Added DiffLines:

* ExcusePlot: Given that the plot is not as in-depth as in the first game, some players view it as this. However, if that is the case, it seems to be that the main plot is an excuse for ''side'' plots: the loyalty missions for each character are incredibly well-done and appear in the section of the journal that includes story missions, rather than side quests.

Put good bad bugs about Fem Shep dress here (from main Shepard page)

Added DiffLines:

* GoodBadBugs: Not really a bug, but funny as hell. During one conversation with Garrus, [=FemShep=] will sit on a nearby crate with her legs slightly apart. With all of the normal casual outfits this is fine, but if Shep is wearing the LittleBlackDress from the Kasumi DLC it's downright unladylike. The fact that Garrus reacts with embarrassment to the topic of the conversation makes it hilarious.

*** It's mentioned in the Codex that the geth invented the thermal clip system used in the second game, and that the other species picked it up after observing it in use at the Battle of the Citadel.

** The hammerhead can be summed up succinctly: "Unreal Tournament called, they want their Manta back." It turns levels into something out of a shoot-em-up arcade, where somehow the thing has an unlimited supply of missiles, without any explanation as to how it has a bottomless magazine (unlike the mass accelerator guns on the Mako), has big bright flashy indicators for its mining thing (and why does it dance around anyway?) and jump jets, and is hardly anywhere near as durable as the Mako was.
** As for the planet scanning... if you've played it, you'll know why it's this.

*** They also have a WeaksauceWeakness where if you shoot them in the hips, they come apart at the midsection. Aim low with the Vindicator Battle Rifle and you can take one out with a single trigger pull (on Normal difficulty, at least). Of course, drawing a bead at all can be a different issue...

Added DiffLines:

*** Miranda's mouth movements aren't great either. It's more about the structure, though; Jack, Samara and Thane don't have the same problems.

Moved YMMV. Also, removed the Memetic Mutation for Mordin, since there\'s nothing memetic about it. Also Ensemble Darkhorse for Harbinger. A) Because I disagree with that. And B) Because he\'s the main villain. Also Memetic Mutation, because Fountainof Memes has it covered.

'''Jack'''

* FanNickname: [=SuZe=] was her nickname before people knew it was "Jack". Short for "''Su''bject ''Ze''ro". It's fallen out of use now.
* JerkassWoobie: As revealed by her loyalty mission, [[spoiler:Jack was constantly tortured by Cerberus in order to turn her into the ultimate weapon. When she was a kid, she would be thrown into an arena to fight to the death against wild animals and other biotic kids, in addition to the brutality she had to endure from the scientists and guards.]]
* [[WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds Woobie, Destroyer Of Worlds]]: See JerkassWoobie above. Even after she gets some closure via her loyalty mission, she admits that she "still kinda want[s] to kill everyone [she] meet[s]."

'''Jacob Taylor'''

* MemeticMutation: Heavy risk... [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=G4ze_R3TevE But the PRIIIIIZE]].
* NarmCharm: His romance path is not known for being especially well-written.
** Though it did provide a nice meme.

'''Miranda Lawson'''

* CanonSue: {{BioWare}} uses Miranda to explore the entire concept of the [[MarySue perfect human]]. She's unbelievably gorgeous, brilliant and skilled. She is those things because her father, an egotistical prick, designed her that way in a lab. [[DeconstructedTrope Miranda is tortured by all of those gifts, seeing in them constant evidence of her father's influence.]]
* JerkassWoobie
* MemeticMutation: DAT ASS.

'''Mordin'''

* EarWorm: [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXiU6kiq_Ms Singing Mordin.]]

