* EnsembleDarkhorse: Perhaps befitting his element"Surprise!", the Fuchsia Ninja got a surprisingly high amount of attention after he showed up in the last few seconds of one of the clips Warner posted before the premiere. It's possible that his popularity resulted in the show getting its own Fuschia Ninja (albeit having no element).

* FridgeHorror: The warehouse that serves as the ninjas' base is shown to have once belonged to a company called Brick Recycling whose motto is "Remake your world over and over". Was this company once responsible for restoration efforts to the city after Garmadon's attacks, and since the warehouse had closed down before the ninjas set up their base there, did they eventually give up on trying to restore the city knowing that Garmadon would just attack it again?

Uncanny Valley is IUEO now and the subjective version has been split; cleaning up misuse and ZCE in the process

* UncannyValley: For the most part, Meowthra looks very realistic and well-animated (it helps that Creator/AnimalLogic is a visual effects studio first and foremost, meaning they have experience making realistic animal movements), but there are some shots where the cat looks a little off, mostly during close-ups and in certain lighting.

** The film has a joke about the "Element of Surprise" belonging to the Fuchsia Ninja. Later, the series would feature an actual Fuchsia Ninja, though he lacked elemental powers.

** In this film, Garmadon led an oddly shark-themed army, despite the undead and snakes being more of his thing in the series. Cue the Seabound season later in the series, which has the sea-themed villain Kalmaar and his army to fight the Ninja with.

* ContinuityLockout: Zig-zagged. The filmmakers wanted to keep the film in the continuity of the Lego movie worlds so as not to alienate those that have never seen the TV series. Despite this however, many in-jokes and lines from the film won't make sense to an average viewer unless they're familiar with the source material, and the characters themselves are clearly introduced under the impression that the audience would already know who they were. Due to the Ninjago characters not being as well-known or as iconic as Batman, or just LEGO in general, this unfortunately worked against the film for many viewers.

** WesternAnimation/TheLEGOMovie home media releases included a short about the making of a Ninjago version of the movie, Enter the Ninjago. Now, The LEGO Ninjago Movie boasts several differences from the ninja's TV adventures, and grossed less than each theatrical LEGO film released before and after it.The short seems especially spot-on when the executive uses "physical comedy/pratfalls and cute, furry animals" as selling points.

** One of Jackie Chan's previous movies, Film/NewPoliceStory, had a fight scene set in a LEGO exhibit. Both films even have a green LEGO dragon.

** The TV show's pilot had some of the villains discuss whether the plural form of "ninja" has an s at the end, before deciding that it doesn't. The movie seems to forget such.
** Lloyd losing an arm turns into this when you realise that Creator/JamesFranco, brother of Lloyd's VA, Dave Franco, went through the same thing.
** For that matter, James Franco was the Green Goblin and his brother from another mother was Film/TheGreenHornet, so obviously Dave had to be the Green ninja.

** Want to own all the sets made to tie in with the film? Be ready to shell out upwards of $600.
** The cheapest way to collect all of the ninja in their signature giLloyd in the minifigure series, Kai and Zane in Spinjitzu Training, Cole in the Manta Ray Bomber, Jay in the Flying Jelly Sub, and Nya in the Water Strider totals about $105 USD ($110 if you count Wu, from the minifigure series). But to collect all of the ninja in their civilian gear? It starts off okay, as Cole, Zane, Lloyd, and Jay are all given in the minifigure series, and total about $20. Then, Nya can be found in a $20 set. But the set they put casual Kai in is the $300 Ninjago City. So that's a grand total of $340 for the casual minifigures if you wanted to get them through the sets. Both groups, and you're down $445. (However, casual Lloyd is also available in Ninjago City, so if you get that set for both, you can shave a hefty $5 off your total.)
