Pat and Amy also known in as Pat-chan and Amy-chan or Love and Bloom Warriors Pat-chan and Amy-chan is a Japanese-American YouTube Magical Girl series based off the DeviantArt manga of the same name by Anaya Roberts Rush. The creator was inspired by anime such as Sailor Moon and Cutey Honey and the series includes nods to these shows. Patty’s skull shaped earring, the Skull Boomerang, is a nod to Cutie Honey’s Honey Boomerang and Sailor Moon’s Moon Tiara Action.Tropes:
- Adaptational Badass: while she is timid in Ghastly Prince Enma: Burning Up, Harumi becomes less of afraid to fight and can kick some ass.
- Attack of the 50-Foot Whatever: Akira from Devilman goes on a rampage and becomes gigantic.
- Battle Boomerang: Patty’s skull shaped earring, called the Skull Boomerang, can hit enemies at will.
- Breaking the Fourth Wall: When Patty and her friends meet Vegeta again, she says, "Even a character from a 1980’s Shonen manga can be powerful!
- In the Name of the Moon: The girls tells a enemy ”We are the warriors, soldiers, heroes, and princesses of love and justice”.
- Shout-Out:
- When the girls and Honey hope there is no enemy on Lunar New Year, they reference Mazinger Z and say, “Maybe a giant robot can save the day."
- One episode has Rini/Chibiusa’s friend Momo act like Dora the Explorer and ask the audience questions just for comedy.
- The Cameo: Limit-chan from Miracle Shojo Limit-chan appears in the first episode of Season 2 when she helps Patty and her friends defeat Vegeta, and Tickle from Majokko Tickle appears in a background of a school when Patty mentions she has to sit there in school and be bored.
- Transformation Sequence: Like in the anime Sailor Moon, Patty and her friends( minus Honey/ Cutey Honey) have chroma-key silhouettes on their bodies as they transform.
- Adaptational Nice Girl: while Chibiusa was bratty in Sailor Moon, she in this anime and manga is more of a nice and sweet girl and less of a brat.
- You Are Better Than You Think You Are: When Honey cries when Muzan tells her if she doesn’t give the Atmospheric Element Solidifier/ The Airborne Element Fixing Device, she will lose her memories and believe herself as a human and not an android and Patty and the girls comfort her by saying they love her no matter what she is, human or no human.
