* HilariousInHindsight: "The Garden of Forking Paths" basically predicts {{Gamebook}} novels. And in an amusing case of NamesTheSame, a character in said story is named Creator/RichardMadden.

* AwardSnub: Borges never got a Nobel prize for literature. Supposedly he was in the running, but was told not to go to Chile and meet with UsefulNotes/AugustoPinochet. Borges not only met with Pinochet, but praised him for his tough stance on communism, and was subsequently removed from the Nobel prize list.

[[note]]For the record, Pinochet's "tough stance on communism" involved the murder of between 1,200 and 3,200 Chilean citizens and the torture of tens of thousands.[[/note]]

* FreudWasRight: "The Cult of the Phoenix" won't be any more about gay sex no matter how much people say it is. Fittingly, though, a mass literary reinterpretation like that is right out of a Borges story, making this a case of life imitating art.

I like borges but calling the Nobel Committee Stalinist is a huge stretch: It\'s winners include such anti-Stalinists as Camus, Solzhenitsyn, Winston Churchill, Bertrand Russell and non-political authors like Beckett, Faulkner and Halldor Laxness. They also awarded Boris Pastenak.

Borges not only met with Pinochet, but praised him for his tough stance on communism, and was subsequently removed from the Nobel prize list. Some called foul on this, as the prize had been awarded to authors who wrote in favor of Josef Stalin.