'''Samara'''

'''Zaeed Massani'''

* MemeticMutation: Zaeed once went out to dinner with his family. He was the only survivor.
[[/folder]]

[[folder: Secret Characters '''SPOILERS''']]
'''Legion'''

* UglyCute
* ValuesDissonance: A lot of Legion's dialogue involves it explaining how the geth operate in terms both Shepard and the player can understand. During its loyalty quest, Legion will agree with Renegade Shepard's point that organic and synthetic moral values are fundamentally different when the other teammate questions the moral ramifications of rewriting the programming of the heretics, explaining that organics are individuals and that consensus takes time and effort whereas there are no individuals among synthetics and that communication between them is instantaneous. Legion will even go as far as saying that it would be racist to think otherwise.
** While there are a lot of differences between the geth and organic life, it is still possible to find common ground. The following quote can be ValuesResonance for a lot of people:
--->'''Legion:''' The geth believe all intelligent life must [[http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-determination self-determinate]].

'''Morinth'''

* AlasPoorVillain: After killing her, Samara quietly despairs about how she's forced to kill her most talented daughter.
* ChaoticEvil
* [[MagnificentBastard Magnificent Bitch]]: Samara considers her as such, calling her "The bravest and smartest of [her] daughters."
* WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds: Once again, [[SubvertedTrope it's all an act.]]

[[folder: NPCs]]

'''Quarian Admirals'''

* NeverLiveItDown: The name of Zaal'Koris's ship, the ''Qwib Qwib'', so named because it's a repurposed ship that was originally non-Quarian and the Quarians are unable to format the ship's registration documentation. [[TemptingFate Tali warns Shepard not to ask about the name,]] but Shepard can inquire anyway.
** The ensuing dialog implies that there are Quarians toting names that end in vas Defrahnz or vas Iktomi, completely unaware of what they sound like to humans.

'''The Illusive Man'''

* InternetBackdraft: Pretty much ''any'' topic about the Illusive Man will eventually devolve to whether he's a [[NecessarilyEvil Necessary Evil]] or a CompleteMonster.
* MagnificentBastard: Until the final major choice of the game, ''everything'' that happens in the story is driven by the Illusive Man.

'''Kal'Reegar'''

* EnsembleDarkhorse: To the degree that people want him back in ME3 as a squadmate.
** Most people wanted him as a squaddie as early as in ME2 after seeing him for the first time in one of the pre-release trailers.

'''Kelly Chambers'''

* PlayerPunch: [[spoiler:Remember when you told her you'd get everyone through the mission alive? If you didn't go directly through the Omega-4 relay after the Collectors invaded the Normandy, you get to watch her disintegrated alive and screaming.]]
** [[spoiler: Not exactly... You can do precisely two major missions or assignments after the Collectors clean out the Normandy before Kelly is on the chopping block.]]
* PoisonOakEpilepticTrees: So, how did the [[http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/1506800/1 Varren scale-itch]] get on board? [[ButYouScrewOneGoat Do you really want to know?]]
** [[PerverseSexualLust Yes we do. In graphic detail]].

'''Aria T'Loak'''

* EnsembleDarkhorse: LargeHam. [[MemeticMutation Memetic]] PrecisionFStrike. JerkWithAHeartOfGold. FetishFuelStationAttendant. {{Badass}}. WorthyOpponent to one of the most popular characters in the fandom ([[EpilepticTrees probably]]). Her popularity ''far'' overshadows [[OneSceneWonder her screen time]].
* EpilepticTrees: There are more than a few involving her, one being that she's acquainted with Wrex, [[spoiler:which is heavily hinted at in-game.]]
* MemeticMutation: Once more: "[[PrecisionFStrike Don't]] ''[[PrecisionFStrike fuck]]'' [[PrecisionFStrike with Aria]]."

'''Urz'''

* EnsembleDarkhorse
* UglyCute

'''Matriarch Aethyta'''

* EnsembleDarkhorse: She's at least as popular as some of Shepard's squad thanks to her combination of being a CoolOldLady and DeadpanSnarker.

'''Harbinger'''

* FountainOfMemes: "'''Assuming direct control! This hurts you. If I must tear you apart, Shepard, I will. We are Harbinger. Direct intervention is necessary.'''" And so on and so forth.

