* : Some annotators saw the more cunning and dastardly Krusha seen in the DKC episode Speed as this from how he spiced up the dynamic among the cast by being Eviler Than Thou than K. Rool and Klump. To the point of wishing the episode didn't end with Krusha going back to his old self and instead he continued to be present for at least a few more episodes.

* JumpingTheShark: Lampshaded as they fully expected this reaction when they did the WesternAnimation/SonicSatAM pilot, with the video descriptions daring people to unsubscribe.
** For annotators, a lot of longer series have their moment when the annotators just don't feel like caring about the show is worth it anymore. Some examples:
*** For Captain N, it's Season 3, especially the infamous Hoops episode.
*** For Donkey Kong Country it's either the "Babygate" (See Below), Terry Saltsman's constant abuse of the titular character in episodes written by him or Head Pun Song from The Big Switch-A-Roo.
*** For Double Dragon, the introduction of Daj and constant repeat of Virtual Reality themed episode.
*** For Archie's Weird Mysteries, the disappearance of Reggie and constant abuse of "Archie falls in love with a girl that turns out to be supernatural" plots, with Green-Eyed Monster being considered the absolute low point.

* JerkassHasAPoint: Pointed out by the Annotators whenever it pops up, such as with Reggie and Bluster Kong. This is a contributing factor to some characters' EnsembleDarkhorse status, while the characters who don't listen get the opposite treatment.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap:
** Bully Koopa saw some love after bullying (what else?) Kootie Pie and Big Mouth in one episode.
** The "Surf Music" counts, too. The Annotators hated it in [=SMB3=], but warmed up to it in Captain N.
** Jeffrey Scott, writer for Captain N season 1. He wrote some pretty bad episodes (the one with Simon's IdentityAmnesia being a particularly hated one), but he also wrote the episode with Kevin's rival Mike and seemed to maintain some very minor consistency throughout the series. Some season 2 episodes were so bad that some people wished Scott had come back -- though not all of the fan-favorite episodes are his.
*** This eventually reversed after Captain N and the mocking increased as time went on. Legend of the Hawaiian Slammers poked fun at his incompetence with a string of annotations done up like a school report.
---> "English Language: Jeffrey regularly confuses nouns and adjectives, and overuses verbs of which he doesn't entirely know the meaning."
** General Klump of WesternAnimation/DonkeyKongCountry was initially hated for Padding dragging out episodes by talking and being an idiotic GeneralFailure. Season 2 nuanced the character a bit more, emphasized his FriendlyEnemy attributes, and made the character more outright pitiable, which resulted in people being less hostile toward him.
** The Swatbots were derided as stupid and ineffective in Underground, but come [=SatAM=] they TookALevelInBadass and were much better received.
** Willy Dewitt started out as the most hated character in Bucky O'Hare, but towards the end of the show the Annotators warmed up to him a bit for actually contributing something to the team rather than just being a TagAlongKid. Helped a bit by most of the cast otherwise being bland or just poorly written.

* TheScrappy: Due to the large amount of material riffed, there have been plenty of characters that have gotten on the annotators' nerves.

to:

* TheScrappy: Due to TheScrappy:
** In General:
*** Given that
the large amount series so far consists primarily of material riffed, there have been plenty animated adaptations of works full of already established characters that have gotten are already recognisable, most original characters get a lot of hate. Exceptions to the rule take the other extreme; see the EnsembleDarkHorse entry above. And a few managed to get themselves RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap; again, see above.
*** Characters whose jokes center around them being big eaters or Totally Radical fools usually end up being the most despised characters in the material.
*** Any character voiced by John Stocker, Terry Klassen, Andrew Sabiston or Doug Parker usually gets hate because of them usually sliding to having high-pitched annoying voices, the fact they voiced some of the more infamous scrappies, or generally not having a good voice range.
*** While Creator/JimCummings, Creator/GaryChalk, Creator/KathSoucie and Creator/FrankWelker aren't really considered to be scrappy voice actors, their inclusion
on some material's voice cast is usually faced with general apathy due to them being so overused in their era and for rarely being the show's saving grace, unlike most characters voiced by Creator/RichardNewman or Creator/ScottMcNeil.
