As much as I hate to defend the comic, I will say that Fnar actually wasn\'t a product of rape. However, I believe it was explained in the supplemental materials, not the comic proper. Also, the girl is from \"All Work and No Play.\"

** Rape is essentially a good thing in this universe. [[http://www.pholph.com/artwork/37/374f3e20237c58845be91c27080d84db/Jack20130715.jpg God endorses pain and tragedy as a means of helping souls grow]], there's the infamous "Fnar Gets Saved" issue, and perhaps most unfortunately, Jack states that Fnar's mother was already damned by the time she became pregnant, but that motherhood might have saved her. This marks one of the few times, possibly the only time, a character has been suggested to have been able to find redemption ''before'' their death, ''without'' the interference of Heaven or Hell, had she given birth to the child she'd conceived by rape.
** A guy goes to Purgatory and is content with that, but a bunch of angels sexually harass him until he agrees to go back and try again for Heaven, even if that means that the EasyRoadToHell is going to be much, much easier to take. The angels tell him that they weren't ''really'' going to rape him, they were going to tease him and then tell him that if he reincarnated and went to Heaven... he'd get sex with a girl he liked in life. Not love, not companionship: sex. We don't see that girl and we don't know anything about her except that she exists; we have to take the angels' word for it that she would agree to any of this. Bottom line: for a man, getting sex from a specific woman of his choosing is so important, he will bet his soul on thousand-to-one odds for a chance at it.

It doesn\'t matter if Drip is real or not. Farrago was still told not to help the victim \"because reasons,\" and the victim still had her torturer/rapist in some form or another in her Heaven. Also, I\'ve told the mods about all the Edit Wars and Natter on these pages. If this continues, I\'ll ask them to lock it again.

Discussion in the entry. The example is self-explanatory: the TOWERS go to Heaven and Hell, meaning the people IN them are being judged according to where they died, not how they lived.

*** How? It's stated that the other one of the Twin Towers ended up in heaven, and considering how many people died in that tragedy, it stands to reason that a lot of souls would be going to both heaven and hell, and assuming which building they were in contributed to where they went seems like a rather long stretch to make just so you can put an entry under UnfortunateInplications.

Whoever\'s posting these, you seem to enjoy deliberately twisting the facts, don\'t you? In the first example, you should know full well that that\'s not what the implication is; it\'s more that Divine Intervention can\'t solve everyone\'s problems. And the second example, that\'s not *actually* Drip, it\'s just a representation of him meant to remind the woman that he can\'t hurt her anymore. Seriously, do you just enjoy reading your own posts or what?

*** It's explicitly stated that he could have gotten reincarnated at any point. They allowed him to be with his mother, something he wanted and something good for her while she suffered in Hell. They wouldn't just reincarnate him without letting her see him at least once because even though she was in Hell, she still loved him. He wasn't forced to stay in Hell, he wanted to hang out with Jack and be with his mother. Heaven allowed him to stay for Jack because nothing in Hell would be able to hurt him, aside from his own parents and they seemed to, mistakenly, think that it was unlikely he'd run into Drip.

*** Wrong. Normal people on Earth have normal eyes as well. Yes, Fnar's eyes were dots, but that meant a completely different thing from the residents of Hell. They were dots because he died before being born and was thus innocent and ignorant of EVERYTHING. He had little to no understanding of anything going on around him. Being raped by Drip forced him to experience real pain and shattered his innocence. He became like a normal person, with the knowledge and experience of suffering.

I still believe that Jack\'s tirade to Nathan kinda dulls the knife a bit. It\'s still a bit unfortunate, but less so since Jack says that all religions have people like Nathan, not just Islam.

** If you die somehow while still in the womb, you go straight to Hell for some reason. Moving Idiot Ball to the Characters page, since it\'s not YMMV. Moving So Bad Its Good to the front page because it\'s an Invoked Trope

* IdiotBall: Farrago practically dribbles hers when [[spoiler: Fnar is raped by Drip,]] and we find out that he ''could'' have gone on to be born some time ago, but she left him in Hell anyway because cared more about helping Jack emotionally than she was about protecting the soul of an innocent kid. Best angel ever.

