** In the episode, ''Grease'', Kylie offhandedly warns the others to not spend so much time on the Internet, because the government could likely see and track everything they do. She's even reading a huge book about conspiracies in the scene. It doesn't seem like much, until you remember this was a ''cartoon that aired in 1997'', a whole 16 years before the now-infamous surveillance programs were publicly revealed.

* CompleteMonster: [[''WesternAnimation/TheRealGhostBusters'' The Grundel]] returns, 10 years after he was captured by the original Ghostbusters. It is revealed that he has a connection to one of the new Ghostbusters, Kylie. The Grundel tried to corrupt Kylie as a child, but she was too strong willed, so he corrupted her friend Jack instead. Deciding that Kylie's influence will mean that Jack will not be a keeper, the Grundel places Jack in a cocoon for 10 years, so that he will become another Grundel, thus managing to steal ten years of Jack's life. When Kylie confronts the original Grundel about this new Grundel, the Grundel taunts Kylie about their past history and the fate of her former childhood friend. The Grundel later escapes from the containment unit and tries to corrupt Roland's brother Casey. When Kylie manages to confront the Grundel, Kylie says she is not afraid of him, because his powers only work on children. The Grundel knows this, but thinks it would be fun to murder Kylie anyway.

* NightmareFuel: It has often been cited how the spirits and creatures seen in the show could get surprisingly gruesome and monstrous for a "kids'" cartoon.
** It's not just physical appearance. What they ''do'' can be ''really'' creepy, as seen in these examples:
*** How many kid's shows could have an evil trio of ghosts that were inspired by CliveBarker's ''{{Hellraiser}}''?
*** Or, for that matter, uses a VERY similar plot to ''{{In the Mouth of Madness}}''. [[spoiler: think about it: A creepy group of monsters force their way into our world by having an author write about them, thus giving them life. The main difference is that G.N. Kline is unwilling, and the whole 'experimenting on the humans' thing.]]
*** This troper is near-sighted and has a slight fear of losing his sight - and as a result, the episode featuring a Class-13 demon (a level of ghost that no incarnation of the Ghostbusters have ever faced before) STOLE PEOPLE'S EYES IF THEY EVEN AS MUCH AS GLANCED AT AN ORB was pretty damn freaky.
*** {{Monster Clown}}s that force you to laugh and then devour you alive. Not since [[{{IT}} Pennywise]] was this troper given such a fit of chills.
***** [[spoiler:[[TheVirus Oh, and laughter isn't the only thing infectious about them: Eduardo found out the hard way.]]]]
*** Poor [[strike:R.L. Stine]] G.N. Kline. Stuck in a living chair that clamps his hands down, forcing him to type up stories forever and ever and ever.
*** "The Crawler": Janine meets a handsome man who wants to make her his queen. {{Body Horror}} included.
*** Any victim who fails to answer the Sphynx's riddle. He opens his human-like mask, revealing a mass of tentacles and a giant circular maw which suck away the person's intelligence, leaving them a drooling, bug eyed {{Empty Shell}} with zero brainwave patterns. And according to Egon, the sphynx was also responsible for wiping nearly the entire population of Thebes, leaving pestilence, plague, and horror in its wake.
*** The Ghost Bride, a skinless, flesh-exposed floating ghost woman who hunts down one of the {{Victim Of The Week}} after he wishes from a haunted well for a wife. It tries countless times to drain his life force and keeps sprouting again and again from the well (the well being the only thing to banish it for good) even after the Ghostbusters team have captured it and put it in containment. In addition, it is capable of traveling from any reflective surface, meaning anyplace with mirrors is a potential portal for the Ghost Bride to come out and drain your life force. {{Paranoia Fuel}} much.
*** The Chinese ghost Gu Mo seamlessly removes the bones of his victims, leaving them looking like semi-liquid fleshy puddles incapable of movement yet still alive. The appearance of animal-like skulls implies he doesn't just do this to humans.
** And if the episode itself doesen't scare you the [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4fTDfwfLlZQ closing credits]] will
