* BreakingOldTrends: The "Prince of Darkness" Akito is playable as early as Stage 4 and while he leaves in Stage 8, he returns in Stage 15 and remains playable the entire game except for route splits. This is a significant change compared to W and MX where he does not join permanently until almost the end, giving him LateCharacterSyndrome. R has his "Prince of Darkness" version playable at the start temporarily before using his original design again. ** Mazinger Z uses a slightly different moveset compared to previous depictions in the Super Robot Wars games. It swaps its famous RocketPunch for the similar Iron Cutter, making it one of the very few times Mazinger Z appears but its Rocket Punch does not. The Koshiryoku Beam is only used as part of another attack rather than being its own standalone attack. After being absent in many games due to the Shin version of Mazinger Z using a different Scrander, the Scrander Cutter and Southern Cross Knives make a return. .

* AbusiveWorkplace:
** Deliberately averted with VTX, as demonstrated by the VTX values quoted by its employees. Among other things, VTX offers generous terms for overtime and night pay, and is very flexible in regards to what jobs it takes. Contractors like the crew of the Bebop are also offered performance bonuses. A problematic employee who'd harassed Aimes was shown the door once she made a report and the HR department completed its investigation.
** Zigzagged with the Company/ UND. Its members like Rudi Pixyzalto offer various characters employment, promising their talents would be recognised. Even the UND grunts will occasionally comment in combat that victory in battle will directly lead to higher status and success within the company. However, the UND also has a very much WeHaveReserves mentality, and any employees unable to live up to their contract will either find themselves dropped or subjected to harsh punishment. This is sometimes played for humour, as defeated UND grunts may scream in terror at the thought of a blemish on their record rather than the fact their mech is exploding around them.

** One of the minor recurring jokes of the series is how small the Takeo General Company is when compared to Senpuuji Concern or even the VTX Union, to either Watta's annoyance or frustration, especially during the "Today is Bonus Day!" DLC, where he became desperate to gather collect all the bounties from a huge sum group of bonus for criminals all on his subordinates own so that he could afford to give the rest of the company workers bonuses because the other companies could afford to give bigger bonuses for theirs. Watta got gets over it or goes along with the joke outside the DLC.

* TheFuture: Given the installments, pretty much a given. Though it's actually given a solid date here, specifically, it's noted that TokyoTower (which was built in 1984) was built 700 years ago, thus pinning the game some time in the late 2600s.
