The only passibly mean thing he does is taunt the town people they won't be able to stop him building that mall. Which is StupidEvil, because those people are his potential customers. Miley actually thinks the mall development is a good idea at first before being told down by her grandmother. [[note]] However, as WebVideo/ToddInTheShadows pointed out, Malls turned out to be a bad long-term business plan with the advent of Online Shopping and especially with the 2020 pandemic forcing malls to close down.[[/note]]

** Christian Serratos and Creator/KharyPayton from ''Series/TheWalkingDead'' turn up as Amber's friend Alexa and a director, in Seasons 1 and 2, respectively.

* AlternativeCharacterInterpretation: The ''entire town'' from the movie. Are they supportive of Miley keeping her lives separate? Or completely uncaring about her baring her soul and finally being honest with herself as they'd rather just have the teen starlet?

* {{Anvilicious}}: At times, especially [[VerySpecialEpisode the episode where Oliver's diabetes is revealed]].

* FanPreferredCouple: Though Miley and Lilly ends up with Jesse and Oliver respectively, most fans ship them together. This is due to the fact that their friendship is the main focus of most episodes, including the premier and final episode. The movie also put greater focus on their relationship then Miley's designated BoyOfTheWeek. On both Website/ArchiveOfOurOwn and Website/FanfictionDotNet, Liley fanfiction dominates canonical fanfiction, as apposed to ones based on Music/MileyCyrus that are often falsely slotted with the show's.

* HarsherInHindsight: Hey, remember the episode where Hannah was worried about being inappropriate and a bad influence on her fans?

* HilariousInHindsight: Mikayla played by Music/SelenaGomez is actually lip-synching her song. Though the fact that Selena's voice sounds better than the one on the song should be a giveaway.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodCharacter: [[BlackBestFriend Jackson's friend Cooper]] is only shown in a grand total of six episodes and rarely even mentioned after that. He seems to have served as the StraightMan of the two and would have been perfect as the voice of reason for Jackson. Not to mention he was shown to have some interesting HiddenDepths (like baking) that would have been nice to explore had he appeared in the series more often.

But as the years went on, Disney Channel [[FollowTheLeader started making more shows]] like ''Hannah Montana'' in the hopes of replicating its success, triggering a major DorkAge for the channel that lasted until 2017 and driving those who aren't teenage girls away. Miley Cyrus' subsequent [[{{Understatement}} child-unfriendly behavior]] and short-lived marriage to Liam Hemsworth only further tarnished the show's legacy. Today, the franchise (along with ''Film/HighSchoolMusical'') is blamed for Disney Channel's NetworkDecay and is nowhere near as popular as it was back in 2006 - 2011, but still maintains a cult following.

* UncannyValley: Two little instances. One is during an episode where Jackson is battling a candy addiction, where in the ending he's spoken to in a seductive voice by a chocolate bunny. The second is when Jackson procures a ventriloquist doll, who comes alive at the end.
