Speaking of which, with ''[=MvC3=]'' announced, guess what the FanDumb did to the ''[=TvC=]'' players. The fact that some ''"hardcore fighting fans"'' automatically assume that the game is going to be played solely by ''"[[VideoGame/SuperSmashBros Smash]] babies"'' and that it is an automatic ''"inferior game"'' without even giving it a chance is really saddening.
** "My jabs are punishable!" Even though it was only apparent in the location-test vids and not in the actual game anymore, and that push-blocking (here called as Advancing Guard) is also punishable.
** Fan-favorite characters' absence ([[VideoGame/DevilMayCry Dante]] being the most requested one, along with the Anime/SamuraiPizzaCats and Anime/SpeedRacer).
** And, in an odd case of ''It's the Same so It Sucks'', those who hate that ''[=TvC=]'' is a Wii-only game and [[ConsoleWars demand the game to be ported to Xbox 360 and PS3]]. This despite the fact that the game originally ran on a Wii-based arcade board and [[WordOfGod the game producers]] saying that would be [[PortingDisaster too expensive to reprogram the game for those particular systems]].
** LOTS of hate has been directed at the new fighting system. At its core: three attack buttons and a partner button. Many complained about this "dumbed-down" system with out taking notice of the many complex moves you can pull off. Also, apparently "simple" means no depth.

* UnexpectedCharacter: NOBODY expected that Tatsunoko would be the next company Capcom would pick a fight with, so their entire roster counts as this. As for the Capcom side though, most of their roster was also quite unexpected:
** Megaman Volnutt getting in over the original Megaman or even X.
** Batsu Ichimonji making his long-awaited VS. series debut.
** Soki as an Onimusha representative, over the series' main protagonist Samonuske Akechi.
** Saki, at least for overseas players, as her origin game was a Japan-only arcade quiz game. Her only appearance before was an assist in the first MarvelVsCapcom game.
** Frank West, although he did end up being the number one reason why American gamers picked the game up.
** Alex, the first ever StreetFighterIII rep in the series.
** PTX-40A. A gigantic mecha originating from a third-person shooter being chosen to represent Capcom as their giant fighter?

* NeedsMoreLove: Despite the high ratings the game had obtained in every gaming site or magazine, it seems like ''Tatsunoko vs. Capcom'' is the unwanted child of the "FightingGame [[FanDumb fans]]." See HateDumb above and TheyChangedItNowItSucks below for the explanations. The fact that Creator/{{Capcom}} brought the game overseas (since the original ''Cross Generation of Heroes'' wasn't planned to have a release outside of Japan) to please their fans didn't help them.

* AuthorsSavingThrow: Possibly the reason why this game exist in first place is because Capcom (a Japanese company) needed to give Japanese players something to be related about, rather than using characters from [[MarvelComics American comics]].
* BigLippedAlligatorMoment: Most endings in ''Cross Generation of Heroes'' do not mention the final boss fight at all. Those falling outside the "Most" are Roll's, Yatterman-1's, Volnutt's, Karas', Jun's and (specially) Viewtiful Joe's. In ''Ultimate All Stars'' however, everyone refers to [[spoiler:Yami]] directly or indirectly - either they contemplate on them defeating the final boss, or recovering from the reality warp that took place during the game (which apparently is the "real" plot).

* FountainOfMemes: Frank West is likely to become this. More so than in ''DeadRising'', even. '''THAT'S HILARIOUS!'''

* HilariousInHindsight: The game's intro song is called "Across the Border". It is effectively making a jump across the border overseas.

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Several:
** Saki not only has ascended from being an extra in ''Quiz Nanairo Dreams'', but in ''Ultimate All Stars'', she got a lot of buffs.
** Zero and Joe the Condor, who are really popular characters in their original works, Zero is even more loved than Game/MegaMan himself.
** Doronjo, who thanks to her massive popularity in Japan, she was the most requested character during the location tests, and when she was revealed during SBO 2008, the crowd cheered. This makes her the only playable villain character appearing in the game.
** Both Yattermen, who, along with Doronjo, represent the most popular ''Time Bokan'' entry, making many people to wonder why the original ''Time Bokan'' barely appears as a reference, yet ''Yatterman'' characters are always referred when people mention ''Time Bokan''.

* MemeticMutation:
** When ''Tatsunoko vs. Capcom'' was about to be released, a certain video of the utterly obscure English dub of ''Tekkaman: The Space Knight''[[hottip:*:Quite obscure because when your show went up against both ''TransformersGeneration1'' and ''{{Voltron}}'' at the time...]] was also discovered--reeking of cheesy dialog, CaptainObvious galore and over-the-top voice acting. Coincidentally--all of Tekkaman's attacks are also the ones voiced with lines like '''''SPACE LANCE!''''' and '''''SPACE LARIAT!''''' thus giving birth to the memetic man of space within the ''Tatsunoko vs. Capcom'' fandom. The original uploader has been banned in Youtube, but you can still see the collected clips [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=MURDGxx7FJo here]].
** Frank West. [[RunningGag He's covered wars ya know.]]

* NeedsMoreLove: Despite the high ratings the game had obtained in every gaming site or magazine, it seems like ''Tatsunoko vs. Capcom'' is the unwanted child of the "FightingGame [[FanDumb fans]]". See "HateDumb" above and "TheyChangedItNowItSucks" in the YMMV page for the explanations. The fact that {{Capcom}} brought the game overseas (since the original ''Cross Generation of Heroes'' wasn't planned to have a release outside of Japan) to please their fans didn't help them.
** Capcom Unity member [=PowerStunna=] [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=W67KX_gdZdA came up with a catchy (if not slightly cheesy) rap using the BGM in the online mode's lobby.]] What's one of the first things he brings up? ''The game deserves a sequel''.

Added DiffLines:

* {{Squick}}:
** PTX-40A and Gold Lightan are giant characters whereas Roll and Viewtiful Joe are tiny characters. Some attacks will be different because of it... particularly Alex's Stun Gun Headbutt... especially when doing it on Gold Lightan. [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zwf67gJw77k Just... just look at it...]]
** Lightan's command grab to another robot. Watch him slam the foe to the ground and body-rape the poor mecha!

*** To a somewhat lesser (but still noticeable) degree, Tekkaman Blade gets this kind of ire too. God forbid that you use them ''together''.
