* BreatherLevel: In Survival mode, the Ice Caves can easily be this. There are no [=AT-STs=], and the eponymous caves have several easy to defend areas. TIE Fighters won't be able to attack you while inside the caves, which make up most of the map, making it easy to leave them alone until you've taken out all the infantry. Lastly, unlike the Rebel Depot, the other map without [=AT-STs=], shadow troopers start appearing late game rather than early on.

Worse yet, while normally they're late game enemies, in the Rebel Depot they appear as early as ''the second wave'' (presumably to compensate for the lack of [=AT-STs=]).

* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** DICE announced [[http://starwars.ea.com/starwars/battlefront/news/start-of-your-star-wars-adventure more additional free content]] in addition to the free [[Film/TheForceAwakens Battle of Jakku DLC]], possibly as a result of backlash over the lack of content in the base game. Thus far, this has manifested in the form of new weapons and maps.
** In response to the negative reception of DLC heroes Nien Nunb and Greedo (who look like lazy {{Palette Swap}}s of existing character models), DICE released the Bespin DLC with fan-favorite heroes Lando and Dengar. Many fans were happy with this decision since they would at least play as beloved characters who at least look different than the existing ones playable in multiplayer.
** Hero Hunt was initially criticized for being a LuckBasedMission in which the next hero was chosen for who dealt the final blow to the incumbent hero. Eventually, it was changed to where the next hero was selected based on who dealt the most damage to the incumbent hero.
** Since the game's release, one of the most persistent criticisms of the game is the lack of offline content and games. In July 2016, EA announced at last an offline mode, "Skirmish", in which one can play offline co-op on Walker Assault and Fighter Squadron.
** Chewie was finally announced as the new DLC Hero for the Death Star DLC, as many fans were dumbfounded that he wasn't in the first DLC, if not the base game itself.
** One of the most contentious changes from the original game series was the removal of space battles. In the final two DLC's, variations of space battles were added in thanks to the "Battle Station" and "Infiltration" game modes.
** As the DLC Heroes began rolling in with Traits, fans grew annoyed that the original six lacked such traits. In the last days of the DLC season, the original six heroes gained their own traits at last.
** Many fans have complained about the game's almost slavish dedication to the Original Trilogy, wishing for Prequel Trilogy content. EA announced in summer 2016 that the final DLC pack would be based on ''Film/RogueOne'', which while still technically OT since it takes place just before ''A New Hope'', was still regarded as a good call and break from the OT focused content of the rest of the game before it.
** DICE has hinted that the sequel will include multiple eras and has confirmed that there will be a story campaign after the massive backlach due to the lack of offline content in the first game.

** Backlash against EA's involvement just got stronger when fans saw IGN's official review upon release. While IGN wasn't shy about criticizing the game, they gave it [[EightPointEight 8 out of 10]] and somehow avoided mentioning any of the removed content that upset so many fans, essentially judging the game on its own without comparing it to previous ''Battlefront'' entries. Some say that EA earned their 8 stars with masterful graphics and fun gameplay, and that the game should be judged on its own merits. Others suspect that EA pressured IGN for a good review, and argue that the company had no excuse for cutting so much well-received content from previous games when they had such a high budget and charged players $60 per copy.

** The internet let out a collective BigNo when it was announced that Electronic Arts had obtained the license to publish ''Star Wars'' games... Until the ''Battlefront'' reboot was announced, turning the reaction into a BigYes (though some were still worried about EA's financial decisions affecting the game). More people were won over when it was announced that DICE - the people that worked on [[VideoGame/{{Battlefield}} the very franchise that]] ''Battlefront'' [[FollowTheLeader is based on]] - would be the division of EA working on the game.
** People were still concerned that the game would be ''Battlefield [[RecycledInSpace In Space]]'', meaning that you would only be able to play in first-person view. Said concerns were completely destroyed with the gameplay reveal, showing that third-person gameplay is still a part of the franchise. Though, ironically, the IN SPACE part is gone since there are no space battles...

* HypeBacklash: When the game was announced, many fans had high hopes given DICE's [[Franchise/{{Battlefield}} pedigree]] and commitment to the project (with many developers going so far as to visit the original filming sites to capture the environments perfectly). Yet several fans were disappointed with the initial game during launch week with general complaints leveled at the lack of depth and innovation. This was largely reflected in critical reviews with scores in the 6-8 range instead of the usual 8-9 range of DICE's other games. That said, DICE has begun creating more free content so it may be possible that the players will warm up as with ''Battlefield 4'' (which also was slammed at release yet won back the fanbase with gradual improvements).

* ScapegoatCreator: As a result of the HypeBacklash, many fans have been pointing fingers at EA (the publisher of the game) and Disney (the rights holder of Star Wars brand). The former was accused watering down Battlefront and including a much-hated season pass as a means to sell as many units and milk as much money from fans. The latter was accused of [[ExecutiveMeddling placing creative restrictions]] for the sake of canonicity and [[ChristmasRushed rushing out the game]] to promote ''Film/TheForceAwakens''. Given how much of the production was not known, it may be possible that parties may have been MisBlamed for whatever faults. [[RuleOfCautiousEditingJudgment As such, any accusations should be met with caution.]]

* ContestedSequel: Most agree this game isn't as good as the original Battlefront games. Whether or not it's still good in its own right, however, is a source of debate.

** Some fans posit that [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=bQ7vzvR-JXo Darth Vader's voice]] is deserving of this label, and that Matt Sloan's rendering of it in this game sounds more like [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KQFho0_G1VI David Prowse's version]] than Creator/JamesEarlJones's. Strange, seeing as Sloan did a very good job of Vader's voice in ''VideoGame/TheForceUnleashed'' and in several projects since, so one has to wonder what happened.
