Misuse. They Wasted A Perfectly Good Plot is when the authors introduce interesting plot points that are underdeveloped or not touched upon. This example is just complaining that a plot didn't go the way fans would have liked.

* TheyWastedAPerfectlyGoodPlot: The Neighborhood Kids get a lot of screen time dedicated to them, and yet the movie doesn't really do much with them except having them express how much they want to beat up the Eds all the while getting captured by the Kankers. There could have been some time they had on screen questioning about the Eds and why they like to scam so much despite it causing nothing but misfortune for them, and probably even question about Ed and Double D's loyalty to Eddy despite how much of a jerk he is to both of them since the Kids are mainly jerks to them because they always stand by Eddy's side and have shown to have friendly interactions with them when Eddy isn't around, which would really add to the film's intention with diving into the relationships between the characters since it already does with the Eds, and it would also even offer some proper foreshadowing to [[BigBrotherBully Eddy's relationship with his brother]] and add to the Kids' sudden forgiveness of the Eds at the end.

Esoteric Happy Ending is "When the majority of the viewers don't believe that an ending that the creator intended to be happy is happy." These entries are speculation and Fridge Logic riddled with Natter.

* EsotericHappyEnding:
** Slightly swings into this when you consider that Kankers hadn't learned anything during the movie and might demand "reward" for their help later. Unless they're already satisfied [[KickTheSonOfABitch with doing whatever they want with Eddy's brother]].
** Yes, the Eds have been accepted by the kids at the end of the movie, but they'll still probably be in trouble for the collateral damage caused by "The Scam that Went Too Far" (which includes a broken water pipe, an uprooted tree, two damaged back yards, and a house filled with cement).
*** Although everything is shown to be perfectly fine in the ending cutscene where Johnny uses a telescope to overlook the neighborhood. The Eds and the kids probably may have used {{ToonPhysics}} to fix everything.
** Unless it's declared non-canon, "Take This Ed and Shove It" completely overrides this film's happy ending, as the elderly members of the cul-de-sac treat the Eds with as much disdain as they usually did.
*** "Take This Ed and Shove It" actually ''is'' non-canon, as the future shown in that episode was simply a bad dream that Eddy was having. At the end of that episode, where Eddy wishes he were a kid again, the other cul-de-sac kids aren't shown, so they're probably still friends with the Eds, but just not living close to them anymore. As we see the Eds in Eddy's room, it's possible that Eddy either didn't get his own place all those years or moved back in at an older age, with Ed and Edd either visiting or being his roommates, and Eddy wishing he were a kid again could be [[{{AlternativeCharacterInterpretation}} him being nostalgic for the good times he had with the other kids in the events after the movie]].
*** Regardless, ''none'' of the seniors are shown to be in the right state of mind, as is sadly all too common for the elderly, is memories and attitudes are likely distorted.

Example points out the event was properly foreshadowed, thus invalidating the example. Sentences like "is this for some" suggest the example was shoehorned.

* AssPull: Eddy's brother's sociopathic nature was foreshadowed a few times in the original show - most of all in "An Ed is Born" ("No more beatin' up little Eddy, hey, big brother?"), but the ending feels like this to some. All of the damage Eddy took was all of a sudden PlayedForDrama, and the kids instantly forgive and befriend the Eds afterwards.

* {{Padding}}: Pretty much all of the scenes with the Neighborhood Kids and the Kankers trying to find the Eds. They don't really add much development to the plot in regards to any HiddenDepths or TearJerker moments that the Eds provide throughout the movie. As the AssPull entry above points out, their scenes could have just been cut and nothing would have been really different. There's also one scene where Rolf investigates Eddy's Brother's destroyed car, even though Rolf already knows it's the exact same car the Eds tried to escape in and there are really no clues that Rolf uncovers that provides any new information about where the Eds are heading.

** Just ''what'' exactly was the [[NoodleIncident scam]] that caused the widespread destruction in the cul-de-sac shown at the beginning of the film? There are some hints to give an idea, but its made vague enough that it's really up to interpretation. Pretending to die as a prank is not a funny prank at all. And Double D's anger at Eddy in that scene was his Rage Breaking Point that was built up from all those moments of Eddy's desire to trick and mess with people for laughs. Also, if Double D is not supposed to be unsympathetic, then this entry is invalid.

* UnintentionallyUnsympathetic: Unsympathetic might be a bit of a stretch, but while the audience is supposed to completely sympathize with Double D during the quicksand prank, he can come across as too cruel and insensitive to Eddy for some. Yes, the prank was rather tasteless to most, but Eddy didn't intend any harm and Double D almost abandoned his own friends over a prank that was substantially milder than other ones Eddy pulled.

Some Anvils Need To Be Dropped got cut, going to see if these examples fit An Aesop.

* SomeAnvilsNeedToBeDropped: The characters each learn an important lesson along the way and they’re well-executed despite being told with the subtlety of a jackhammer.
** Ed: Even if you may not know it, you’re much smarter than you or others believe yourself to be. All you have to do is put your mind to it.
** Double D: Standing up for yourself is important and if you don’t, you won’t be true to yourself.
** Eddy: If you do something really bad to your friend (in Eddy’s case, tricking Double D into thinking he and Ed drowned to death), you could lose them permanently and the hurt probably won’t go away.
** All of the Ed Boys: You don’t have to live up to any expectations or legacies for people to like you. Accept yourself for who you truly are.
** The kids: If revenge is all you think about, it will make you no better than the person who wronged you.
** No matter how many times a person has wronged you, maybe all they really need is a friend.
** Sometimes, your biological family is just plain awful and you’re better off without them, but that doesn’t mean you won’t have one. Ed’s parents don’t seem to care much about him and give Sarah everything and Edd’s parents barely pay attention to him or consult him. However, Eddy’s brother is supposedly much better than his parents, but it turns out he’s a cruel and absuive jackass who made Eddy the way that he was. In the end, Eddy admits to all his faults and begins to see that his friends are his real family.

** The movie also retroactively gave this to Eddy's parents, who were thought to be as neglectful as Ed's, given that it's reasonable they may have given him tough love so as to not end up like his brother. Eddy after all ''was'' scamming kids.
