* AlternateCharacterInterpretation: Because mothy writes his characters to be complex and morally ambiguous, this often occurs among his villainous characters.
** Eve Moonlit and Allen Avadonia each deserve a special mention. Is Eve an AxCrazy sorceress with a deranged psyche or a broken woman whose delusions were a result of [[spoiler: the Venom given her?]] Is Allen a {{Jerkass}} who glorifies the murder of innocent people in order to protect his sister, or is he a [[BigBrotherInstinct selfless sibling]] acting in extremely conflicted circumstances?
** In-Universe example with Margarita Blankenheim, where the PV ponders whether she was a psychopath who took joy in killing others, or if she was simply manipulated by Julia.
* BrokenBase: There are many Evillious fans that take issue with the twists brought by the novels, such as [[spoiler: Venomania being Cherubim and having a face on his cheek or Allen not really killing Michaela.]] Some preferred the vague nature of the songs that allowed for a lot more interpretation.
* CrackPairing: Platonic/Arte is very popular, strangely enough.
** Ichika, the artist most commonly associated with the Chronicles, has made a comic of Riliane/Banica.
** [[ShipsThatPassInTheNight Venomania/Gallerian]] or Vanomania/Kachess is quite popular in the Chronicles' yaoi fandom as well.
* CrowningMusicOfAwesome: Pretty much all of the songs, really.
** According to some fans, ''The Daughter of Evil'' and ''The Servant of Evil'' really take the cake. They're considered the songs that made the Evillious Chronicles so popular in the first place.
* DracoInLeatherPants: Duke Venomania is infamous for this, since despite brainwashing, kidnapping and raping countless women, there are some fan girls who want to willingly join his harem at their own free will due [[FreudianExcuse feeling bad for his troubled past]], and [[HandsomeDevil being handsome]], and....did we mention that he's really handsome?
* EarWorm: The "Lu, Li, La" part of the Clockwork Lullaby series is pretty much guaranteed to get stuck in your head. Though, being a franchise that started with songs, there are plenty more in the Chronicles.
* EnsembleDarkhorse: Many. [[NiceGuy Rajih]], [[FailOSuckyName Neruneru]], [[BadassAdorable Chartette]], and, of course, [[IncrediblyLamePun Josephine]].
* FanDisservice / FetishRetardant: In ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1S7YxfZiJqM Flower of the Plateau]]'', we get a completely nude image of Mikulia. Pretty hot, huh? Nope. Not only is her [[spoiler: lower half seemingly ''[[BodyHorror mutated graphically to look like a flower]]'', but one of her breasts has a massive slug crawling on it. Ewwwww.]]
* FanPreferredCouple: Kyle/Germaine, judging by some
* FandomBerserkButton: Go to any group of mothy fans and say that ''The Last Revolver'' is undeniably the song for Wrath. We ''dare'' you...
** Any new fan who says that the ''Story of Evil'' characters were reincarnated as Vocaloids.
* FreudWasRight: The Sin Vessel of Lust is a ''sword''.
* HellIsThatNoise: The guillotine sound in ''Daughter of Evil'' and ''Servant of Evil'', except in certain versions where it just sounds like a rope being cut, and other versions where it's left out entirely.
** The gunshot in ''The Last Revolver.'' [[spoiler:As well as the second one.]]
**Also the sound of Irina [[spoiler: stabbing Elluka in the back at the end of ''Survival 'Ma'''.]]
* InternetBackdraft: Discussing whom Michaela loved is a pretty good way to start an argument in some circles. Fanmade songs, such as ''Daughter of Green'' and at least two different songs titled ''Prince of Blue'', get cited as evidence rather frequently in favor of either Kyle or Allen. Information from the books isn't as easily accessible, but they contain the clearest explanations as to Michaela's relationship, with most canon songs leaving it as ambiguous. On rare occasions, an argument against Clarith x Michaela will insist that DiscountLesbians or HeterosexualLifePartners are in play, and the conversation sharply turns into a debate on whether or not that claim is homophobic.
* LesYay:
** In the trailer for ''Praeludium of Red'', there's a brief image of Elluka and Gumilia looking awfully chummy...
** ''The Lunacy of Duke Venomania'' Manga adaptation makes Lukana Octo a walking magnet of these. She was good friends with Lilien Turner (a baker), and bought her a beautiful bracelet to match hers. In fact, looking for Lukana is Lilien's motivation to follow the duke at first. There's also a scene where Lukana is hugging and talking to Mikulia about the duke/their situation. Mikulia's only answer is that she loves Venomania... and she also loves Lukana.
** The scanned images for the Conchita novel have an...[[LesYay interesting]] image of Platonic and Elluka together.
* MagnificentBastard: Gallerian Marlon.
** Also, [[spoiler: Prim Marlon]]. Maybe it's a family trait?
** Irina deserves special mention here, as not only [[spoiler: is she pretty much the one manipulating nearly everything behind the events of ''Story of Evil'']], we could fill an entire article just listing each one of her schemes in the entire Chronicles.
** Ma, too.
* MemeticBadass: [[CuteBruiser Chartette]] [[BadassBookworm Langley]].
* MemeticMolester: Kyle Marlon, due to his epilogue in the Fanbook stating that he started [[MaybeEverAfter living]] with [[ChildrenAreInnocent Yukina Freesis]] after traveling the world as a painter. (Although with no dates specified she could well have been of age by that point.)
** There's also his [[ArrangedMarriage engagement]] to Riliane and crush on the physically teenage Michaela. That he was possessed by the Demon of Lust didn't help...
