* UnfortunateImplications: The stage play turns Shadow Kanji's CampGay quirks UpToEleven and even has a segment where he hits on Yu with explicitly crude remarks and gestures (such as wanting his "Dicaprio" to "splatter" some of his "hospitality juice"). This was played for humor, but it also enforces a negative stereotype about gay people. When Richard Eisenbaus from ''Kotaku'' [[https://kotaku.com/the-persona-4-arena-musical-is-an-uneven-mess-1675234303 reviewed the play]], he called it one of the lowest points of the performance.
* WhatAnIdiot: Really, you have to wonder how it didn't occur to the researchers on [[spoiler:the project involving Labrys]] that causing a weapon to develop a heart, personality, and ultimately, an ego might result in said weapon taking issue with being forced to kill.
** The Kirijo Group trying to create an artificial Dark Hour, possibly right under Mitsuru's nose. Yeah, that's ''[[SarcasmMode totally]]'' not going to go [[EvilIsNotAToy horribly wrong]]...
** You'd think that after a whole game of dealing with their Shadows because of denial, they'd [[spoiler: warn Labrys not to say 'you're not me'. To be fair, though, several of them do at the very least try to warn her not to say the words, but they usually try too late, usually right before she says them instead of doing so sooner. The problem isn’t “warning her to not say the words” as much as “warning her to not say the words, but also doing so sooner than at the very last minute”.]]

* FanNickname:
** Teddie's [[Franchise/StreetFighter M. Bison]] [[WholeCostumeReference inspired attire]] has in some circles earned him the nickname "T. [[JustForPun Bearson]]." He's also occasionally called "Captain Teddie" and "General Teddie" by some fans.
*** There's also Teddie Crusher, adding to the M. Bison similarities as it looks exactly like the Psycho Crusher. Also, Psycho Kumasher.
*** Teddie's exploitable screw attack is getting called [[VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom "Bearserker Bearage"]] on a few forums.
** Due to the obvious similarities to [[VideoGame/MarvelVsCapcom Iron Man]], Aigis' instant kill is often just called "Proton Cannon" or "Superior Tech."
** [[Manga/{{Bleach}} Senbonzakura]] for Yukiko's Instant Kill. Kageyoshi addendum optional.
** Labby for Labrys, courtesy of Teddie.
*** Shabrys for Shadow Labrys (specifically, the version who uses Asterius).
*** Slabrys for the Shadow version of regular Labrys (the one who uses Ariadne).

I feel we need more reasons than just her accent to consider her a Base Breaking Character.

* BaseBreakingCharacter: Pre-release, Labrys was a very controversial character - some like her, others hate that she was put in the game. Mostly because she came out of {{al|lThereInTheManual}}most {{no|ExportForYou}}where, and what little information was known about her made her seem like a Mary Sue. It doesn't help that the RobotGirl characters were rather controversial in the fandom. However, once the game was released, people warmed up to her. There are still some people who dislike her due to finding her accent (Kansai for Japanese players, a Brooklyn one for the localized players) [[{{Narm}} ridiculous]].

** Mitsuru's coat became a target of jokes that it was made from Koromaru since the game takes place multiple years after Persona 3 and it's unknown how old Koromaru was/is and he was unaccounted for in the vanilla version of the game. He made a proper appearance in Ultimax though, putting the joke to bed.

* RescuedFromTheScrappyHeap: A common complain of Fuuka in ''VideoGame/Persona3'' is how grating her English voice can be, from her DullSurprise and CaptainObvious comments to her [[MostAnnoyingSound saying the same thing over and over again]]. The change in voice actress to Wendee Lee has made Fuuka sound more fitting to her character in addition to being more adorable and remove some of her detractors.

* InternetBackdraft[=/=]TheyChangedItNowItSucks:
** Teddie's English voice actor changing from Creator/DaveWittenberg to Creator/SamRiegel, due to Wittenberg being a unionized voice actor now. In a subversion, many were extremely pleased Creator/ErinFitzgerald replaced Tracey Rooney as Chie.
** ''Arena'' being the first [[UsefulNotes/RegionCoding region-locked]] [=PS3=] game ever, to stop Japanese and European players from reverse-importing the cheaper US version. Quite a few fans were quick to cry foul and boycott the game in fear that other companies would do the same. To be fair, Atlus did make it very clear that both the NA and Japanese versions would be similar in content and released within weeks of one another anyway, so it would give no particular incentive to import the game and there would no problems with DLC support, as that has always been region locked to the same as the disc. However, this didn't help European fans waiting for the game, as the game was delayed from the scheduled release date of August 31st 2012 to May 10th 2013. The EU release being handled by the same publishers as the ''VideoGame/BlazBlue'' series, [[ScheduleSlip which were notoriously delayed in Europe]] didn't make the whole backdraft better. Atlus made very sure that the situation did not repeat with ''Ultimax''.
** Giving the Protagonist the CanonName [[Anime/Persona4TheAnimation Yu Narukami]] instead of [[ComicBookAdaptation Souji Seta]]. To be fair, the anime has a North American localization, making the former name more recognizable, plus there is still the sizable fanbase who prefer Yu to Souji.
** The decision to include the ''Persona 4 Arena Arranged Soundtrack'' on CD & with new artwork as a pre-order bonus with all European pre-orders was well received. The subsequent decision to release it on vinyl & only through the GAME stores in the UK in addition to the CD, with the pre-order bonuses ''not'' shipping outside of the UK, just set the angry fanbase off again.
*** There's even a portion of non-Europeans complaining it's not fair that only Europe gets the soundtrack on vinyl, despite the 8 month delay in the game's release there.
*** With the reveal of the Limited Edition of the game, the backdraft in Europe got even worse. Now people are either complaining about how everything included[[note]]The pre-order incentive Arranged Soundtrack CD, digital fan pack, Chie's badges, a Teddie keyring, a 300 piece jigsaw, and a tote bag[[/note]] just seems to be whatever they found lying in the warehouse and would otherwise be unable to sell, as opposed to something more substantial such as codes for the DLC, an art book or a figurine. Made even worse when it was first announced to be nearly double the price of the standalone game, though it's claimed it was supposed to be £10 cheaper.

When Richard Eisenbaus from ''Kotaku'' [[[[https://kotaku.com/the-persona-4-arena-musical-is-an-uneven-mess-1675234303 reviewed the play]], he called it one of the lowest points of the performance.

* CreatorKiller: Atlus' brain-dead decision to region-lock the game and the 10 month delay for the European release immediately following, coupled with extreme Internet Backdraft by European gamers that followed suit, clearly hit Atlus where it hurts really, really bad. Shortly after announcing Ultimax, Atlus got purchased by a now fully revived Sega. Ironically, the reason they decided to region-lock the game was because ''they thought it would save their parent company, Index Corp., from certain bankruptcy''. It ended up sealing Index's demise and causing them to be sold instead.
