Awesome / Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog

Go To

  • In the opening to "Robotnikland", Robotnik beans Sonic with a monkey wrench mid-Spin Attack.
  • Sonic and Tails defeating Supreme High Robotnik (who has all four Chaos Emeralds) with four versions of themselves from the previous episodes in the story arc.
    • Robotnik actually getting that far is something of an accomplishment for him, especially in the manner he outsmarts Sonic four consecutive times over to steal them before handily defeating Sonic and Tails in their first bout. Not-So-Harmless Villain indeed.
    • Tails gets a short but epic one in "Hedgehog of the Hound Table", where he manages to snatch the Chaos Emerald of Invincibility, and upon being accosted by Scratch and Grounder, promptly uses it to transform into a giant uber-muscular fox. He then utterly thrashes Scratch and Grounder.
  • Sonic's escape from Robotnik's Tailor-Made Prison in "Sonic Breakout", where it's one of the big times he uses his smarts rather than his physicality to win. He does so using a poster of himself that he got free in his issue of Crack-ups, sticking it to Grounder's back while he and Scratch are distracted by the same comic — which he pretended was a new issue he'd just received as a gift from the creator, whom he'd visited in his cell earlier — letting them be targeted by the prison's lethal high-tech security systemnote  instead, then simply taking the keys from them afterward to unlock his shackles and walk out unaccosted.
Sonic: (to the audience) Well, I may be taller than this. But I think they got my hedgehog blue color juuuuuuust right!
  • "Grounder The Genius" gives Grounder a day in the limelight when he gets an intelligence-boosting computer chip implanted in his head. His increased smarts cause him to take a level in badass as well as intelligence; not only does he concoct a successful plan to capture Sonic, he ends up overthrowing Robotnik while calling him out on his abusive behaviour. And he outwits Sonic again when he sees through the hedgehog's ploy to turn his own lightning weapon against him with a fake award!
  • In "Robotnik's Rival" when Sonic and Tails are captured, they escape by convincing Scratch and Grounder that they already escaped and that what the two are looking at are just holograms.
  • "Mass Transit Trouble" is a pretty epic episode.
    • Despite being the most comedic depiction of the character, Robotnik's plan proves he's a Not-So-Harmless Villain. He has his minions attack three different locations far away from each other as a cover for planting bombs at said locations, which are set to go off at the same time.
    • Sonic truly earns his title of "Fastest Thing Alive" by managing to go each location twice, despite the strain it puts on him. Especially when he tunnels through the entire planet to reach the last bomb, finds it, swims out into the ocean, and throws it far enough that it explodes harmlessly against an iceberg, all within 15 seconds.
    • Tails, despite spending most of the episode as The Load, pulls a Big Damn Heroes afterwards by rescuing Sonic when he finally submits to exhaustion in the ocean, and then flying him to safety.
    • Even Scratch, Grounder, and Coconuts get one for successfully planting the bombs, escaping their initial capture, and even working ahead of the plan to try and trip Sonic onto a bomb while he's in a hurry. Granted, it didn't pan out for them in the end, but still; props to them for thinking ahead.
  • Coconuts' Not So Harmless introduction in "Super Special Sonic Search and Smash Squad". Furious at being demoted because of Scratch and Grounder, he is determined to get back in Robotnik's graces by pulling out a gargantuan mech and going Ax-Crazy with it. Extra points since he beats Sonic at his game and lured him in with a disguise.
  • Tails gets a great moment to shine in "Tails In Charge". After he inadvertently causes Sonic to get shot by a ray that turns him to stone, Tails spends the entirety of the episode defending the now helpless Sonic from Scratch and Grounder, culminating in him successfully baiting them to get the ray (getting shot by it whilst turned to stone undoes the effect) and curing Sonic's condition. All by himself. Not bad for a supposed four year old.note
  • The "Zoobotnik" episode takes the cake for the best — not to mention, the absolute cruellest — prank Sonic has ever played on Robotnik. He disguises himself as a justice of the peace, marries Robotnik off to Katella, and then invites Mama Robotnik to the wedding.
  • In "Sonic the Matchmaker," Robotnik declares he wants a wife and insists any woman would be proud to marry him. Scratch and Grounder, in perhaps the only time the two of them ever willingly disagree with Robotnik, give him condescending and disbelieving glares, as if to silently point out "Yeah, that's definitely not true". And what's more, Robotnik actually concedes to them and decides to build a wife instead.
  • "Momma Robotnik Returns" has Robotnik and Coconuts team up to get Robotnik's fortress back and save Sonic in the process by contacting a social worker and revealing Momma Robotnik disowned her son, so her adoption of Sonic is null and void.
  • The end of "Sonic is Running" has Mama Robotnik reveal that after badgering her son into running for president, she didn't vote for him because of how incompetent he was. Robotnik then says that makes him feel better about betraying her, and has her carted off to the Mobius Home For Really Bizarre Mothers again.
  • The partial Clip Show "Hero of the Year" has Sonic surrender to stop Robotnik from drowning his friends by sinking a yacht, only for Robotnik to lie and set the yacht to sink anyway, with Sonic trapped at the bottom of the ocean in an escape-proof cell that would cut off his oxygen supply if anyone tried to save him.
