* AdaptationalDumbass: Bomb. In the games and Toons series, he was never portrayed as stupid or incompetent (at least, compared to the other birds) and was even TheSmartGuy at times. In this film, he is significantly dumber, and is reduced to comic relief many times.

[[spoiler:Terence tries to fire himself from the slingshot, realizing that his size and mass would cause major damage to the Piggies' castle, and he is strong enough to take on the Piggies in close combat. However, the stress on the slingshot causes it to break before it can fire him to the castle, stranding him and the other birds, and leaving the main cast on their own.]]

* GrumpyBear: Red, big time, is often very, very grumpy and possesses anger management issues. He mellows out over the course of the film.

* OriginStory: This is a prequel, showcasing how the infamous feud between the Angry Birds and Bad Piggies began.

** Once all is said and done, it looks like the birds gave the glory to Mighty Eagle and [[UngratefulBastard none of it to Red]]. When he looks past the statue made in the Mighty Eagle's honor, however, he sees that that the birds [[KarmicJackpot repaid his leadership by rebuilding his house (which was previously on the beach and got destroyed when the pigs' boat made landfall) in the middle of town]].

* BerserkButton: This is Angry Birds, after all, and stealing their eggs awards you their wrath, as usual. Red is the most ticked off in the film.

** At the end, it looks like the birds gave the glory to Mighty Eagle and pulled a huge UngratefulBastard on Red... Turns out, no.

* AdaptedOut: King Smooth Cheeks, the original king of the pigs and the main villain of the games and shorts, does not appear here.
