A Broken Base is not an expression of an opinion, but noting the opinions of others. Whether those opinions are well thought out or not is up to the reader. The example is not one sided criticism either, as it acknowledges that some fans thought it was fine.

* GeniusBonus: One of Dash's Daring-Do posters has the subtitle "Riddle of the Sphinx". So what ''was'' the riddle of the sphinx? Besides the common one -- "What walks on four legs, then two, then three?" -- there is another, which may be even more ancient. It's about two sisters who constantly create one another: day and night.

Yet it's one of the highlights of the episode, especially for fans of Aloe and Lotus Blossom. Unfortunately, the credits only identify her as "Spa Pony."

Broken Base is more than just one-sided criticism. The Mane Six are hardly idiots in decorating with their own bias, particularly since they realize their own mistake rather quickly. An Idiot Ball can hardly apply when it doesn\'t derail an entire plot or character. And just putting books in the castle was precisely the thing that would remind her of the library.

* BrokenBase: The TooManyCooksSpoilTheSoup aspect of the Mane 6 redecorating Twilight's castle. The trope listed is a bit exaggerated. Paranoia Fuel implies something or someone scary and or deadly can catch someone at any time, hardly something as mundane as a harmless non-fatal prank.

* ParanoiaFuel: There are numerous Party Cannons hidden about the castle, loaded and armed, and even Pinkie (the pony who hid them in the first place) has forgotten where they are.

Much of this came off as some complaining about Twilight and friends not angsting about the library enough, and or deciding not to like it because it\'s not what they thought it would be. Accept the episode on it\'s own merits, complaining about what\'s not there is hardly a valid criticism. And predictability has never been a notable problem with fans.

* BrokenBase: The TooManyCooksSpoilTheSoup aspect of the Mane 6 redecorating Twilight's castle. To most older viewers, the whole thing came off as very predictable, and while some fans were able to see past this in terms of their overall opinion of the episode (particularly, the lesson that it's teaching to the younger viewers that make up its target audience), others have criticized it for taking time away from the cast reminiscing about Golden Oaks Library and how the Mane 6 [[IdiotBall came off as idiots]] who had no idea of what Twilight is interested in (despite knowing her for four seasons) and instead decorated the castle based on their own preferences.

** There was also the way Rarity persuaded Spike to stall Twilight by batting her eyes at him in a seductive manner.

One Scene Wonder is for characters. A hairdo is not a character.

Yet it's one of the highlights of the episode, especially for fans of Aloe and Lotus Blossom. There's also Twilight's interesting hairdo she gets here, which has ''really'' taken off in the fandom.