** Ethan from Ctrl+Alt+Del. As an AuthorAvatar of Tim Buckley, one might extend this to him as well.
** Super Mario World had Oogtar, Yoshi and Kootie Pie. Any appearance by the latter brought in a running gag of her tolerance meter showing up on screen. It was always quick to max out, and the very last time it literally went off the scale, let out an AtomicFBomb and exploded.
--->Kootie Pie Tolerance Level: Exceeded
** Oogtar and Yoshi were frequently compared to Toad, yet when the Annotators got to [=SMB3=] they went easy on him. Maybe they realized he could've been much worse. Although, by Super Show, Toad was getting even more hate than the other two.
** Also in [=SMB3=], the Annotators got sick of Big Mouth and Bully Koopa too. As mentioned above, Bully did redeem himself.
** Street Fighter had Ken, mostly for being an asshole who frequently forgot lessons, along with getting a lot of CharacterFocus episodes.
** Nearly everyone from The Nutshack, with a little less hate for Dickman.
** Pretty much all of the good guys except Raiden and Nightwolf in Mortal Kombat, for either being total assholes (Jax, Sonya, Stryker) or having little to no personality (Liu Kang, Kitana, Sub-Zero). Stryker and Sonya got the worst of it by far.
** EveryJerkass one in Bouchedags.
** While the cast of the Bubsy pilot was generally disliked, Bubsy's nephews Terri and Terry got the worst of it for their annoying voices and personalities.
** Everyone from Animation/Ratatoing had no good ideas throughout the film, even the villains (whom the Annotators usually favor).
** Everyone from WesternAnimation/TheLittlePandaFighter sans Polaris -- especially Beth, a shallow, worthless LoveInterest (if you could even call her that) who obsessed over Teddy Thunders for most of the film.
** Quite a few from Captain N:
*** Kid Icarus and (to a lesser extent) Mega Man, due to their voices and verbal tics.
*** Puff, a OneShotCharacter baby dragon who only knows how to say "Mama!" and scream.
*** Game Boy was played up to be this, but ended up ignored (and sometimes even appreciated) for the most part.
** The pause annotation became this when it got overused for any facial expression that seemed even slightly off-model. Reaction was mixed when [=YouTube=] nixed the feature.
*** ASCII Penises are considered a fossil from a more embarrassing era and outside of few annotators they're rarely used by anyone in [=TheAnnotationStation=] era. The CAD section of Five Years Special was even dedicated to mocking them.
** Owandt, an annotator from the "beeupyou" channel, had a habit of forcing anti-Republican and technology-related jokes while annotating episodes of Super Mario Bros. 3. A lot of other viewers found it irritating, to say the least.
*** [=GoseiGreen=] was a forum user who frequently suggested preschool shows despite repeated rejections and believed that the Annotators owed her something. It got to the point where the April Fools 2015 special was dedicated to her.
** None of the main trio of Sonic Underground is particularly liked, but the Annotators' vitriol for Sonia is so strong that she once exceeded her "Tolerance Meter" just by showing up, while Sonic has obnoxious characterization and seems to get new abilities just for the sake of the plot.
** The Wacky Protester/Rotten Guy from the Bibleman episode A Fight for Faith for being a rather obnoxious villain with a subplot revolving around his mid-life crisis. It doesn't help that he planned to kidnap children, trap them in a surreal world and brainwash them into becoming Atheists, which the Annotators considered in bad taste. His secondtechnically first appearance in A Light in The Darkness didn't alleviate
the annotators' nerves.dislike with him either; as his behavior became even more obnoxious than the previous installment they riffed. That he broke into a musical number during the episode only made things worse.
** A number of characters in Foodfight!:
*** Many of the supporting characters, including Polar Penguin for his annoying voice and Lord Flushington the Gasshole farting frog. Their limited screen time was seen as a blessing to the Annotators.
*** Daredevil Dan never shut up and spouted a lot of the movie's worst puns and "parental humor".
*** Cheasel for his drawn-out scenes and uncomfortable appearance. He redeemed himself to some when he defeated a Brand X general through one of the film's running gags, but then some of those viewers took it back when they found out Cheasel was voiced by the "director" who added a lot of the more vulgar gags.
