* StylisticSuck: Jingwei, a Chinese general, is depicted in General Chase's Anchorage simulation as [[InterchangableAsianCultures committing sepuku when talked down]] (although he ''did'' really have his sword styled as a katana) and speaking Chinese in a fake and almost incomprehensible accent. It's unclear if it was Bethesda doing a poor job on his voicing, or if Chase didn't bother to make the simulation accurate at all (considering it's implied that the whole thing might be a fabricated retelling of Operation Anchorage.)

* FastKillingRadiation: The radiation mechanic guarantees your death if you accumulate more than 400 rads. Many areas of the game subject you to low amounts like 1 or 2 rads per second, sometimes 7 to 15 in "dangerous" areas. Nothing you can't survive if you stock up on Rad-X and Rad-Away to buff up your resistance and remove the radiation every now and then. However, outside the entrance to Vault 87 is the single-most irradiated area of the Capital Wastelands. The rads per second start to skyrocket the closer you get to the entrance. The entrance itself actually counts as a fast travel location once properly discovered. Any Lone Wander who is foolhardy enough to fast travel to this location, even well prepared with maximum radiation resistance, will be dead within a ''second'' if they're not fast enough to pause the game and start popping rad away and booking it out of there.

** One translation that's more ''weird'' (or even flat out offensive) than just plain bad is how Fallout 3 translated "slaver" in French, by calling them "négriers", an archaic word for those who traded African slaves in the infamous Atlantic triangular trade, and is etymologically related to the French version of the n-word, and which only really survives as a term for a harsh oppressive taskmaster rather than how most modern French speakers would call slavers ("esclavagiste").

* ArtisticLicenseNuclearPhysics:
** Mini-Nukes have way too small of a yield for nuclear weapons. For comparison, the smallest nuke developed (the [[https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/W54 W54]]) had a yield of 10 kilotons of TNT equivalent.
** Mini-Nukes and atomic-powered cars produce a mushroom cloud when exploding. Mushroom clouds are not inherent to nuclear explosions and are actually just a byproduct of any really big explosion.
** The quest "The Power of the Atom" plays fast and loose with how nuclear bombs work.
*** For starters, there is no way a nuclear bomb would still be operational after 200 years, especially if it's been at the bottom of a crater exposed to the elements. While the fissile material would likely still be usable, the conventional explosives and electronics would have long since decayed into uselessness. If it is an hydrogen bomb, the tritium (hydrogen-3, a radioactive isotope of hydrogen, hence "hydrogen bomb") that boosts the fission explosion would also have long since decayed (tritium has a half-life of 10 years, meaning about half of the tritium stops being tritium after 10 years). The game [[HandWave handwaves]] this by having a NPC give you a "fusion pulse generator" to restore the bomb to functionality.
*** Disarming the bomb is presented as a difficult task (25 explosive skill, not necessarily something every player has by this stage of the game) while making it explode is a simple matter of plugging in a "fusion pulse generator" (as mentioned above). In reality ''disarming'' a nuclear bomb is pretty simple. For a nuclear bomb to work you need ''very'' precise electronically-controlled conventional explosions all working to compress a fissile core. If these explosions are out of sync the conventional explosives will just demolish the bomb. Disarming one would simply be a case of ripping out a bunch of wires (some modern nuclear bombs are designed to go off if you try to tamper with them). Restoring it to functionality would similarly require making sure the electronics and conventional explosives all work ''juuuuust'' right (there's a reason the Manhattan Project was such a difficult endeavor).
** Vault 87's entrance is flesh-meltingly radioactive, capping at 4000 rads/second (for comparison you drop dead at 1000 rads) because it suffered a direct hit from a nuclear weapon 200 years ago. In reality anything ''that'' radioactive wouldn't stay radioactive for 200 years. That's what radioactivity ''means''. As a rule of thumb, the more radioactive an isotope is, the shorter its half-life will be (the amount of time it takes to lose half of its radioactivity).
