* FandomRivalry: A minor one between fans of Civvie and Gmanlives, due to both being prominent reviewers of “boomer shooter” games with contrasting styles (with Gmanlives having more straightforward reviews versus Civvie’s comedic tone) and tastes (for instance, Gmanlives has frequently praised VideoGame/BrutalDoom and other mods by Sgt. Mark IV while Civvie has expressed disdain for the mod), as well as Civvie making a light jab at Gmanlives for praising Blood: Fresh Supply in its ObviousBeta state. That said, there is also a significant overlap between the two fanbases. The two also seem to be on opposite ends of the political spectrum (although both are still relatively centrist and an apples-to-apples comparison is pointless given that Gmanlives is Australian and not American), but to their credit neither makes their politics a core aspect of their videos.

* AluminumChristmasTrees: "Hellraiser - The Infernal Cartridge" begins with a lengthy preamble where Civvie explains that Color Dreams (the original form of Creator/WisdomTree, creators of VideoGame/BibleAdventures) somehow got their hands on both the license to Franchise/Hellraiser and an "improved" version of the VideoGame/Wolfenstein3D engine, and then somehow created a supercharged custom cartridge that would allow them to run said engine on the NES. Given that the entire pretext of the video is that the game Civvie is playing isn't real (being created for an April Fools joke), it's easy to think that he made the whole thing up as part of the joke. However, nearly everything he claims about the game's history is, in fact, true.

Acceptable Targets is now an index

* AcceptableTargets:
** Civvie simply has no love for Modern Military Shooters (Call of Duty, Battlefield, etc), cursing them as a plague on the gaming scene and taking every opportunity he can to compare how much better older retro shooters were in terms of level design and overall fun. This includes Halo, though he does admit the first game had an awesome shotgun.
*** Call of Duty has been doubled down on in recent years for a number of reasons. Mainly due to Activision turning Raven Software into an assistant developer for all modern COD titles, something Civvie considers a crime.
** While he's happy to clown on developers like Creator/JohnRomero or American [=McGee=] for their screwups, it's usually in good fun. Randy Pitchford, on the other hand, tends to be treated with genuine loathing.
** Nazis, for obvious reasons. He is always willing to give them shit whenever he encounters them.

** While most of the Duke Nukem Forever video is comedic gold, the Alien Hive level is not. Especially once Civvie reaches the Holsom twins who are captured, tortured and trussed up in grossly sexualised ways, about to die from alien embryos and begging Duke for help, and Duke, normally the savior of babes the universe over, replies with a needlessly cruel "Looks like you're...fucked." an error, sure, but i'm not sure how you'd call it a critical research failure; it's a rather small setpiece and easy to forget about

* CriticalResearchFailure: In his review of Videogame/HalfLifeOpposingForce, just before the chapter Friendly Fire he has trouble getting the beret shotgun soldier onto the elevator. What he doesn't realize is that said soldier goes to a position in a scripted event and the player must lead him straight through the door to the elevator, as the AI has trouble getting through that particular door if he isn't lined up (blame the game's problematic nav meshes). Not only does Civvie continue to struggle getting him through the door after moving him just an inch off-course, but when he simply gives up, "declares a mutiny", and kills the shotgun soldier, he does so in plain sight of the Engineer who's already programmed to rush into the elevator, killing him too. This bites him in the ass later when he misses out on another engineer door that leads to more supplies, as well as allies to help him in the office area. You'd think an expert like Civvie would know better.