** Tommy Treehugger and Co-MC of Club Mario for their TotallyRadical dialogue, being yies for Wrestling/CaptainLouAlbano and Danny Wells, and abysmal brand of humor. Fortunately, their appearance is a one-off.
** From Savage Dragon:
*** Out of all the members of Dragon's RoguesGallery, Horde has a habit of annoying the Annotators whenever he gets an appearance.
*** Mako, due to being a boring character and his incompetence at working for Overlord.
** From Darkstalkers:
*** Harry and Felicia for their terrible voice acting and annoying personalities. The disturbing AlternateCharacterInterpretation of them and Morrigan Squick didn't help at all.
*** The show's version of Morrigan was seen as this, mainly for not being nearly as likable as her game counterpart, having an badly done Scottish accent, and lacking the Fanservice sexy traits that made her popular in the first place.
*** Despite having the same voice as M. Bison, this version of Pyron and his bratty, self-entitled behavior didn't go over so well with the annotators. Though compared to the others, he wasn't treated as bad.
*** Bigfoot's nephew Hairball, a rare intentional example, is often compared to Puff (see Captain N above).
** Mega Man:
*** Rush for being an obnoxious PluckyComicRelief character in a show that has absolutely no need for one. It didn't help that his "antics" were not only grievously Padding and unfunny, but also blatantly ripped off from Scooby-Doo.
*** Roll wavered in and out of this trope, mostly because she was increasingly seen as TheLoad who was wasting all of her legitimately good tools in favor of stupid ones like her vacuum cleaner.
*** Mega himself occasionally fell into this as well when making a sexist remark towards Roll or just for whenever he acted like an Jerkass asshole.
*** Bright Man was often considered the worst of the reoccurring Robot Masters due to his dopey voice, uselessness, and for somehow making puns that were worse than the others.
** From Donkey Kong Country:
*** Diddy Kong for his obnoxious singing voice and asshole attitude to his "big buddy" DK.
*** Candy Kong acted like a bitch to everyone (especially towards Donkey Kong and Bluster) while lacking any of the traits that make the other characters likable. Not to mention appearing constantly even though she rarely does anything important to the plot.
*** General Klump started out as this due to talking a lot to pad out episodes, but the Annotators warmed up to him over the course of Season 2.
*** Cranky fell into this towards the end of season two between his criticizing DK over locking up the Crystal Coconut in "It's a Wonderful Life" and the head puns in "The Big Switch-a-roo".
*** Writer Terry Saltsman. While most of the other writersmost noticeably, Erika Strobel, Nadine van der Velde, and Creator/IanJamesCorlett weren't all that great either. Saltsman went out of his way to portray Donkey Kong in a negative light despite it often being undeserved. It didn't help that he wrote the series finale.
** The Music/InsaneClownPosse and their obnoxious behavior, terrible rapping and constant mugging to the camera drew annoyance with the annotators very quickly. Their fans were also seen as punching bags during the "Juggalo Island" video.
** Rayne in the Webcomic/LeastICouldDo pilot was an annoying character, much like in the source material.
** J. Wellington Wimpy from the WesternAnimation/PopeyeAndSon, for his usual antics as TheLoad.
*** The show itself, as its plots were boring and had a terribly low amount of slapstick that Popeye is known for.
** Peak from Dinosaur Adventure due to his dopey personality, annoying rhymes and snitching on the other characters. Many characters were praised for poking fun at him, Kree in particular.
** Everyone from Felix Saves Christmas got torn apart for their inability to act, their stilted dialogue reading, annoying voices, and outrageously terrible puns. The special itself was chewed on for it's ungodly slow pacing, spontaneous music segments, and terrible writing. All of this was attributed to one Don Oriolo, who wrote, directed, and produced the entire special.
** From Let's Jab of Star Fox Adventures:
*** Prince Tricky because of his annoying personality, voice and forced sidekick status. The Annotators had fun by making every character wish death on him.
*** Krystal qualifies as a mild one because of her annoying voice and UsefulNotes/FurryFandom.
** WesternAnimation/ProStars
*** Wayne Gretzky for his constant hunger and jackass attitude. His real-life counterpart isn't well received either, looking and talking like a complete stoner.
