** Even without this inciting incident there are SEVERAL instances where a simple conversation would defuse the entire conflict of the movie. Through the entire movie Bruce ''refuses'' to tell Damien a single thing about the Court of Owls- giving Damien the growing impression that Bruce doesn't trust him- and even once Batman finds out Robin is consorting with Talon he STILL doesn't tell Damien that Talon is working for a secret order that wants them both dead.

* DangerouslyGenreSavvy: [[spoiler: Talon is this in spades. He is able to follow Batman and Damian without being spotted for a good while. He notices that the two don't get along and uses that to turn Damian against Batman. He realizes the blue blood secret society will never accept him, no matter what he does for them. And he guesses Samantha was just using him and plans to betray him in the end, so he betrays her first.]]

* AndShowItToYou: The Dollmaker gets his heart ripped out by Talon right after Damien threatens to do it with his batarang. Talon then shows the heart to Damion and says "Never doubt your instincts".

* BackToBackBadasses: Two examples both involving [[spoiler: the Talons invading Wayne Manor]]

* BittersweetEnding: [[spoiler: The Court of Owls is destroyed and Talon is beaten. But the experience really shakes Damian and makes him question where he truly belongs. He leaves Bruce to find his way in life, but Bruce makes it clear he does love him and states to Dick he'll likely return to him. The final shot of the movie is Damien taking Bruce's advice to go train with the monks that helped Bruce.]]

** There's Anton Schott aka Dollmaker, who is mostly based on Barton Mathis, another character nicknamed Dollmaker. By extension of Dollmaker's backstory, Winslow Schott (the Franchise/{{Superman}} villain Toyman and Anton's father) has elements of Wesley Mathis (Barton's father) as well.

* HeelRealization: [[spoiler: The hallucination makes Bruce sees a BadFuture in which Damian takes his mantle as Batman but kills with no regret. This makes him realize his harsh methods and lack of trust could indeed make Damian turn out this way. Leading to much character development in the final act.]]

** The suit that [[spoiler: Damian]] wears during Batman's hallucination is the same suit he wears as Batman in ''Batman # 666'' and subsequent stories by Grant Morrison about a nightmarish post-apocalyptic future. Indeed, Bruce's hallucination evokes the imagery of that comic-book story

* NearVillainVictory: Indeed Talon ''really'' comes close in the climax. [[spoiler: He raids Wayne Manor with a batch of Talons, wear down both Batman and Nightwing, invades the Batcave, incapacitates Nightwing and got in a lethal blow on Bruce in their fight. He was on the verge of finishing him off if Damian hadn't jumped in for the rescue.]]
* PoorCommunicationKills: A lot of the movies problem could've been avoided at the start if [[spoiler: Damian had bothered to tell Bruce someone has killed the Dollmaker instead of lashing out at him. Heck Bruce, being as observant as he is, could've figure it out easily himself that Damian wasn't the one after seeing there wasn't any blood on Damian's knife and the way Dollmaker was killed.]]

* PreAssKickingOneLiner: We get one from Batman when he dons the mecha suit to fight the Talons.

* SamusIsAGirl: [[spoiler: The Court Grandmaster sounds male, but is actually Samantha]]
* StarterVillain: The Dollmaker He's only in the first six minuets of the movie than gets his heart ripped out by Talon.
* SoftSpokenSadist: The Dollmaker, courtesy of Weird Al Yanchovic. He has the creepiest voice ever even if it sounds child like.
* SelfDisposingVillain: After Damian beats him and have him at knife point, [[spoiler: Talon takes his own life by forcefully thrusting it into his neck.]]

** Bruce is offered this by the Count of Owls since he one of the most influential people within the city. Bruce plays dumb and asks to think it over (using the distraction to put a tracker in the mask). But obviously wasn't going to consider their offer.

* WhatMeasureIsANonHuman: Batman has no problem blowing up the Talons and otherwise using lethal force after figuring out they aren't normal humans.

* WellIntentionedExtremist: The Dollmaker's sincerely believes he's helping the kids he kidnaps, tortures and mutilates. Talon, Samantha and the Court of Owls qualify as well.

What's more, she's in a relationship with the head Talon. We learn at the end that Bruce knew all along Samantha was part of the Count of Owls.]]
