've got some causality goin' on here: Since I showed Nyet 3, you guys beat it, then I showed the ending, which led to Barry unlocking it for us! And I guess this all works because nobody had to time travel to do this! Whatever, gaming history's getting made now. I'm excited.
  • Ross breaks out a fantastic Peter Lorre impression during the Veil of Darkness episode.
