Duel 15: The Other Criminal
(Yugi's room)
Yugi: Previously, the mysterious Egyptian named Shadi claimed there was another Yugi inside of me, and that there was another secret to the Millenium Puzzle. He was also saying something about punishing a criminal, but that probably doesn't concern me.
Sugoroku: Better come downstairs, the news is on, and as you know, the lead story is always important to us personally.
Reporter (voiceover): As we saw in the previous chapter, museum owner Kanekura died in his office. Supposedly he died of shock, but this station has learned that evidence supports our theory that he was killed by a cursed mummy. We advise our viewing audience to beware of anyone wrapped in bandages and smelling of tanna leaves. This has been Channel 9 Your News.
Yugi: Is there really such a thing as a mummy's curse, Grandpa?
Sugoroku: Well, back in 1923, there were such rumors involving the discovery of King Tut's tomb. Several people supposedly died mysteriously after an Egyptian man with a pair of scales was seen in the neighborhood. But it's probably all a bunch of hooey. I'm more worried about my friend who was also on that expedition, Professor Yoshimori.
Yugi: Wait, Shadi said there was one more person he had to punish...naah, couldn't be.
Sugoroku: I'm going over to his lab tonight to cheer him up.
Yugi: I'll go too. My "this is necessary for the plot" sense is tingling.
(outside)
Yugi: Anzu, Jonouchi!
Jonouchi: "Channel 9 Your News" had a story on Kanekura's death.
Anzu: We came over to help you investigate.
Sugoroku: Even though if there is a curse, it'd probably be dangerous, I see no problem in letting you kids come along.
Jonouchi: C-c-curse?
Anzu: You do realize this is the Twentieth Century, right?
Yugi: Maybe you guys should stay here where it's safe.
Anzu: Just because Jonouchi's a scaredy-cat doesn't mean you have to protect us, Yugi.
Jonouchi: Besides, my infallible good guy detection system says Yoshimori's a good guy and we should help him.
(Archaeology Lab)
Yoshimori: I remember how the native workers found a way into the tomb, then I performed the "discovery." And shaking hands with Kanekura. And now he's dead and looking really ugly.
(mysterious noise)
Yoshimori: GAAH!! Oh, just my imagination. I hope Mutou brings his grandson over soon. He always knows such delightful games.
Shadi: Sucker, you just fell for my "unseen" trick. Now I will put you on trial for tomb raiding. But first, I'll unlock your mind with the Millenium Key to see if there's anything worth taking.

(inside Professor Yoshimori's mind)
Shadi: Lots of books and dusty old things, like you'd expect from an archaeologist. The dustiest thing in here, though, is this picture of his family. Hope he remembered to pay up his insurance. Wait, there's a faint light of hope over there.
Shadi: It's Yugi! Coming to visit, eh? Before I kill Yoshimori, I'll use him as a puppet in a sick game to test Yugi's powers. After all, tomb raiding is evil, but mind control to the point of death is morally okay. Marionette Design!
(outside Domino University)
Sugoroku: We've arrived at the Archaeology building.
Anzu: No lights. Must've had a budget cut again.
(hallway)
Jonouchi: This place really creeps me out.
Anzu: Are you still on about curses?
Jonouchi: No, I just don't like schools.
Yugi: You'll depress Professor Yoshimori even more if you go in looking like that.
Jonouchi: I'm smiling!
(lab)
Anzu, Jonouchi, Sugoroku & Yugi: We're here!
Yoshimori: Come in, hehehe. Pay no attention to my eyes not focusing.
Jonouchi: Sure glad to see you smiling, considering what happened at the museum.
Anzu: How do those new sneakers taste, Jonouchi?
Yoshimori: Kanekura is dead. That's funny. Hehehe.
Jonouchi: There's something wrong with you, isn't there, Professor?
Yoshimori: Nothing. I was just waiting for Yugi. Here, let me massage your neck.
Jonouchi: *glurk*
Shadi: Please excuse my puppet's poor massage technique.
Yugi: Could Shadi be responsible for Professor Yoshimori's odd behavior?
Shadi: If my theory is correct, endangering your friend will bring out the other Yugi. Either that, or make you turn into the Hulk.