*** Mom, for her shrill voice and what the Annotators perceived as an uncomfortable Jewish stereotype.
** Creator/DougWalker (both in and out of character) for being an unfunny, overrated hack with something to answer for with his large fandom and did nothing when Mike Michaud ran his company in the ground. Both The Review Must Go On and Melvin, Brother of the JokerMelvin himself being a huge Scrappy due to his voice, rambling, attempts to kill his own mother and annoying behavior. That the bit goes on for 8 minutes didn't ease matters. helped seal his fate with the annotators.
** Double Dragon
*** Billy Lee gets called out as a boring hypocrite a lot (such as chastising others for using violence and weapons despite using them himself, and never trying to help others onto the right path).
*** Season 2 original Daj, mostly for being a CreatorsPet and derailing the show from its typical elements. His ridiculous animal-control powers and falsetto Jamaican accent didn't help.
** Sonic OVA
*** Sara, due to her annoying voice, whiny personality, and her design. As per tradition, she maxed out her own "Tolerance Meter".
*** Tails, to a lesser extent, for having a perpetual cold and frequently stating the obvious.
*** Old Man Owl, while an intentional case, was still berated for contributing nothing to the story. Some Annotators wished Metal Sonic killed him in one scene.
** Most characters from Our Friend, Martin were seen as either bland or unlikable, but Maria was considered the worst. She's a DeadpanSnarker with terrible lines and an irritatingly huge ego (she even compares herself to Madame Curie). It's bad when her BadFuture immigrant worker counterpart is considered an improvement.
*** Miles, to a lesser extent, for being a proud ignoramus and unintentionally creating a parallel timeline where minorities still faced overt and legally-systematized discrimination well into the present.
** WesternAnimation/SonicSatAM:
*** Dulcy received unanimous hatred for her uselessness, prominence and constant "crash-land & spout a non-sequitur about her ma" running gag. When she got ADayInTheLimelight an episode focused on her, the immediate response was one of dread.
*** Sonic's portrayal didn't fare much better, as a BigEater TotallyRadical Designated IdiotHero.
*** Sally Acorn was disliked, while Antoine was despised for being an annoying DirtyCoward and TheLoad whose antics are generally more obnoxious than endearing. The fact that they take up more screen-time in season 2 made the Annotators hate them even more.
** Spritle and Chim-Chim didn't have the best introductions: the first episode had them whining for cookies, nearly getting Speed killed and telling Pops something Speed explicitly told them not to tell him. They were instantly hated, with a little less hate for Chim-Chim as the series went on (as he constantly trolls Spritle).
** WesternAnimation/ArchiesWeirdMysteries:
*** The titular character, due to his super-serious, sanctimonious personality and the annoying love-triangle that was carried over from the comics. This seemed to be lessening as the show went on, but than the latter half of season 2 came around and escalated his worst traits, making him more hated than ever.
*** Veronica for her constant whining and severe AesopAmnesia. She became even more hated in season two as the Annotators began to notice that Reggie is always given shit for being a jerk, but everyone seems to just shrug it off when Veronica does far worse things than Reggie.
*** Dilton, who is widely seen as being either pointless or a contrived excuse for some of the show's more science-related episodes.
** The titular clown in the Are You Afraid of the Dark?' episode "The Tale of the Ghastly Grinner" became one between his getup, annoying personality and for not being all that intimidating.
** The main characters of WesternAnimation/TheRapsittieStreetKidsBelieveInSanta, sans Smithy. But this was especially directed towards Ricky (mostly due to him rapping every line he has in the special) and Nicole, due to her bitchy attitude towards the other characters and for randomly bursting into a song number during part 2.
*** The special itself ultimately became one as well due to the aforementioned characters; its terrible excuse for animation, and contrived plot.
** While the whole cast was disliked by the annotators, Momoka, Touka and Ukyou from Chichi Miko (itself heavily reviled by the annotators) received the harshest of their vitriol.
*** Momoka for generally being a selfish dick who decides the best things to do with Ukyou are to force his head into her tits as a greeting, and later, for thinking that forcing tomatoes down his throat is a suitable punishment for not eating his own.
