* BestKnownForTheFanservice: A lesser example but it seems whenever people talk about the game they always seem to bring up Morrigan’s EXTREMELY suggestive ending from the American version which has some strong Straight Shotacon vibes, which is rare to see in a Capcom game, let alone an American release.

* HighTierScrappy:
** Karas in Cross Generation of Heroes is disliked by many people due to his insane pressure game and decent range with solid gimmicks (only hindered by his average movement speed, low HP and subpar one-shot damage). Karas was nerfed in the international release, which caused him to take the lower ends due to his tighter execution.
** Tekkaman Blade gets this kind of ire for his powerful well-rounded pressure from anywhere in the screen and his free crossups. Though he's hindered by his awkward movement and unsafe attacks on block, and thus requires careful usage.

* LowTierLetdown: Gold Lightan was essentially tournament-banned... for being so bad nobody seemed to be able to win with him.

Karas was nerfed in the international release, which caused him to take the lower ends due to his tighter execution.
** In Ultimate All-Stars, Zero has only a bit more health than Karas (still the second-lowest in the game), but what he brings to the table are extremely solid strings of both long-grinding combos and/or nasty blockstring pressure (which require a decent amount of time to learn how to effectively stick the Hyper Zero Blaster into). Not to mention he can both zone (especially if you use his Hyper Zero Blaster + Hadangeki loop via his Sougenmu Hyper Combo) and build a ridiculous amount of meter from his combos. As a result, Zero will always have enough meter to Mega Crash, which also fuels his Baroque.

This is now Trivia and requires Word of God to prove that it was intentional.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: One of the reasons why this game exists in the first place is because Capcom (a Japanese company) needed to give Japanese players something to be excited about/something they could relate to, rather than using characters from American comics.

Misuse; Memetic Mutation is for jokes that are repeated and transformed by fans, not to describe memorable lyrics/quotes. Misuse of Mondegreen (please read the sentence in bold at said trope's page).

* MemeticMutation: The Japanese Training Stage theme has some interesting lyrics, including one about the Rick Roll meme, and one about child abuse, plus a certain mondegreen described below.
* Mondegreen: The Training Stage chorus is believed by many to contain the phrase "Rise like a dragon! Punch a woman! Got the twister, I'll twist 'em!", in part because of a memetic youtube video that illustrated what the video's maker thought the lyrics were. The actual lines are "Rise like a dragon!/Punch 'em, won't miss 'em/It's a hurrricane force kick, got the twister, I'll twist em" but the middle line is interrupted, making it sound like "Punch a woman." Which you can do in the game anyway, since the game has female fighters, so it's kind of appropriate in its inappropriateness.

He was a powerful character in Cross Generation of Heroes, then he was nerfed for Ultimate All-Stars, for balance reasons, leading to massive complaint about this. Now that the game came out, people are whining about the removal of most mini-games and the animated endings. They suddenly forgot the fact about the new characters, stages, the rebalanced metagame, and the very fact that the game is now available in the US and in Europe. And then we have the art. UDON has stated that they did redo all of the ending artwork (not the animated ones) for all characters and for the newcomers. Cue people angrily complaining about the change and how the style sucks.

Audience Alienating Premise only counts if the work failed to meet expectations. Not only was this game critically acclaimed, but Capcom itself considered it to be a commercial success.

* AudienceAlienatingPremise: This was certainly not the original plan, as Tatsunoko is kind of a big deal in Capcom's home country of Japan, and the original plan was to keep the game there, due to both this trope and the Licensing Hell that would have been involved. Only a surprising amount of international support from the fighting game community convinced them otherwise. That said, Gatchaman is really the only Tatsunoko property featured that has anything close to mainstream recognition in the West, so this trope was still inevitable, despite some obvious efforts on Capcom's part (bringing in Joe the Condor, Zero, and Frank West, as well as the attempts to bring in Speed Racer and the Samurai Pizza Cats), leading to it being a modest "niche hit" in the end.
