TEG 2 Chapter 4: A Very Special Episode

Written By: Ebony
POV: Third person

This time, Ebony's writing, since Thomas is out. Ebony, on Thomas's request, mentions baptism

Jason walks with Leo and Thalia as the latter two talk about a Bible story (the fact that it's not specified which one it is makes it something of a first for this fic), and he enjoys the breeze and the company of his friends. It's a somewhat touching moment, although the author does remind us that one of those friends is Jesus Christ, making it clear that it also advances their agenda.

The three had driven to Washington DC to meet with someone Chiron said would help them find out the identity of the traitor, although Chiron, for no apparent reason, was quite vague about the informant's identity.

Jason sorts through the identity of everyone he met at the camp, wondering which of them is the traitor. He wants to find out as soon as possible, but he also wants the right person, so that he doesn't end up killing someone innocent. This is certainly more than can be said for Jerry, who had his wife brutally executed for adultery (she survived, but that's another matter)... ...or Leo, who has been constantly insisting that Luke has been the traitor for the past five days (he is the traitor in canon, but that's one of many things the fic doesn't get right, making this a hilarious Fandom Discontinuity Nod ). Thalia then has to remind Leo of Luke's exemplary record, and suggests that the traitor is someone less committed, possibly someone who skips church or does pot, the latter of which apparently applies to some of the campers. I've noticed that most cases in which The Mole infiltrates an organization, they try to be a valued member, or at least a decent one. In any case, Leo apologizes, saying that the "blame game" gets them nowhere.

Out of nowhere, a vampire attacks. Thelia tries to banish the vampire back to Hell,, but it is "otiose," a surprisingly obscure word that is used correctly. The vampire laughs it off, declaring in improper Ye Olde Butcherede Englishe (it's bad enough that "Thy" is used as a first person pronoun) that it won't work, and saying that only a strike to the heart will defeat her. Jason, who apparently wasn't listening, doesn't know what to do for a moment, but repels her with a cross.

Thalia thanks Jason, believing that she couldn't have defeated the vampire. She says that stronger demons are attacking the Prayer Warriors, and said demons are resistant to their prayers, and, as the vampire said are only vulnerable to being stabbed in the heart. She decides to find and kill the vampire before she can attack again.

Unfortunately, most of the locals are "unaware or completely oblivious" about the vampires, so they decide to pray to God and hope that he sends them a message while they sleep.

Before they go to bed, though, they encounter a family that hasn't baptized their one month old child yet. Leo does so, while Ebony explains that because a child is conceived through sex and sex is a sin, they must baptize the child to cleanse him of that sin.

Next Installment: The Prayer Warriors deal with the vampires in the White House.