* MemeticMutation: After ''Story of Evil'''s novels were released, fans are prone to making comments that go "CURSE YOU [[spoiler: [[EvilMatriarch PRIM]] [[ManipulativeBastard MARLON]]]]!"
** Another early one was "IT'S ALL KAITO'S FAULT!" due to the fact that whenever something went wrong in the SevenDeadlySins series, a character played by KAITO would usually be the indirect cause.
** Not to mention that before [[DealWithTheDevil the truth came out]] about how the hell Conchita was so thin, it was a widely accepted meme to say that it all went to her boobs.
** Jokes about Allen's [[OffWithHisHead beheading.]]
** Mothy himself has become a memetic MagnificentBastard.
** People joking and complaining about when the Wrath song is coming out was fairly common before its announced release, particularly claiming the wait was making them angry.
** Complaining about [[FailOSuckyName the names of certain characters.]] [[BilingualBonus Pollo]] and Neruneru being the most common.
** Kachess' memetic habit for cross-dressing.
-->''Yufina's gone missing? Bringing out the drag''
** [[BilingualBonus Pollo]] tasting like chicken.
** The hilariously screwed up version of Clarith from ''Aku Musu'' has become a spokesperson for frustrated fans.
* MisaimedFandom: The Duke from ''The Lunacy of Duke Venomania'' seems to have quite a large fanbase who wish he'd seduce them into his harem.
** [[FridgeBrilliance In other words]], [[TheFourthWallWillNotProtectYou his charms have an effect even on the viewers]]?
** Kayo in ''Tailor of Enbizaka'' gets a bit of this too from fans less in the know.
* MoralEventHorizon: Each [[VillainProtagonist protagonist]] in the ''Seven Deadly Sins Series'' passes this, [[spoiler: except Riliane, who manages to repent and become a better person.]]
** Banica: [[ImAHumanitarian Cannibalism]]
** Kayo: MurderTheHypotenuse (three times) AND IfICantHaveYou.
** Sateraisis: [[RapeAsDrama Rape]] on a wide scale.
** Gallerian: His greed causing him to acquit a rich killer and resulting in outright war.
** Margarita: Murder. On a grand scale. Might also count as DespairEventHorizon.
** Mikulia crosses this when she [[spoiler: kills her own son [[DisproportionateRetribution just to hide the fact that she]] ReallyGetsAround]]
** Prim of ''Story of Evil'' can cross this in one of several places, depending on whether you consider what happened first in the timeline or what the audience got to see first, but the most damning thing comes when the audience finally sees the whole picture: She [[spoiler: triggered two decades' worth of international suffering and warfare, all for the sake of spiting one woman who died halfway through this plot]].
* {{Narm}}: Whenever mothy fails to pull off NightmareFuel or {{Tear Jerker}}s, it usually becomes this. For example, Allen's ''paragraph-long scream'' in the novels.
* NarmCharm: In the Clockworker reprise of ''Recollective Music Box'', it's sung by Hiyama Kiyoteru with varying and oddly tuned pitches that make it sound almost whiny and comical when not considering the lyrics. Considering that the song is about how the two women in the world he loved most are dead, the strange pitches can come across as him singing as he's holding back tears, varying between complete and utter depression for low parts and wailing for the chorus.
* NauseaFuel: ''Evil Food Eater Conchita''.
** Certain parts of ''Madness of Duke Venomania'' might initiate this instead of FetishFuel.
** One of the images in the PV for ''Flower of the Plateau'' can qualify as well. See FanDisservice above.
* NightmareFuel: [[NightmareFuel/{{Mothy}} Has its own page.]]
* {{Squick}}: ''The Madness of Duke Venomania'' has several scenes that are likely to provoke such a reaction.
* WhatCouldHaveBeen: In the Story of Evil, mothy has plenty of these; for a few examples, Germaine’s backstory and how she was adopted by Leonhart was to be touched on in ''Praeludium of Red'', the song ''Kept Waiting for a Response'' was supposed to detail the end moments of [[spoiler: Riliane in the monastery]], and there are some cases of stories that were cut from earlier material but released later, such as ''Retrouver of Silver'' originally planned to play out in ''Clôture of Yellow''.
** ''Abandoned on a Moonlit Night'' apparently was going to be called "Zoo Detention" with, presumably, a completely different plot.
* TheWoobie: Many, but [[LoveMartyr Allen]], [[TooGoodForThisSinfulEarth Micheala]], [[IJustWantToBeNormal Kyle]] and [[IJustWantToHaveFriends Clarith]] in the ''Story of Evil'' stand out.
** And Elluka, who lost everything she held dear in ''Original Sin Story'' and keeps on losing friends throughout the franchise.
** The Clockworker's Doll. The lyrics of ''Master of the Court'' make her something of a WoobieDestroyerOfWorlds too.
-->'''Doll''': How can the lifeless me understand? How can the heartless me understand?
** Kiril Clockworker. He grew up as a ghoul child, had to watch the two people he loved most try to kill each other (one succeeding), [[spoiler: unintentionally destroyed his homeland]], and ended up a poor, miserable and crazy old man in a broken country who lost his gift to make music boxes. His tearful version of ''Recollective Music Box'' from his perspective just makes you wanna give the guy a hug.
*** JerkassWoobie: Riliane.
*** And Venomania, once [[AllOfTheOtherReindeer his]] [[AbusiveParents backstory]] is revealed.
*** [[spoiler: Ney Futapie/Marlon after her death]].
*** Meta Salmhofer.
