While I don't exactly like sticker star, this Trope is meant for FAN nicknames, not hatedom nicknames.

* FanNickname: It's not uncommon for fans to call the game derogatory terms like "''Sticker Star 2.0''", "''Sticker Star HD''", "the second coming of ''Sticker Star''" and anything similar, since the game is following on the same formula. Likewise, ''Color Trash'' or ''Colorless Trash'' are also common nicknames for the game by the more aggressive bunch, mainly because of the game's highly controversial nature as a successor to ''Sticker Star'', already a highly polarizing game on its own.

* CowboyBebopAtHisComputer: When Nintendo made the game available to pre-load in North America, it was discovered they accidentally made the ''entire game'' available to download. This caused Nintendo to remove the pre-load option the next day.

Not An Example. Executive Meddling is when executives interfere with the director's desires.

* ExecutiveMeddling: If the [=USGamer=] interview is anything to go by, the character restrictions from ''Sticker Star'' are still in place for ''Color Splash''.

development hell doesn't mean "any longer than average production time", nor does "starting working" on something means all 4 years were spent on active development. ever heard of pre-production?

* DevelopmentHell: This game started development right after ''VideoGame/PaperMarioStickerStar'' in 2012. They were developing on the games for ''four years''.

A bit too pre-emptive to say, as the game hasn't been released yet. We also don't know if they are planning on making a Paper Mario game after this.

* FranchiseKiller: Despite not being released yet as of this writing, the game is already shaping up to be one for the ''VideoGame/PaperMario'' series.

Misblamed is not Trivia, so it doesn't go here.

* {{Jossed}}: A joke seen in the E3 2016 demo where a Toad comments on possibly being involved in a scandal called [[{{Scandalgate}} "Shufflegate"]] involving five other Toads called the "Five Fun Guys" lead to some people thinking this was a reference to the infamous "Gamergate" scandal that erupted in the gaming world in late 2014. [[http://kotaku.com/after-outcry-nintendo-says-paper-mario-color-splash-d-1782492966 Nintendo of America actually responded to the accusations]] by clarifying it was really a reference to the Watergate scandal of the 1970s, and the five Toads in question are a reference to ''VideoGame/MarioParty 8''.
* MisBlamed: Hoo boy, where do we begin?
** Creator/ShigeruMiyamoto is blamed for this game, even going as far as to saying that ''he should be fired for it''. While in reality, like most Mario spinoffs, Miyamoto is a supervisor at best and has no real input on what goes into ''Color Splash''.
** Risa Tabata also got a fair bit of scorn, getting the same treatment as Miyamoto above. This is mainly thanks to the infamous interview with GameXplain, where most answers were either really vague such as "I don’t know if I want to say a proper story–but we have a story" or saying that since there's VideoGame/MarioAndLuigi, there's "no need for RPG elements", which caused a massive InternetBackdraft. But in all honestly, she is is an assistant producer and not the lead developer, and thus she doesn't deserve some of the hatred she got beyond that interview.
** The game itself started development very shortly after the release of ''Sticker Star'', so by the time fans began savaging the revamped gameplay style, Intelligent Systems had put too much work into ''Color Splash'' to scrap it and start over. Of course, some would even wonder if they thought about looking at the reception that ''Sticker Star'' got before developing it further.

Many others, as well as I, find it really hard to believe they couldn't address any issues that got carried over from Sticker Star. Especially as a Post Play from Super Paper Mario is what caused this mess to begin with, and they were working on the game for 4 years.

Info from US Gamer interview. Might as well put it here. Also, in light of what happened to the YMMV page, I swear on my honor this isn't some attempt to defame the game- I can't change what Risa Tabata implied. If it were, there'd be certain other trivia tropes there.
