* ActorAllusion: Rick The Adventure Core in VideoGame/{{Portal 2}} is also voiced by Nolan North, and seems to be an AffectionateParody of Nathan Drake.
** In "The Chateau" chapter of ''Drake's Deception'' Sully tells Nate that the building "doesn't look old enough to be a Crusader castle. Looks more like Renaissance to me." At the game's time of release in 2011, who were [[Franchise/AssassinsCreed Desmond Miles]] two known ancestors?
* DevelopmentGag: The shirt young Nathan wears in ''Drake's Deception'' is the same one he wore in the original announcement trailer for the first Uncharted, before it was changed. He also wears this shirt in ''Eye of Indra''. ''Thief's End'' implies it's the faded hand-me down of his older brother, Sam.
* DoingItForTheArt: The team at Naughty Dog could be called insane for the amount of work they put into these games. From doing motion capture and dialogue recording ''at the same time'' to squeezing every last bit of power out of the [=PS3=]'s Cell Processor, the effort they go through to produce this amazing experience goes far, far beyond what is required to make these games a success. They don't just go the extra mile, they pave the road for everybody else.
** ''Uncharted 4'' raises the bar for what an interactive video game can potentially be. Look at ''Anime/FinalFantasyTheSpiritsWithin'', a CGI movie from 2001. Now imagine that level of graphical fidelity in a game that you have full control over. That is the level of quality that ''Uncharted 4'' has hit. From the detail in Nate's hair to the rainfall in chapter 13 to the look of explosions, everything about ''Uncharted 4'' goes well above and beyond what a video game needs to be and into a realm where it stands as a challenge to every other developer on the [=PlayStation=] 4.
* DyeingForYourArt: Creator/NolanNorth mentioned in an interview that during parts of the motion capture for ''Drake's Deception'', he was suffering from broken ribs. While clearly not done intentionally, it meant the pain and anguish on Nate's face is actually ''real''.
* FakeNationality: Caucasian American Creator/LauraBailey plays black South African Nadine Ross in ''Uncharted 4''.
* {{Jossed}}: This seems to have happened to David O. Russell's concept for the film (before he quit), in which Drake's family apparently played a large part. As of ''Drake's Deception'', we now know that [[spoiler: Nate was raised in an orphanage, and Sully's effectively been Nate's substitute father since he was a teenager.]]
* TheOtherDarrin: Nate's brother was [[https://twitter.com/ToddStashwick/status/541624189283614720 voiced by Todd Stashwick in the first ''Uncharted 4'' trailer]] and replaced by Troy Baker by the demo.
* PlayingAgainstType: Robin Atkin Downes' role as Tenzin in the second game. While all his other roles in the series are villainous characters, Tenzin is an ally of Nate's who becomes FireForgedFriends with him over the course of the game. Additionally, he only provides Tenzin's motion capture while another actor provides the voice, as opposed to the other three main games in the series where he does both the voice and motion capture.
* RelationshipVoiceActor: Dante and Drake and [[WesternAnimation/YoungJustice Kid Flash and Superboy]].
** [[VideoGame/TalesFromTheBorderlands Rhys and Fiona]] are on another treasure hunt in ''Uncharted 4''. They seem to be on different sides this time, though.
* StarMakingRole: Unless you were big on 90s ''Series/GeneralHospital'' then you know Creator/NolanNorth first as Nathan Drake and second as every character he's voiced that's similar to Nathan Drake.
* ThrowItIn: Many of Drake's one-liners were improvised, including the classic "I will kick you to sleep!"
** The line "Aw, kitty got wet!" was thought of by Nolan North (Nathan's voice actor)'s son while playing Wii tennis, which leads to it being [[ThisIsForEmphasisBitch one-upped]] with this [[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=P-g1qSjtcnM#t=0m22s random line during multiplayer.]] Referenced in ''Uncharted 3''. "Aw, what's the matter? Kitty don't like getting wet?"
** During a recording session for ''Uncharted 3'', Nolan North watched a scene of Sully crossing a beam ''very'' wobbly, and immediately shouted "What are you, drunk?!" To which Sully replied, "Maybe..."
* YouLookFamiliar: Graham [=McTavish=] previously voiced Lazarevic, the BigBad of ''Among Thieves'', [[spoiler:which helps to mask the fact that he's a good guy as Cutter]].
* WhatCouldHaveBeen:
** [[EnsembleDarkhorse Charlie Cutter]] was supposed to be in the entire game of Uncharted 3. His actor unfortunately had [[Film/TheHobbit other commitments]], and so was written out early.
** Elena's actor Emily Rose didn't even intentionally audition for the part; she was accompanying a friend. She got the part because of her chemistry with Nolan North.
** A minor example. Early trailers for ''Drake's Deception'' showed a different, deeper sound for the AK-47, which didn't make it into the finished product.
** Sam was originally planned to be an antagonist. Graham [=McTavish=] and Alan Tudyk filmed scenes for Uncharted 4 (with [=McTavish=] reprising Charlie Cutter) which were cut when writer Amy Hennig left the project. Likewise [[spoiler:Nate was originally going to have a son in the Epilogue and the English archaeologist whose mansion Sam and Nate break into as kids was going to be male, until they changed both to female characters]].
* WorkingTitle: The original working [[OddlyNamedSequel2ElectricBoogaloo subtitle]] for ''Uncharted 2'' was ''[[http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BOiffy8YHmM Something Mysterious and Cool]]''.
