* CultClassic: Much like Platinum's other games, The Wonderful 101 has headed into this direction. Despite poor sales at launch on Wii U, the Kickstarter campaign for Switch/PC/PS4 remasters reach its initial funding goal within 20 minutes.

This is mostly chocked up to be the result of the game doing a pretty poor job of explaining it's myriad systems in tutorials, and it's SurpriseDifficulty turning away many casual players. As time has gone on, many have returned to the game with newfound respect for it's incredibly deep gameplay, it's unconventional and unique design, it's ''incredible'' {{HSQ}}, and for the amount of sheer effort Platinum Games put into making this game as good as it could be. Also helping is a number of reviews from people like MatthewMatosis and the Super Best Friends, who hail it as a classic and not to be missed. It got the point where a port to the Nintendo Switch has been asked about frequently after the Switch received ports for ''VideoGame/DonkeyKongCountryTropicalFreeze'' and other Wii U classics.

** WebVideo/GameXplain is getting just as bad for giving the game a 2.5/5 stars. The video review scored a lot of thumbs down and backlash from YouTube users. To elaborate, the review consisted of complaints about things that were "unclear" but actually explained in the game if one bothered to look, and a number of outright falsehoods. For example, they complained about using the gamepad to draw Unite Morphs but didn't acknowledge the possibility of using the right stick. They also criticized the "lack" of camera control and said the L and R buttons were unused. Note that ''L and R adjust the camera.''

* ThatOneAchievement: The "Punch-Out!", bottlecap, which is gotten by finishing either [[spoiler: giant robot boxing match which play like the game the achievement is named after]] without taking any damage. Not that hard in theory, but there's 2 things that make it needlessly difficult: the last checkpoint before the first said segment is a drawn out 2-minute tutorial segment that can't be skipped and which you have to replay every time you screw up even once (not counting the loading times), and while there's a Kahkoo-Regah that only has the said segment without the tutorial, it doesn't count, and the said bottlecap is required to unlock one character directly and another by proxy. Thankfully, there's 2 ways around this: you can play the level on Very Easy, which makes it so that you can just keep attacking repeatedly and not get countered as you normally would and eventually win the fight, or just use one of the recently-revealed {{Classic Cheat Code}}s to unlock the character and several others the same way you could unlock some hard-to-get items in VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}.

Thankfully, there's 2 ways around this: you can play the level on Very Easy, which makes it so that you can just keep attacking repeatedly and not get countered as you normally would and eventually win the fight, or just use one of the recently-revealed {{Classic Cheat Code}}s the cheat codes to unlock the character and several others the same way you could unlock some hard-to-get items in VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}}.

* CultClassic: Much like Platinum's other games, The Wonderful 101 has headed into this direction. Though not quite as big of a cult classic like their other games like VideoGame/{{Bayonetta}} or VideoGame/{{Vanquish}}, it does have a following among fans of the Character Action genre.

** "Team, Unite Up!"
Up!" [[labelnote: Explanation]]Wonder-Red's usual battle-cry before leading the rest of the Wonderful 100 into a fight.[[/labelnote]]
** Diplomacy has failed!failed! [[labelnote: Explanation]]A common phrase also said by Wonder-Red any time a GEATHJERK officer doesn't take Will's peace offer...which, [[{{Jerkass}} given the kind of group they're fighting against]], gets quite a ''lot'' of mileage.[[/labelnote]]

* BaseBreakingCharacter: Wonder-Pink is disliked by some, due to her blatant fanservice or disliking her voice or finding her crush on Vorkken annoying. However, other like her very much for being an eccentric parody of TheChick, a competent ActionGirl, and attractive to boot.
