* AuthorsSavingThrow:
** Season 5 was full of complaints about villains being EasilyForgiven and pulling {{Heel Face Turn}}s at the drop of a hat. Here, Applejack isn't too keen on forgiving the Flim-Flam brothers for their past misdeeds (and outright refuses to help them until it becomes clear that they're needed for defeating Gladmane) and the con-ponies pull a RedemptionRejection once the EnemyMine is done.
** On the topic of redeeming villains, much like with the Changeling episode, there's more of a reason why Applejack would distrust the Flim Flams. Not only that, but they managed to put their differences aside normally, rather than go through a ConflictBall or have an instant forgiveness button.
** There were also complaints of villains walking away with committed crimes and remaining at large, even with implications that they won't be at large for long, examples including Svengallop, Suri, and even Principal Cinch. Gladmane, however, not only gets exposed but also gets immediate LaserGuidedKarma.

* WhatAnIdiot:
** P.T. Barnum's rival is right again, because everypony scrambles to take up the offer for half-price tickets to the Pony Fantastique Theater... which now has NO shows or performers whatsoever. This means that Flim & Flam have essentially ''spun a profit from nothing'' thanks to the public's stupidity.
** Gladmane deserves some credit for expecting emissaries of the Princess of Friendship, but he clearly forgot to do any research on them. Had he known anything about Applejack and Fluttershy beyond their names and appearance, he would have known that they wouldn't be fooled by his BenevolentBoss façade for long.

Hindsight only applies to the works made this not causing it. YMMV can’t be played with.

** ''Viva Las Pegasus'' was also the title of a side-story in the ''Fanfic/FalloutEquestria'' fanfic.
* TheyCopiedItSoItSucks: Averted. After reading the initial synopsis, some fans thought this would be a repeat of the above ''Friends Forever'' issue. However not only is the reason for the argument between the Flim-Flam Brothers different (In the comics, it was over a girl they both liked. In the episode, it was Gladmane manipulating them). But it's resolved fairly quickly, to which the rest of the episode becomes an EnemyMine situation to expose Gladmane's true colors to the rest of the hotel.

* ViewerGenderConfusion: The Prairie Dog trainer ponies have the square muzzles associated with stallions, but they also have eyelashes. The gender-ambiguous voices don't help. They're both referred to as "him" at one point, but since they're talking over each other and say it simultaneously, it's easy to miss that they're both stallions.

* CounterpartComparison:
** Some people have compared the toppling of Gladmane's statue to [[https://youtu.be/hWxszYK6IPU?t=1m45s another famous statue-toppling]].
** The lies and interference that Gladmane puts between his workers is pretty similar to what Sunset Shimmer did to split apart the Mane Five and all of Canterlot High in ''WesternAnimation/MyLittlePonyEquestriaGirls''.

MB cleanup thread.

* MagnificentBastard: The Flim-Flam Brothers. They know Gladmane's no fool, so instead of attempting a straightforward deception on him, they go with a multi-layered KansasCityShuffle to lull him into a false enough sense of security to be vulnerable to an EngineeredPublicConfession. And at the end, they take over his casino and actually convince a crowd of Ponies to ''pay money to sit in an empty theater and use nothing but their own imaginations to make up for the post-Gladmane lack of actual services''.
