* JungleJapes: Jam Jungle, for the most part, takes place and a thick jungle area. One of the levels here is instead a TempleOfDoom.

''Kirby: Squeak Squad'' (''Hoshi no Kirby: Sanjō! Dorocche Dan'', or "Arrive! Dorocche Gang" in Japanese, and ''Kirby: Mouse Attack'' in European languages) is the second ''Franchise/{{Kirby}}'' game for the UsefulNotes/NintendoDS, released in 2006.

* FreezeFrameBonus: Pausing the game right after the thief steals Kirby's cake in the intro reveals that the thief itself is actually a simple Waddle Dee, not a member of the Squeaks.

* MistakenForThief: When Kirby's strawberry shortcake gets stolen, he thinks Dedede did it. Then, when the Squeak Squad (a group of thieving mice) show up, he thinks they did it. It's unknown if they did, but Dedede is innocent.

* SpellMyNameWithAnS: The "Squeeks" debuted in "Squeak" Squad.

Gameplay remains similar to previous installments (namely ''[[VideoGame/KirbyAndTheAmazingMirror Amazing Mirror]]'', minus the {{Metroidvania}} gameplay), with the addition of the touch screen (aka Kirby's [[StomachOfHolding stomach]]) acting as the inventory for the titular pink puffball to store items in. In addition, new Copy Abilities are introduced. Those being [[TunnelKing Animal]], [[BubbleGun Bubble]], [[ExtraOreDinary Metal]], [[OurGhostsAreDifferent Ghost]][[note]] only unlockable if you managed to get all parts of the mysterious Ghost Medal, which summons a midboss so you can inhale it for the ability[[/note]] and [[spoiler:Triple Star]]. Some Copy Abilities also interact with the environment (for example, Fire burns down tall grass), and some abilities (namely Sword or Bomb) can be [[ElementalWeapon combined with various elements]] (for example, Fire Sword and Ice Bomb).

* ShapeShifterSwanSong: [[spoiler:Upon landing the final attack on Dark Nebula, he shifts between each of his elemental forms during the freeze-frame before [[TheWormThatWalks falling apart into countless dark purple stars that fall offscreen]] before his eye finally explodes. Cue fade to white.]]

* ShesAManInJapan: Spinni, while not explicitly referred to by gender in-game, is called female in the Japanese instruction manual. However, the English release of ''VideoGame/KirbyMassAttack'' later referred to Spinni as male.

* MalevolentMice: The Squeak Squad, who make off with Kirby's beloved strawberry shortcake and end up starting the main conflict in the process.

* BubblyClouds: Cushy Cloud is similar to the TropeNamer, featuring solid clouds as platforms.

** The Ghost ability can only be unlocked by assembling the Ghost Medalion and allows Kirby to control any {{Mook}} in the game. However, the enemies you can possess are all horribly outclassed in terms of mobility, power and durability even by regular Kirby. Even worse, Ghost Kirby is worthless against bosses and can't even go down stairs.

* BossBonanza: World 5-3 has you fight Bonkers, Gao Gao, Big Metalun, and finally Storo (if you don't get the large treasure chest, you fight Mr. Frosty in Storo's place). Perhaps of more significance, though, is World 6-5 that has you fight every member of the Squeaks (Spinni, Storo, and Doc, in order) other than the leader Daroach, who is fought immediately after the previous level as a boss.

* BubbleGun: The new Bubble ability lets Kirby shoot bubbles. Enemies defeated will turn into bubble containing either an ability (if said enemy provides it) or a star (if said enemy doesn't).

** Both Sword and Bomb [[ElementalWeapon can be combined with either Fire, Ice or Spark]] (except Fire Bomb).
** When using Wheel or Tornado, they can also be combined with the basic three elements by treading upon an elemental surface. For example, if you use Wheel on a lava patch, the wheel becomes fiery.

** Magic: A miniature Kirby opens up a hidden door in the top hat peeks outside and bounces once on the edge of the hat and immediately back in. The actual Kirby also reacts to the mini Kirby above.

* IWasToldThereWouldBeCake: Kirby thinks there is cake somewhere in all the treasure chests he races the squeaks for, and in Dedede's castle, and on Meta Knight's repaired ship...

* MagiciansAreWizards: The Magic ability returns from ''Amazing Mirror'' with tweaks: Kirby can throw out various things out of his hat, like flying doves, cutting cards or smashing clown heads. With the Magic Scroll, Kirby can do the original Magic's function: a RandomEffectSpell that gives Kirby either full health, an extra life, a random ability or big fireworks explosions that covers the screen and damages all enemies.

* MissionPackSequel: The core gameplay is virtually identical to its predecessor ''Kirby: Nightmare in Dreamland'' aside from the new touch screen mechanics.

* PaletteSwap: Returning from ''Amazing Mirror'' are spray paints, which you can use to customize Kirby's skin color.

* RuleOfThree: Collect 3 Star Bubbles and you can combine them into a huge Star Bubble (equivalent of inhaling 3 enemies at once and spitting them). Collect 3 mini Kirby bubbles and combine them for a 1Up.

* SpeedSmartsAndStrength: Besidees Daroach of the Squeaks, there's Spinni, the fast and agile {{Ninja}}, Storo, the huge DumbMuscle, and Doc, the Squeaks' brainy GadgeteerGenius.

* WhooshInFrontOfTheCamera: In the intro cutscene, Kirby is about to eat his strawberry shortcake. Then something wooshes across, and the cake's gone, disappointing Kirby.

* TunnelKing: A new Copy Ability named "Animal" allows Kirby to dig through patches of dirt and other such things. The Copy Scroll for said ability allows it to perform a [[ThisIsADrill drill attack]].

** Landing the final hit on a boss causes the background to turn red, freeze-frame style, before the boss does its death animation.

* WhatHappenedToTheMouse: Not the Squeaks themselves, despite being mice, but [[spoiler:Kirby's Strawberry Shortcake. We never find out where it actually is. Though since a FreezeFrameBonus of the intro shows that it was a [[{{Mooks}} Waddle Dee]] who took it, then either said Waddle Dee [[KarmaHoudini enjoyed a nice stolen shortcake and didn't get involved with the game after the theft]], or said Waddle Dee was one of the ''many'' Waddle Dees faced and killed/eaten throughout the game and Kirby unknowingly avenged his shortcake.]]