'''The Collector General'''

* TheWoobie: [[spoiler: Many people feel sorry for it considering it was most likely under Harbinger's control it's entire life and the ending cinematic has it looking around in what looks like confusion and sorrow when Harbinger releases control.]]
** [[spoiler: If expressionless bug aliens could make an OhCrap face, that's what it would have done right then.]]
** The fanbase as a whole has a soft spot for this guy. I mean, just ''look'' at all the Sympathetic Villain tropes he has.

'''Overlord'''

* HellIsThatNoise
* HighOctaneNightmareFuel [[NightmareFuelStationAttendant Station Attendant]]

to:

* TaintedByThePreview: The first teaser for the game was met by quite the reaction, as was [[TattooedCrook Jack's]] reveal.reveal.

* UncannyValley: A lot of the faces just don't look ''quite'' right. Miranda's potato-shaped face (i.e., she does not look like she does on the game box) is probably the most noticeable one. The Unreal Engine 3's age is starting to show with its inability to handle flowing water without significant modification; PC Gamer's review wondered why the characters cried "oil slicks." Dr. Chakwas's face is particularly frightening in the brief moment when she swivels in her chair to face you before a conversation.
** And don't forget [[http://social.bioware.com/forum/1/topic/105/index/2247010/1 Shepard himself]]. (It's not much better if Shepard is female.)
** The Illusive Man may be this ''deliberately''. According to one Dev Diary, they deliberately made him perfectly symmetrical. Combine that with the normal mapping on his skin, and he's deep in the valley.
** Ditto with Miranda. It also boils down to how much you dig Yvonne Strahovski. This troper found Miranda's... assessments right on the money.
** Jacob has big teeth. VERY big teeth. Not fangs, just big big teeth. And the way his mouth moves accentuates exactly how big they are. In certain lights they look as though made of silver or chrome too, which we can only hope [[UnfortunateImplications wasn't intentional]].
** Morinth and Samara, despite being modeled on the same woman, have different animations. Samara looks a lot more normal than Morinth and her creepy square teeth and her creepy smile.

Neither of these count because you have plenty of opportunities to avoid them beforehand. Wall bangers in video games are usually all about the /lack/ of such opportunities.

** Speaking of loyalty, there's the argument between Jack and Miranda after their missions. Failing the paragon/renegade check here will reduce one of their loyalty levels. In order to have one not get dead you'll need a full four bars on either side. Hopefully you had a nice save bonus.
** There's also the random distribution of main storyline events. While most have little bearing, the [[spoiler: crew's abduction]] before the suicide mission is terrible. Haven't gotten full loyalty of your entire crew? Well you can do their missions, but in doing so [[spoiler:half the crew dies before you can get there]]. Congratulations. Hopefully you have good prior save point; if not, enjoy your BadEnd.

* ExcusePlot: There isn't really very much done with the fact that you have a new race of aliens who is abducting entire colonies. Or with the fact that you die and get brought back to life two years later. Or with the fact that you're working with a rogue-ops organization who's committed crimes against humanity (and probably every other race as well). The party members are complete aversions, though.
** It could be argued that the ''main'' plot is an Excuse Plot, but the characters' ''sub''-plots aren't.
*** That perfectly matches how I feel, and I'm the one who originally posted that "Excuse Plot" entry. The character subplots are excellently detailed -- and maybe ''they're'' what the main plot is an "excuse" for.
*** It's hard to really say the overall plot is an Excuse Plot as the final game hasn't come yet and we can't really know the effects it will have on the finale. Though the most important points do come at character critical junctions. You could say it's a bridging act, but a very important bridging act.

** Less fatalistic, but equally frustrating, are the pets Shepard can pick up. The Space Hamster requires no care, but all of the fish you can get need to be fed constantly. Every time you are on the ''Normandy'', you need to hit the button that feeds the fish. Failure to do so ends up in a tank full of dead fish.
