* IKnewIt: When the announcements at the beginning of "Past Time" said the next episode would be a sequel to a previous one, many predicted it would be a sequel to "The September Monologues."

* ThrowItIn: The big bad for the podcast's 2nd year, [=StrexCorp=] Synernists Inc, was first written as [=StrexCorp=] Synergists Inc. However, Cecil Baldwin mis-pronounced the second word as "synernists" the first time he recorded it. The writers immediately decided that sounded much better than the original version, and it's been "synernists" ever since.

literally none of this is how examples work

* Hoist By His Own 'Persand: In the 1st season book collection, one of the authors tells how he felt it to be artistically absolutely indisposable that there was a "&" and no ordinary "and" in 11th episode's title "Wheat & Wheat By-Products". Unfortunately, "&" is a special character and the podcast software was nonplussed, or should that be, nonampersanded.

Jossed is a YMMV Definition Only Page now. Deleting examples, fan theories that are in objective pages - they need to go on YMMV pages - and moving these about a specific fan work to Outdated By Canon

* Jossed: One popular fanon for Cecil was having his last name be Baldwin, just like his voice actor. In "Cassette" however, it was revealed that his full name is Cecil Gershwin Palmer.
** RealLifeWritesThePlot: According to an interview with Cecil Baldwin the creators gave Night Vale!Cecil a different last name because when "Cecil Baldwin" was Googled only Welcome to Night Vale related fanart or posts showed up.
** The popular fanon of Cecil wearing a well put together waistcoat becomes more and more out of place as we learn more about his fashion sense.

Internet Backdraft is now Flame Bait and being dewicked per TRS.

* TheOtherDarrin: Carlos was voiced by series co-creator Jeffrey Cranor for his appearances in "The Phone Call" and the first performance of "Condos". Commonplace Books announced in December 2013 that Carlos' subsequent appearances would be voiced by Dylan Marron, as a straight white actor playing a queer Latino character had some UnfortunateImplications, especially given the InternetBackdraft described on the [=YMMV=] page. Marron debuted in the recorded performance of "Condos", and the voice change was explained with Carlos having gotten his vocal cords replaced during a routine checkup. Otherwise, you know, throat spiders.

* OneOfUs: Cecil Baldwin linked to the Wiki/TVTropes entry for the show on his Facebook, calling attention to the "Adorkable" description in particular. He often posts fanart of his character by various artists on Tumblr, and seems both knowledgeable about--and delighted by--the fan-culture surrounding the show, describing himself as a "Night Vale Geek" in an interview.
** According to the aforementioned Facebook, he's also apparently a Whovian!
** AND an Science Theater 3000}} MSTie!

* WordOfSaintPaul: After his first appearance, LOTS of people in fandom took it as fact that Earl Harlan either wanted or had previously been in a romantic relationship with Cecil. Earl's voice actor WilWheaton later invoked this trope in response to Tumblr-rage over his casting, stating that he'd been told during prep that Cecil and Earl are JustFriends and that Earl's sexuality is currently unconfirmed.

* HeyItsThatVoice:
** The Faceless Old Woman is voiced by Creator/MaraWilson.
*** This might double as an ActorAllusion to her role in the Website/ThatGuyWithTheGlasses 'verse, as she was portrayed as an EldritchAbomination there too.
** Intern Dana is voiced by Jasika Nicole - better known as Astrid Farnsworth in Series/Fringe.
** Hiram [=McDaniels=] (who is literally a five-headed dragon) is voiced by Jackson Publick of WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers fame. One of his heads even sounds suspiciously like The Monarch.
** In the L.A. Podcast Festival episodes, James Urbaniak, also of WesternAnimation/TheVentureBrothers fame, fills in with redone ads for older episodes, voicing them as intern Leland and his identical relative who end up getting the Redshirt treatment. He returns in episode 67 to voice , who is hosting a clip show.
** Fey in Episode 42 is played by Molly Quinn - Alexis from Series/Castle.
*** Made into a brief CastingGag in the Night Vale / ThrillingAdventureHour crossover, where Quinn does the voice of recurring TAH character Pemily Stalwark. A bit into the second act, she is [[spoiler:erased from existence when her past is altered and she fades away. When her timeline is restored and she returns, she remembers "so many random numbers" and sings a few lines from Katy Perry's song "Roar", which Fey hollered during one of her broadcasts.]]
** Episode 54's intro was definitely read by Joseph Fink, creator of Welcome to Night Vale. Finally. After all this time.
