    • “Is that right?”
    • "Let it be."

The Good Times by Ayam_Cemani

  • Recommended by: eeveelutionlover2000
  • Status: Oneshot
  • Synopsis: Xie Lian still isn’t quite sure who ‘she’ is. That little girl he handed a measly mouthful so she wouldn’t eat his cooking off the ground. He only knows sort of what she looks like. He knows she’s definitely a street kid in her tattered robes- Desperate and hungry. He knows she’s alone from the way she clings to his shadow. He knows she hasn't stopped following since that day either. [] Around the corner Xie Lian goes on his lonely patrol. He could have passed this duty on to one of the other soldiers, but they were only human. They needed the rest more than he did. Just like that girl did. [] Somewhere behind, time suspends itself with a harsh breath and a soft thud of a body with too little fat to protect it. She’s run the wall a little too hard.

A Gift of Silver by Kingfisher Prince

  • Recommended by: eeveelutionlover2000
  • Status: Complete
  • Synopsis:
Every morning, without fail, Hua Cheng asked Xie Lian to do his hair. It was such a common occurrence that really, he didn’t even need to ask anymore. As soon as they got past the sappy, indulgent, morning kisses and cuddles part of the day to the ‘actually getting up’ part, Xie Lian was already reaching for a comb and hair tie. Hua Cheng still always asked though, perhaps because he enjoyed the simple pleasure of being able to.

Xie Lian certainly liked being asked. It was an easy sort of reassurance, that affection could be given and received so easily between them. That they were learning to accept a soft touch after so long alone.

As Xie Lian dug their beautiful wooden comb through his husband's more beautiful black locks, he was drawn away from the rhythmic motions by the easy voice of the other.

“Gege, I was wondering. Can I do your hair next?”

Hua Cheng gives Xie Lian a little something extra to wear to the Heavenly Court. It gets some questionable reactions.

    • Summary: Ghosts won't stop giving Xie Lian flowers, Hua Cheng won't stop teasing, and Xie Lian is out here doing his best, man.
    • Xie Lian is momentarily frozen. Outside of heaven, no one calls him Highness except in jest, and there was a time people threw flowers at his feet as if to make a carpet for him to walk upon, but those years are long past. “Thank you. This is a—a princely gift.”
    • The spirit’s black-pit eyes go wide and then he grins, revealing long, wicked teeth the color of tarnished silver. “Yes! Yes, I knew it was meant for his Highness.” The spirit nods to Hua Cheng, too, whose grin has widened to something almost obscene.
    • “Truly,” Hua Cheng agrees.

    • Warning: none apply
    • Status: Complete

    • Xie Lian feigned a contemplative look. “Oh, who knows? Probably trying to figure out how to enter the world wide web or work a VHS machine or one of those other newfangled things…”
    • “Huh. Well I think he’s still out there, using his powers to help orphans!”
    • Xie Lian sniffed, then ruffled Ban Yue’s hair and pinched her cheek. “If you say so, Ban Yue. But remember, it is just a story. Xie Lian isn’t real, and neither is Halloweentown.” He clapped his hands together. “Okay! Time to go to bed! Granduncle Hua’s gonna go do some scrap collecting, alright?”
    • (Only, before Xie Lian can go scrap collecting, he's called on an important mission to Halloweentown, and, instead of going to sleep, Ban Yue follows him for the adventure of her life!)

    • Summary: San Lang’s fingers ghost down the nape of his neck, reverent and hesitant, leaving a tingling trail that keeps on burning. In slow, long, purposeful strokes, he writes a story of adoration on the canvas of Xie Lian’s skin.
    • His hands slow down when he brushes against the bandages wrapped around Xie Lian’s neck. Xie Lian stiffens involuntarily; then those hands come to rest on his shoulders, grounding and comforting. What would it feel like if San Lang were to venture lower, down his back and sides, what if he untied the worn-out silk and let his fingers trace the line of the shackle hidden beneath it, what if—
    • Xie Lian takes a deep breath and thinks of the Ethics Sutra.
