*** Monday Night Combat is a typical Xbox Live Arcade game. It doesn't have a whole lot of content and doesn't put much emphasis on unlocks. Outside unlocking at least one custom class, which takes very little time, everything else that gets unlocked is a BraggingRightsReward.
*** Super Monday Night Combat, on the other hand, has a lot more content compared to Super Monday Night Combat, but most of the content is locked and it is very tedious to unlock anything without spending real world money.

None of that is seen to any large degree in gameplay. It is [[{{JustifiedTrope}} justified]] since in-universe MNC is [[{{BreadAndCircuses}} meant to distract people from how bad things are]] [[{{FridgeBrilliance}} so they would try and speak of it as little as possible]], but it's still frustrating.

** Late game jungle encounters become steeped in ParanoiaFuel courtesy of the Bouncers. They're not too menacing in a straight fight, but they will grapple you they get close enough-- and they will, if you're focusing on, say, defending the Annihilator or fighting Chickey Cantor. Depending on when this happens, [[UpToEleven ONE single grapple from a Bouncer can change the tide of an entire match.]] Player spawned ones can also be a serious nuisance while on defense.

If you happen to be in its line of fire when the enemy team sets it off, it will also likely be the last thing you hear before getting tore apart. Jackbots also have a foreboding rumbling that can be heard from quite a distance, and if that Jackbot happens to be an enemy, your day is about to get a whole lot worse.
