* MarySuetopia: Krypton is arguably this, being a ridiculously advanced society whom even Asgard mourned when they went extinct, and even decades after their deaths, even the merest scrap of Kryptonian technology is bitterly fought over by the rest of the galaxy. While Krypton was definetly very advanced in the comics, it was never portrayed nearly this positively.
* MoralEventHorizon: Arcade. Kidnapping his classmates: bad. Teaming up with the Joker: really bad. : Moral Event Horizon.

Not YMMV and YMMV can't be played with.

* CharacterShilling: For both Clark and Allison, throughout the first three books in particular. Clark was, to some degree, understandable, being Superman. Allison, on the other hand, became TheScrappy, though she may have been RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap by the events of Book 3. The jury is still out.

* DesignatedVillain: Zig-Zagged with the North Korean diplomat. On one hand, we're supposed to dislike him because he's... well, from UsefulNotes/NorthKorea. On the other hand, he makes several valid arguments, and the story acknowledges them as such.

Now Flame Bait and Darth.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The Runaways/Gibborim plot; as previously stated, the Gibborim were a very AntiClimaxBoss, but on top of that, the heroes realised too quickly that the Runaways were innocent. An interesting plot could have been made out of the Runaways having to defend themselves from the League and the X-Men while the heroes realised over time that the kids had been framed by their parents, as opposed to Cyborg having worked that out already before the start of the chapter and relaying that discovery to his old friends.
* WhatAnIdiot: Duncan stupidly punched Superman in the face when it was clear his attempts at racist bullying weren't working...and broke his hand in the process while Superman was completely unfazed.
** Cadmus fiddles with a piece of Kryptonian technology despite not knowing anything about it, and end up nearly dragging the Earth into a black hole while also causing the release of .
*** Though it was Mary Storm who was responsible for tampering it.
** The Friends of Humanity in general fall into this trope due to several factors, including countless examples of BullyingADragon, having no members within their ranks who can match the heavy-hitters of the Justice League in a fight, , having comparatively primitive weaponry, and being overall dumbasses in general. Really, it's a wonder how they lasted as long as they did when, compared to the Big Bads of the series, they're nothing but a joke.

They immediately chose the former without hesitation.
