* TheMeanBrit: Trevor can be a bit of a JerkAss now and then. Though it's pretty easy to forget that he's from England considering it is pretty much only mentioned directly in the defunct cast page, and referred to only when he says "oy" instead of "hey", and at one point when he's referred to as "Brit boy" by Jesse during spring break.

** Candi herself has pink hair while her rival Linda has dark blue hair.
** Trevor's dad has blue-purple hair, and the artist has said that she's unsure if Trevor's bangs are natural or not.

Hodge is also the graphic designer for Discovery Digital Networks Los Angeles, best known as the home of WebVideo/ThePhilipDefrancoShow and WebVideo/SourceFed, and also occasional illustrator for {{Website/Cracked}}.com.

* EvilTeacher: Candi's art teacher, Professor Fitzgibbons, who routinely gives her a lower-than-expected mark for turning out sub-par (by which he means [[TrueArtIsIncomprehensible easily understandable]]) artwork.
** He does get a nice bit of CharacterDevelopment as a teacher in [[http://www.candicomics.com/d/20100405.html an early 2010 strip]], in which he [[spoiler:finally gave Candi a good grade for her painting (which, as before, had a very obvious meaning), and then explained to her that her work is good, but she must become willing to try other approaches to art if she ever wants to grow as an artist]].

* ItsAllAboutMe: Trevor, who's pretty much of a spoiled rich kid. He's getting better though.

* ManipulativeBitch: Linda, who deliberately sets out to break up Alex and Candi, initially because she thinks Candi would be better off without him. However, she falls for him in the process and eventually dates him behind Candi's back. And she is utterly unrepentant. She doesn't even understand why her (former) roommates are pissed at her (they all knew what she was up to before Candi did).
** Later she convinces Katia that she's in an "open relationship" with Alex, after Katia walks in on her making out with his roommate Nathan. A move which later backfires on her in a big way...

* SelectiveObliviousness: Candi's ex, Alex, had to have it explained to him that his wanting to be friends with her while maintaining a relationship with her rival Linda was a bad idea. Even after having this spelled out, he thinks it'll work if Candi and Linda would just be reasonable.
** And now we have Candi, regarding Jon's feelings towards her.

* ShipTease: The artist in the past hasn't been above teasing the Candi/Jon shippers despite apparently saying this will never happen.

* YouGottaHaveBlueHair: Candi herself has pink hair while her rival Linda has dark blue hair.

* YouNeedToGetLaid: Candi starts getting this while stuck on an art project, [[spoiler: and it doesn't help that Linda's already stolen her boyfriend.]]

* EvilOldFolks: Alex's grandmother is a short-tempered, vindictive, ''mean'' little woman who hates Linda because she's "an American whore". She invites herself over to Alex's apartment and promptly insults Linda to her face (albeit in Spanish). When Linda storms out and Alex follows, Abuela goes through his roommates' private property looking for a way to bust things up and get Alex back with that nice pink-haired girl who'll smile like an idiot while Alex alley-cats around like a wife should.[[hottip:*:Like most of the comic's characters, Abuela is based on someone the author actually knows - the grandmother of the real-life inspiration for Alex.]]

* BizarroEpisode: Candi and the gang randomly go clubbing! Apparently they go clubbing all the time, they even introduce a new character there. But after they go home they never mention the club, or any interest to go dancing at all. It's like they just decided it never happened.

* EmbarrassingNickname: Chris is fully aware that Candi's name is Candi, which is why he always calls her by the names of [[IncrediblyLamePun brand name candies.]]
