* BaseBreaker: Evan. Some fans find him completely annoying, others think that he's the best part of the show.

* StopHelpingMe: Evan seems hellbent on getting [=HankMed=] more customers, over the insistence of Hank himself. When he buckles down to it, he ''is'' a good CFO.

* FoeYay: Hank and Emily. It gets more interesting when [[spoiler:they act on their attraction... in the ''second'' episode after her appearance. It doesn't look like they'll end the enemy stage just yet, either.]]

** "You Give Love a Bad Name" begins with [[spoiler: Hank opening the chest of a guy who has just been shot and instructing someone else to hold the ribs apart. This troper was very quick to look away.]]

** Though as of late, he's become a much better character since he started dating Paige, to the point where when Hank was a jerk to him, Evan gave him a speech that was pretty close to a [[TheReasonYouSuckSpeech reason you suck speech.]] Those who couldn't stand Evan before probably like him now. RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap indeed.

* HoYay: Boris and Hank (Could be FoeYay depending on how the [[WMG/RoyalPains story]] is going), Evan and Boris (though more on Evan's part), [[LesYay Divya and Jill]], [[IncestSubtext Hank and Evan]]

* PuritySue: Hank. Seriously, does he get paid extra for being a goody-two-shoes?

* WTHCostumingDepartment: Season 7 opens with Paige and Evan having a bit of a PregnancyScare, as while they're married they're hardly ready to be parents. Towards the end of the episode, she shows up to tell him she's not pregnant after all; she got her period and was just late (even though she claims she's never late). The thing is, she's wearing '''white pants'''. Absolutely ''no'' woman on the first day of her period would be wearing white pants: if she was wearing them before she suddenly started, she'd change because they're now bloody; if she wasn't, there's no way she'd look in her closet for a new pair and go, "Hmm, I think I'll choose the one article of clothing most likely to advertise if my sanitary napkin springs a leak!"

* PuritySue: Hank. Seriously, does he get paid extra for being a goody-two-shoes?

* TearJerker: Evan watching helplessly as Hank tries to revive their father during his heart attack. Capped off when they finally get him to the emergency room and the surgeon - after asking what happened and if Hank is the primary physician to which Hank responds he's the son - can only reply with a shocked and sympathetic: "Jesus..."

* EnsembleDarkhorse: Paige went from hiring Evan to be her fake boyfriend to being his real wife, part of the team, and PromotedToOpeningTitles.

* DesignatedLoveInterest: Jill Casey

* {{Flanderization}}: Evan turns into more of an idiotic jerk as the series goes on. This is actually a plot point, as he mentions in 1x11 that the Hamptons are "changing" him.
** Jill seems to have become less and less competent a doctor compared to Hank and Divya in the second season.
** That might be because Jill isn't a doctor.

* FollowTheLeader - Like ''BurnNotice'', this show features a man who loses his job through no fault of his own and is forced to get by in an unfamiliar situation. [[LampshadeHanging That's a quote from the commercial where Michael writes to Hank]], and sends him a few things he might need; sunglasses, some sunscreen, [[RuleOfThree a block]] [[BreadEggsMilkSquick of C4]]...
** Also: a doctor who chooses to save the life of a regular kid over an influential person which causes him to lose his job and his fiancée? [[{{Anime/Monster}} Somebody better keep an eye on the kid...]]

* TakeThat: In the pilot when the on-call doctor tries to treat a girl at the party and automatically assumes it's drugs. Hank points out some important symptoms that he missed because of his assumption. A cynical doctor who assumes the worst in everyone? Hmmm....

** ShallowLoveInterest: Still doesn't has much of a personality of her own.

* DesignatedLoveInterest/ShallowLoveInterest: Jill Casey

* HighOctaneNightmareFuel: In 1x07, "Crazy Love", [[spoiler:the patient of the week gets put in an MRI. Something tries to get out of her ''chest''. Turns out to be an RFID chip, which is ''even more creepy''.]]
** In the season one finale, Evan finds mold in an attic. Moving, black mold. It is made marginally less creepy when it turns out to be bats.
** And then there was that one time where Hank drilled a hole in an old guy's head.

* CrowningMomentOfFunny: While "The Hankover" is a Crowning Episode of Funny, the best part is the misdirection about [[spoiler:Raj]]. Evan wakes up thinking he pushed him off the balcony and killed him; there's blood around his head. After the long flashback, Hank rushes over to check on him... and finds out that the "blood" is actually Bloody Mary and he's just fine. Evan's version of the push and the reality of it with Evan's drunk stumbling is an adjunct CMOF.

* FetishFuel: Aside from the obvious hot women, there's Divya, a smart, capable pretty Indian woman with a British accent. Some people like doctors, so there's Hank himself. Boris is a fit, rather in-control middle-aged man who we last see in the first episode emerging from a pool in tiny little trunks. "New Parts" Newberg isn't a bad looker either.
** The second episode has Evan dating a ballerina, and she gets to eat junk food for the first time in years. Specifically, a hot dog.

** Evan trades his (and later Hank's) cell phone for Cuban cigars. OK, stupid but this happens all the time really. But shouldn't he have taken out the SIM cards which would contain all his (and Hank's) personal and business contacts? (He does vow to buy Hank a new phone, so he might well have.)
** Most newer phones, especially those designed for business, allow one to synchronize practically all the information on the phone with an online website. Some even store everything on the providers servers instead of the phone itself.
