Folding some tags together, for coherency's sake, since the old Snark Baid was a clear case of Square Peg Round Trope. Also, "It's not even a game!" is fake criticism, and that whole Gamer Gate biz was over a *completely different game*.

that publishing company advertises itself as a fun and "weird" enterprise fond of cult-shorts and camp. No where does it seem to be "conspiracy nuts". Also trying to villainize queer youth running away from toxic environments for their own personal health and happiness is a pretty gross thing to do.

It's a LOVE STORY. How is it sudden or jarring if the entire crux of the game slowly and clearly builds up to it from the beginning??

"audience alienating premise" only applies if the story/game was not a success. Gone Home has been a huge success. also its not really "fridge horror" if its pretty directly clear from the beginning, along with 1,500 dollars not being something likely to seriously make-or-break a family of 4 who could afford a trip to europe

these are both inaccurate, out of character of the parents, and also just plain fishing for things to complain about.

they pretty specfically are in denial that they're in a relationship at all. The parents could just as easily forbid her from seeing each other if it was simply being a "bad influence".

they were in denial that they were dating at all, and it seemed the marriage counseling was a sudden choice they decided to take on short notice, not to mention the player arrives early