*** Touka for being Main/GrandmaWhatMassiveHotnessYouHave taken too far; for making Ukyou have sex with her not once, but TWICE; and serving as the instigator for the game's later events. Her outfit in part three of the riff didn't alleviate matters.
*** Ukyou meanwhile got this from performing the game's incestuous acts, especially towards the end when spoiler: he decided to have sex with his daughterswhich was mercifully censored visually, but the audio and text makes it pretty obvious.
** ComicBook/BuckyOHareAndTheToadWars:
*** Willy Dewitt was initially loathed for coming off as a self-insert and indirectly bringing real-world scenes into the mix. This lessened later on; see RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap above.
*** Bucky is considered the most boring member of the Righteous crew, not helped by his voice actor having a bad case of DullSurprise.
*** KOMPLEX is generally regarded as one of the worst Big Bads in annotated history, lacking both funniness or coolness and being defeated laughably easily. He also didn't get as much screen-time and characterization as the other villains on the show, making him come off as boring and cliched in comparison.
** King Satan in Series/Spectreman due to his annoying tire screech of a roar and his blatant Notzilla design.
** Anime/KirbyRightBackAtYa
*** Meta example: Bugzzy's re-imagining into Fred the Spanyard ended up as such. As the latter character was relatively obscure, this annoyed some of the annotators, who had no idea what the joke was about. It didn't help that the episode he appeared in was only chosen to make those jokes.
*** Tiff, who's seen as a pretentious nag and SoapboxSadie who steals the spotlight from Kirby. Then "Un-Reality TV" escalated these traits, by having her deal out the (Hypocrite hypocritical) moral of the episode.
*** Kine is the most hated guest character, due to his dopey-sounding voice and creepy obsessiveness towards Tiff.
*** Tokkori, due to his dickish behavior, shrill voice, and terrible Leitmotif.
** Eric Harris and Dylan Klebold. Obvious reasons notwithstanding, the two were criticized and heavily mocked for their poor acting skills and incompetent filmmaking. Some even claiming that the extras in their film were better than they were.
** WesternAnimation/TheAdventuresOfTheAmericanRabbit:
*** Rob due to doing nothing for most of the film.
*** Teddy due to coming off as racist towards the Jackals.
*** Vultor was considered more of an arrogant whiner than a threat, whose plots revolved around InsaneTrollLogic.
** The adults in Revenge of The Red Baron were largely treated with disdain for making the setting a Jerkass world of jackasses. To the point where they were rooting for the Baron to kill them.
** The annotators didn't take too kindly to Donkey Ollie's special brand of specialness when they riffed The Adventures of Donkey Ollie. This only intensified once they got further into the show.
*** Rupert the Raven elicited this response when he first opened his mouth in episode 4. Not helping was his arrogant behavior towards Ollie and Jehu, or his off-putting singing voice.
*** The Dolphins from episode 5 didn't get much love either thanks to how their scenes came from nowhere and their voices sounding more like aliens than anything.
** He-Man and She-Ra Christmas Special
*** Played with. Similarly to Gameboy, Orko was built up to be incredibly annoying, but while he was mocked quite a bit, a number of the Annotators noted that he wasn't nearly as bad as they expected him to be.
*** Played straight with Alicia and Miguel, due to their TagalongKid nature and being almost completely useless throughout the special.
** Naturally, Most of the cast in "Arthur's Big Hit" was treated with disdain over Arthur's behavior toward [=DW=] breaking his plane.
** Mr. Cool in the Fonz and The Happy Days Gang riff earned the annotators' ire very quickly for just how often, and how badly, he screws things up for the gang, though this would eventually cool off later in the show's run. Cupcake has also received a similar reaction from the group.
** Dodger Dare from his self-titled short in WesternAnimation/ShortyMcShortsShorts was absolutely reviled by the annotators for his Jerkass asshole personality, awful treatment of his best friend, and the fact what he was willing to kill his own clones just to keep them from upstaging him to the girl he likes. By the end of the riff, he was declared the main reason as to why his short was the worst of the lot.
** Wild Woody from the game of the same name did not receive a warm welcome between his bad jokes, his constant yelling and CameraAbuse and generally unsettling appearance.
** Cousin Mel from the Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer riff got this status due to her one-note, money-hungry personality.
