** The song "Oasis" from ''Who Killed Amanda Palmer''. The narrator is a teen who gets drunk at a party, raped, and harassed first for getting an abortion and then for her former best friend spreading rumors about her. Said narrator deals with her trauma by focusing on her letter to Oasis, the band. Sounds like fuel for angst? But then pair it up with a chipper G major melody, happy backup singers, and [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8C17yfGyJjM some amusing props in the music video]] and you can understand why the audience laughs. It gets even funnier when Amanda at one live performance tried to sing it in a minor key, but only managed through the first verse before she said "Fuck it!" and sang it as originally planned.

** "The Vegemite Song" is a comedic song about how Amanda loves Creator/NeilGaiman but doesn't understand his love for the "Death paste" Vegemite and jokes that she'll leave if he doesn't put it away. It becomes a little less funny in 2020 after Amanda announced that she and Neil are separating, for reasons undisclosed. (They have since reconciled.)

* HeartwarmingInHindsight: Amanda wrote a song called "New Zealand" for some fans that asked for an unofficial homage. Later, in 2020 she would stay in New Zealand with her son during the pandemic and is still there as of November. At a livestreamed concert, [[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5MMNno1XwyA&t=9680s Amanda sang a softer version of it]] with more solemnity and sweetness, as thanks to the country that hosted her.

Here's a list of YMMV tropes for Music/AmandaPalmer.

----

* SugarWiki/HeartwarmingMoments: The flash mob wedding she organised for Creator/NeilGaiman on his birthday, and, of course, their real wedding a few months later. You can read about the flash mob in her own words [[http://blog.amandapalmer.net/post/1597897908/still-life-with-wedding-party here.]]
** [[http://blog.amandapalmer.net/post/3448247232/christchurch-canceled-due-to-massive-earthquake Her blog post]] in the aftermath of the February 2011 Christchurch earthquake. Doubles as a SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome for the girl and arguably a TearJerker, too.

* SugarWiki/MomentOfAwesome: During the Music/EvelynEvelyn tour across Europe, the crew got stuck in a different country because of the Iceland volcano. Instead of using her crew, Amanda pulled two fans onto the stage to stay there throughout the show and hold the webcasting laptop. She also had the opening band {{Music/Bitter Ruin}} play the theme from ''Film/{{Clue}}'' on her keyboard, while she ran around the stage between the songs acting out the theatre parts by herself, "Creator/TimCurry style". Because the show was supposed to be played together with Jason Webley (who couldn't make it either), Jason joined in over Skype, with his face, accordion and ukulele playing on a laptop screen being held up next to Amanda ''throughout the entire gig''. Oh, and the entire thing was broadcast live over the internet, with Amanda constantly talking to her online fans and tweeting.
--> "The only element here that is not part of the actual Evelyn Evelyn show... is me drinking beer. * chugs* "
** "Fuck the Ashcloud" performance in Dublin.
* NightmareFuel:
** Her love for theatrics and doll/clown makeup and costumes brings her into this category a lot.
** Intention of "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfGULBvnc2E Slide]]" = mildly creepy; Effect of "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DfGULBvnc2E Slide]]" by the Dresden Dolls = ''really incredibly terrifying!!!''
** ..."THE ORANGE MAN'S GOT YOOOOOOOOOOU."
*** On the sheet music, she's got the final note listed as, "The saddest note in the world."
** "[[https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_xoniTn7ygA Lonesome Organist Rapes Page-Turner]]". And the fact that Amanda gets manic at various points in the song doesn't help.
** [[WordofGod Amanda Palmer]] has said that Half-Jack was about far more than one subject. One such subject could be interpreted as a split personality in her (who just happened to be an authoritative male figure) who was forcing her to suicide.
-->"It might destroy me\\
But I'd sacrifice my body\\
If it means I'll get the Jack part out \\
AH-OH! AH-OH!"
** "Mrs. O" is pure terror about Holocaust denial from a teacher. Coupled with the bright chords that Amanda uses, it creates a nightmarish effect rivaling Coin-Operated Boy.

*** Even funnier, is that she wrote it for [[Creator/NeilGaiman her husband]] and his love for Vegemite in question. He mentioned in an interview that the song made him, "very sad" and he gets PuppyDogEyes.
** During a concert, she begins to play the first few lines of Rebecca Black's ''Friday.'' The fans in question sense doom, and one even shouts out "Don't you dare." She then proceeds into a '''VERY''' NSFW [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=04fAhOej1m8 version of "Friday"]] that must be heard to believed.
