* GrowingTheBeard: At first, the comic gained attention due to how [[SoBadItsGood ridiculously bad it was]]. But as the story went on, the characters become more rounded, and Lazerbot's [[ArtEvolution art improved drastically]], and as a result, many people have actually become invested in the story. It's difficult to pinpoint an exact moment at which people actually started caring about the story, but chapter 6 is generally accepted as one of the high water marks of the series.

* GodModeSue: The Troll King skirts dangerously close to this trope thanks to his [[StoryBreakerPower Seven Deadly Curse Words]] technique, that would let him easily steamroll almost the entire cast if it weren't for a severe case of GenreBlindness that causes him to only use it as a last resort.

He might not have done enough to warrant this status.

** Demaro might be a straighter, less humorous example of this.

* FridgeHorror: In Donkey Kong's first appearance in the comic, he was shown sleeping after having a threesome with Knuckles and Rouge. In his most recent appearance, he's prevented from helping the Troll Slaiyers out because Rouge gave him Gonnorhea. No points for deducing what this means for Knuckles.

* TheScrappy: Demaro isn't really well liked by the fanbase as far as villains go. His [[SmugSnake insufferable arrogance]] prevents him from being as [[EvilIsCool cool as]] The Troll King or Alex. And he's not [[LaughablyEvil hilariously]] [[CrossesTheLineTwice depraved]] like Troll Face or Garry.

However, the character has also amassed a [[EnsembleDarkhorse sizable fanbase amongst readers]] due to [[CrossesTheLineTwice hilariously vile he is]].

I may have jumped the gun, Shadow isn\'t quite a complete monster yet.

** Shadow is arguably skirting towards this status at this point. The story sets him up as an anti-hero willing to kill trolls, but it becomes clear that his reason for killing them is because he [[BloodKnight enjoys it]] and some of his actions such as [[spoiler: brutally murdering Bugs and Duffy, or slaughtering an entire village just because he thought they were trolls]] don't exactly endear him to the audience.

* BetterThanItSounds: At first, it seems an awful lot like a [[SoBadItsGood hilariously bad]] revenge fantasy, with people like Mario, Sonic and Shadow killing annoying yet harmless trolls. Then, the comic actually gains some character depth when the characters enacting the revenge fantasy are shown to be as terrible, horrible people who are just as bad as the people they fight in the story, at the same time having the villains of the story get stronger and have more characterization - you can't really call it a revenge fantasy anymore. Don't be fooled (There's a reason why this is YMMV), at the end of the day, we're still talking about a SonicTheHedgehog crossover comic done in MS Paint, but the comic's come a long way when compared to its beginnings.
