General
- The fact that Xie Lian had ascended three times is an incredible feat on his own, with his arrival being so powerful it shakes the heavens itself. It's later stated the reason he ascended was due to his skills as a swordsman.The Flower-Crowned Martial God; Sword in One Hand, Flower in the Other. Shi Qingxuan only remembered the flower but had forgotten. Xie Lian had ascended because of his sword.
- Despite being treated as a fool by most of the Heavenly Court, Xie Lian is very perceptive and figures out a lot of the mysteries in the story when he's given enough time and evidence.
Main Story
Ghost Bridegroom Arc
- Even when he's handicapped with two cursed shackles, Xie Lian is still plenty powerful as he uses Ruoye to incapacitate his enemies.
- The story of Hua Cheng challenging 35 Heaven Officials and managing to beat 33 of them. When they don't comply with their side of the deal he simply burns down all of their temples in a single night, leaving them severely weakened. This in turn leads humans to worship Hua Cheng instead of the other gods, which even led to some crudely named plays that boast of Hua Cheng's power and the gods being useless to stop him.
- Xie Lian figures out that the ghost bridegroom wasn't real, and instead realizes it was a ghost bride who was also scorned by a heavenly official.
Ban Yue Arc
- Although every attempt is Played for Laughs, Fu Yao and Nan Feng trying to expose San Lang as a demon or ghost all end in failure as none of their items have an effect or are inexplicably broken.
- San Lang nimbly and willingly jumps into the pit that is filled with powerful ghosts. But once Xie Lian gets to the bottom the entire pit that had screams emanating from it had been silent since San Lang arrived. Why? Everyone in there was killed, with a light overhead later showing the corpses strung across the floor.
Ghost City Arc
- Xie Lian stops Lang Qianqiu and Hua Cheng's sword fight in two moves, blocking both blades and absorbing both attacks.
- Lang Qianqiu finally recognizes Xie Lian as his former teacher and challenges him to a duel. He even tells him he knows he's ambidextrous, so his power wouldn't diminish no matter which hand he used.
- Xie Lian takes out Lang Qianqiu with Ruoye tying him up, stating that due to his loophole, he did defeat him in a "fight to the death". While Lang Qianqiu yells that Xie Lian should fight him seriously, Xie Lian drops a Badass Boast:Xie Lian: Fight me, and you will for sure die.
- Lang Ying manages to stab Xie Lian, when it should have been impossible to hurt a god. Apparently, he was shrouded by a king's aura, which meant Xie Lian could no longer kill him. Even when Xie Lian changed to fist-fighting, nothing seemed to faze Lang Ying.
- Quan Yizhen goes toe to toe with Pei Ming who was already a powerful general in his mortal life, with Xie Lian noting that had Quan Yizhen been fighting anyone else, they would have been turned into a bloodied pulp.
Ghost Fetus Arc
- Xie Lian quickly deduces that it was a fetus spirit who was attacking this family and coming up with a plan to capture it.
Black Water Arc
- Xie Lian quickly deduces and pieces together the story of how the Venerable of Empty Words is targeting Shi Qingxuan and what has led to Shi Qingxuan's wrongfully ascending through someone else's fate due to Shi Wudu's meddling.
- While it's terrifying, He Xuan didn't succumb to Shi Qingxuan's Venerable of Empty Words and instead absorbed the creature which led to him becoming a Calamity-level ghost and earning the name "Black Water Sinking Ships". He also managed to disguise himself as Ming Yi for hundreds of years undetected and spy on the Heavenly Court.
- Shi Wudu faces his Heavenly Calamity and is easily holding his own until the group, unfortunately, drifts towards He Xuan's lair and is attacked by his dragon-bone fish.
- Although it leads to his immediate decapitation, Shi Wudu refuses to apologize to He Xuan as he stares down the man whose life he had ruined in exchange for his brother's ascension.
- While it ends with his death, Shi Wudu does get the last laugh as he tells He Xuan while he was wallowing in misery for the past centuries, he and his brother had a better life as they lived in prosperity in that time.
First Fall
- Xie Lian, after being given his straw hat by the farmer on the road, finally stands up to White No Face who attempts to once more unleash the Human Face Disease on the world again. This time, he curses at White No Face, but with more confidence as he refuses to go through with it.Xie Lian: I SAID FUCK YOU!!! WHO DO YOU THINK YOU ARE, TO DARE TALK TO ME LIKE THIS?! I AM THE CROWN PRINCE!!!
Siege of the Heavenly Capital Arc
- Jun Wu's backstory and how he attempted the impossible of bringing everyone in his kingdom up into the Heavens by his own strength alone. He even built a bridge that managed to hold for a lot of the citizens of Qu Young for a long time. While his story ends in tragedy, his power even before he became the leader of the heavens is something to be awed at.
- How did Hua Cheng ascend to the power he has today? He apparently got trapped in the Kiln with a bunch of civilians and was going mad as he nearly went to kill them. However, he instead tears out his eye and puts it into his saber, which soon births E-Ming. This act of his caused him to ascend into a god, but he just as quickly rejected it and became a Calamity level ghost instead.
Final Battle
- Hua Cheng and Xie Lian fighting side by side against Jun Wu with Hua Cheng even shattering Xie Lian's shackles which makes him even stronger than Jun Wu.
