* A minor example. Early trailers for ''Drake's Deception'' showed a different, deeper sound for the AK-47, which didn't make it into the finished product.

* [[''VideoGame/DantesInferno'' Dante]] is both Lazarevic and Cutter.

* ShoutOut: As Nate wanders through the desert in ''Uncharted 3'', the voice-over recites an unattributed excerpt from T.S. Eliot's "The Waste Land."

** [[DragonAge Alistair]] is Harry Flynn.

** [[{{Haven}} Audrey Parker]] is Elena.

* WhatCouldHaveBeen: [[EnsembleDarkhorse Charlie Cutter]] was supposed to be in the entire game of Uncharted 3. His actor unfortunately had [[Film/TheHobbit other commitments]], and so was written out early.

* DyeingForYourArt: NolanNorth mentioned in a recent interview that during parts of the motion capture for ''Drake's Deception'', he was suffering from broken ribs. While clearly not done intentionally, it meant the pain and anguish on Nate's face is actually ''real''.

* StarMakingRole: Unless you were big on 90's GeneralHospital then you know NolanNorth first as Nathan Drake and second as every character he's voiced that's similar to Nathan Drake.

** Chloe is voiced by ClaudiaBlack, known for playing Aeryn in ''Series/{{Farscape}}'', Vala in ''Series/StargateSG1'' and Morrigan in ''VideoGame/DragonAgeOrigins''.

* ShoutOut:
** The games are obviously a tribute to the ''Franchise/IndianaJones'' series. Ironically, Creator/HarrisonFord is [[http://kotaku.com/5851203/watch-harrison-ford-play-uncharted-for-almost-seven-minutes/gallery/?tag=harrisonford the official spokesperson for Uncharted 3 in Japan.]]
** A small nod to Naughty Dog's previous series ''JakAndDaxter'' in the form of Nate and Elena's "Ottsel" (ie. Daxter's species) brand wetsuits at the beginning of the game.
** Also, check out the back of the Gold (and Silver) Ingot treasures. There's a small paw print on them-- Naughty Dog's logo.
** Not to mention the Strange Relic treasure that can be found in the game; a Precursor Orb.
** Plus Nate's leather shoulder-holster-harness-thing has NDI written on the back of it, as does Harry Flynn's stylish T-shirt in his introductory cutscene.
*** The grenades are also called "Mk-NDI." Naughty Dog Incorporated.
** Some of the crates in the first game look like the regular crates from CrashBandicoot.
** Don't forget the sequence in ''Among Thieves''. Sully and Nate even use the name of the movie, for god's sake.
** [[Franchise/IndianaJones I HATE spikes!]] During a descending ceiling, no less!
** At the end of the Borneo level, when Sully and Nate have to jump off a cliff to escape, Sully tells him: "After you, [[ButchCassidyAndTheSundanceKid Butch]]." They both jump off the cliff into the water below, mirroring a famous scene from that movie. Nate even says, "Oh shiiiiiit!"
** The chapter in which Nate and Tenzin find Schaeffer's expedition is called "Heart of Ice". Given that the expedition ended with [[spoiler: the men going mad with power and having to be executed by Schaeffer]], it's pretty clear that this is a reference to Joseph Conrad's ''Literature/HeartOfDarkness''.
** The multiplayer mode in the second game includes characters from ''VideoGame/{{InFamous}}'', ''VideoGame/{{Killzone}}'' and ''VideoGame/{{Resistance}}''. The Helghast soldier also returns for the third game.
** The trailer for ''Drake's Deception'' shows Nate doing a [[Film/TheLivingDaylights Living Daylights]]. If you haven't seen that movie, that means Nate is is fighting bad guys while hanging hanging out the back of a cargo plane ''in mid-flight''.
** The trailer for ''Drake's Deception'' also shows Nate riding a horse through a tight canyon, looking very much like the end to ''Film/TheLastCrusade''.
** There's a medal in ''Drake's Deception's'' multiplayer called [[SnakesOnAPlane Drakes On A Plane]].
** In ''Deception'', an upset Sully growls "What is this black ops bullshit?" after [[spoiler:Team Drake realizes that Charlie Cutter has been hit with some manner of mind-control dart.]] In ''VideoGame/CallOfDutyBlackOps'', the big plot twist is that [[spoiler:the main character, Alex Mason, has been brainwashed for most of the game.]]
** Also in ''Deception'', as Nate's briefing his team [[spoiler: Cutter]] constantly interjects, explaining a JamesBond reference and when T.E. Lawrence is brought up, responds with "[[LawrenceOfArabia Great film.]]"
