Yes, it's as goofy as it sounds!]]

* {{Tear Jerker}}: Shining Cure Dream and Mushiban's goodbye in Yes! Precure 5 Go! Go! Movie.

* MoralEventHorizon ([[spoiler:Turning Urara's memento of her deceased mom into a Kowaina? Die, Girinma, DIE!]])

* PortmanteauSeriesNickname: Though it was common before, this series, particularly with its caption-less logo, made it look quite likely that both "Pretty Cure" and "Precure" are canon, both for the name of the series and for the name of the group. The fansubs still use the "it's always Pretty Cure" approach, but another group that briefly expressed interest mentioned that they would use the "literal translation depending on what's used" method instead. Of course, since the latter group's ''[=YPC5=]'' project seems to have vanished off the face of the earth...

* NightmareFuel (One episode sees each member of the team undergo MindRape; Urara gets visited by a mirror twin of herself that crawls out of the mirror and expresses an [[ScrewYourself unhealthy fascination towards her]], and Komachi gets swallowed by thousands of very little and ''very'' creepy Komachi plush dolls. This climaxes in a [[TheReveal Reveal]] of a {{brainwashed}} Pretty Cure team wearing irremovable "sad-face" masks.)
** I ''was'' going to make a pun along the lines of "NightmareFuel: [[IThoughtItMeant Not to be confused]] with the masks that the Nightmare Group use to make the MonsterOfTheWeek", but the Black Kowaina masks are pretty damn scary: designed to be worn by a person rather than an inanimate object, one of these masks transforms the wearer into a OneWingedAngel version of their usual [[VoluntaryShapeshifting alternative form]], but they [[SuperpoweredEvilSide lose their sanity in the process]] and become [[BrainwashedAndCrazy mindless berserkers]]. And this process is ''irreversible''.
** In fact, episodes 23 and 24 are completely loaded with NightmareFuel, what with the terrifying mini-Komachis, the Urara duplicate that clearly wanted to [[ScrewYourself rape Lemonade]], and the evil child-Rin with the SlasherSmile. And then Girinma ''willingly'' put on a mask that turned him into a monsterous insect and Kawarino was making the most terrifying facial expressions ''ever'' and then all of them had the sad-looking masks on and then they fell into the pit and then Kawarino's face got even ''scarier''.... Even for Japan, this seems like a little much for a MagicalGirl, doesn't it?

** Nozomi: Donut (for Cure Dream's ring-shaped {{odango}}s)... that is, until they actually introduced a character called Donut.
** Rin: Cure [[RougeAnglesOfSatin Rogue]], [[DigimonFrontier Agunimon-chan]].

** Urara: Cream Horn (for Cure Lemonade's hair), Cure Pine-Sol, Urarararara.
** Karen: [[{{Oba-san}} Babaa]], [[FutariWaPrettyCure Honoka Bitchy Edition]].

* BaseBreaker: Some fans hate Milk for her [[{{Tsundere}} heavy tsuntusn]] tendencies towards Nozomi and tendency to get underfoot and cause trouble for Pretty Cure, especially around the time of her debut. Others are not bothered by this as much and/or point out her character development during the first season. Having a good deal of LesYay with Karen, especially as Kurumi during ''[=GoGo=]'' also helps her standing in the fanbase.

* DieForOurShip (Coco and Nuts, just for being male, and before Nuts had an implied relationship with ''anyone''; also, Crepe, once she was announced to be betrothed to Coco and thus get in the way of both the canon ship and the yaoi fangirls' favourite ship)