* SoBadItsGood: The BS arc [[http://www.pholph.com/whole_arc_viewer.php?id=5&sid=1508 Frigid McThunderbones]] would certainly fall into this category. David Hopkins has quite clearly set out to use this trope in the entire arc. Not only does he parody a wide variety of awful material, but he does it in such a way it's actually funny at times (which is somewhat surprising, considering that ''Jack'' is normally a serious story comic).

Wanted to expand upon the example here and add my own. There\'s a ton of U Is, but these will do for now.

* UnfortunateImplications: Fnar's entire time spent in Hell tells us a couple of things: being killed in the womb is a sin (Fnar isn't the only person who died before being born whose soul was sent to Hell, either), and rape is a sin ''for the victim'' (Fnar's eyes are opened by being raped by Drip). And then there's Farrago's reaction to being strangled, terrified, and nearly killed by Jack, which is to forgive and literally forget instead of realizing that he's an abuser and she isn't wrong to want to distance herself from him, but no one else thinks she messed up by letting an innocent child wander around Hell where Drip could get to him just to try to "save" the Sin of Wrath, who, by his very nature and definition, ''cannot be saved''. Add in the fact that Drip and Jack are both AuthorAvatars (and Fnar is reincarnated into the son of ''another'' AuthorAvatar).. it does not paint a pretty picture.
* ValuesDissonance: Readers who don't believe in a particular brand of monotheism often experience this.

One of these is that almost no one is good enough to get into Heaven, and almost everyone who goes Hell will never get out... not because of anything they do or don't do personally, but because Hell itself can screw them out of their chance at redemption.
* FreudWasRight:
** Sometimes when Jack drags somebody into his cloak, it looks a little, umm...[[http://www.pholph.com/artwork/37/374f3e20237c58845be91c27080d84db/Jack20010404.jpg suggestive]].
** The way Bob and Lisa eat their victims alive can easily be described as "rape by vore."
* GeniusBonus:
** Plato [[http://www.pholph.com/strip.php?id=5&sid=1263 saw his master killed]] [[Literature/TheRepublic for his views on civilization]].
** So why the blazes is God a sheep? Well, obviously, she's the [[StealthPun Lamb]] of [[Literature/TheBible God.]]
* MagnificentBastard: Edmond Vade, and how. Also, Kane.
* MoralEventHorizon:
** Drip, embodiment of the Sin of Lust, likely hurled himself across it at some point in the backstory, as we know he was a murderer and [[RapeIsASpecialKindOfEvil rapist]] in life. Then he did...[[http://www.pholph.com/strip.php?id=5&sid=1196 this.]] However, his first (chronologically speaking) crossing of the MEH would have to be when the Devil takes him back in time to murder his own parents. Not that he knows who they are, but given the sheer brutality in how he murders his father and [[http://www.pholph.com/strip.php?id=5&sid=3611 handles his mother]] (WARNING, VERY NSFW), it almost doesn't matter. (Even ''he'' is horrified by this once he [[MyGodWhatHaveIDone realises who they are]]!)
** The Vorshes stuck a living, conscious woman in an oven, cooked her, and [[IAmAHumanitarian ate her]] the first night they met.
* SnarkBait: Many people only read the comic for this reason. A site that collects rewrites of the various arcs can be found [[http://kate-comics.tumblr.com/ here]].
* {{Squick}}: Too many examples to list here, but [[http://www.pholph.com/strip.php?id=5&sid=1312 "So This Family Walks Into This Talent Agency..."]] summarizes how gross the strip can be, with Hopkins' take on the old TheAristocrats joke.
* ValuesDissonance: Readers who don't believe in a particular brand of monotheism often experience this.
* TheWoobie: Point at any character, there is a 70% probability that he or she ''is'', save for the Sins. However, Drip as a child may be one, based on what his [[spoiler: grandmother]] put him through. Had that not happened, Drip most likely have turned out differently. The "How to Make a Monster" arc shows us that Drip as a child was not only [[spoiler: repeatedly molested by his grandmother]], but also constantly reminded [[spoiler: that he killed his parents as an infant.]] The [[http://www.pholph.com/strip.php?id=5&sid=3608 rationale]] used is questionable, at the very least. [[spoiler: And yet? She's [[StableTimeLoop ''right.'']] Not in the way she thinks, perhaps, but her ExactWords are correct.]]
