** Goku's Ultra Instinct transformation is often referred to with one of two different names: the "Limit Breaker" form or "Super Saiyan Silver". Its mastered stated however, quickly gained the name "Goku Blanco" (Goku White) due to the MemeticMutation of Gohan Blanco.

** Some fans theorised that Universe 6 would be the universe from ''Anime/DragonBallGT''. They were all brand new characters instead, and it became evident in the Future Trunks arc that alternate timelines and ultimate universes were seperate concepts altogether. (Of course, this theory never really made sense to begin with, given how Universe 6's earth was explicitly said to be destroyed.)
** The Future Trunks arc also jossed the theory that the [[NonSerialMovie pre-BoG movies]] and ''Anime/DragonBallGT'' were from different timelines - there were only five when the arc started, and all of them were created in ''Anime/DragonBallZ''.

She was voiced by Cristina Camargo in the original ''Z'', [[RoleReprisal who returned]] for ''[[Anime/DragonBallZBattleOfGods Battle of Gods]]'' and ''[[Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF Resurrection 'F']]''. However, in ''Super'', she is voiced by her ''Anime/DragonBallZBioBroly'' and ''Kai: The Final Chapters'' actress, Mónica Villaseñor.

This practice even extended to keeping other old imperfections, like French mispronunciations ("Zsinő" for Ginyu) and dubbing simplifications (Gotenks, a fusion, having a single voice). Aside from the enforced changes, the translator also renamed multiple new characters and previously unnamed techniques to keep the pun in their names. The most controversial is "Hagymágyú" for Galick Gun, a {{Portmanteau}} of onion and cannon ("Oniannon").

** According to an interview with Toriyama and Toyotaro in the fourth volume of the ''Super'' manga, Vegito wasn't supposed to appear at the climax of the Future Trunks saga, since to Toriyama, it was very improbable Vegeta would fuse again after the Majin Buu Saga. Toyotaro's suggestions, however, allowed him to appear in order to make the conflict more meaningful. Furthermore, Fused Zamasu was supposed to be much weaker than he was presented in the anime, where two Super Saiyan Blues would be able to defeat him.
** Toppo's role at the beginning of the Universe Survival arc was initially planned for Jiren, given that he appears in the preview trailer of that arc rather than Toppo and that his name was accidentally left unchanged by ''Shounen Jump'' when they released summary for episode 82. An interview expanded on this stating Jiren was meant to have Toppo's personality, but this was rejected by Toriyama.
** According to Toyotaro in an interview, he originally made the god of destruction Belmod and his assistant Marcarita act [[OfficeRomance like they were lovers]], but Toriyama disliked the idea since angels are meant to be more professional than that. Marcarita also referred to the Grand Priest as "papa", but it was changed for the more formal "father" in the final version.

** A magazine stated that the fighter from Universe 11 fighting against Goku in the Exhibition Matches was Jiren. It was actually Toppo, although early scans ''do'' indicate it was supposed to be Jiren.
** A magazine stated Gamisaras from Universe 4 was the twin brother of Damon, and was shown to be a PaletteSwap of his. He was shown to be an invisible chameleon-like fighter with no similarities with Damon at all.

* RefittedForTheSequel: Could be unintentional, but the original idea for ''Anime/DragonBallGT'' was to be an interquel to ''Dragon Ball Z'', set between the final battle of the Majin Buu arc and the series' DistanFinale, before that one turned into a full-on SequelSeries instead. At the very least, the basic idea survived into this installment.

** [=Geekdom101=] is a well-known member of the English-speaking community. Not only is he in touch with most of the well-known members of the community like Ajay and Creator/MasakoX, he is also known for interviewing the members of the English voice cast, being friends with Creator/ChrisAyres, and doing in-depth articles about the franchise in general beyond ''Super''. Like with everyone, he is quite critical of the series, expecially the manga.

** Attila Bartucz, voice of Gregory since the ''Z'' days, is directing the Hungarian dub.

Péter Beregi returns as King Kai (replacing his ''GT'' replacement, Gábor Forgács). Confusingly, Goten's VA, Judit Koltai replaced Péter Szokol as Gotenks, even though Szokol reprised ''his'' main role of Trunks.

Most notably, Péter Beregi as King Kai, who quit the role at the tail-end of ''DBZ'' in 1999; István Wohlmuth as Tien, who basically retired from voice acting around 2007; and Judit Koltai as Goten, who rarely gets dubbing roles and can still do the voice.

** Vegeta's form that is beyond Super Saiyan Blue (sometimes actually called "Beyond Super Saiyan Blue") and gives him darker blue hair is still called "Super Saiyan Royal Blue" by many fans, even after its official name of "Super Saiyan God Super Saiyan Evolution" was confirmed. Many people prefer the nickname because 1) it's a better fit for the Prince of All Saiyans and 2) "[[Film/DragonballEvolution Evolution]]" is not exactly a beloved term in the fandom.

* TalkingToHimself: In general, Goku and Goku Black share the same voice actor/actress in all the dubs, and Vegeta and Copy Vegeta too ([[AvertedTrope Except]] in the Japanese, German, and [[CastingGag Funimation English]] dubs).

* AbilityOverAppearance: Creator/JamesMarsters as Zamasu was initially viewed by some as unfitting, or just sounds older than you'd expect Zamasu to sound, since he sounds nothing like Creator/ShinichiroMiki, Zamasu's Japanese actor, who gave a great performance in the original version and gave what some felt to be a ToughActToFollow performance. Luckily, Marsters has been able to impress most of the skeptics, as his performance steadily got much better after starting off good already. People have reportedly been in awe of Marsters' screams in the last episodes of the Funimation dub broadcast.

*** In June of 2017, Chris Ayres had to check himself into the hospital due to suffering from COPD (Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease) and emphysema, which will require major surgery to replace his lungs, thus resulting in him taking a long break from voice acting. Luckily, they have a good soundalike to fill in the role, Daman Mills, who started voicing Frieza in the last several minutes of episode 26 and will most likely be taking over the role from him for Frieza's future appearances from the show and video games.
*** In the English dub of ''VideoGame/DragonBallXenoverse2'', Hit was voiced by Aaron Roberts. In the dub of the Champa Arc, he's voiced by Creator/MatthewMercer.

* AnimeFirst: The series is being produced specifically for television, with a story written by ''Franchise/DragonBall'' creator Creator/AkiraToriyama. There ''is'' a manga adaptation (drawn by "Creator/{{Toyotaro}}", who also did the ''Dragon Ball Heroes: Victory Mission'' and ''Anime/DragonBallZResurrectionF'' manga) that goes off of Toriyama's same plot outline with a closer level of supervision from Toriyama himself (to the point of occasionally rewriting sections,mostly jokes), plus Toyotaro's own twists, but the anime is the main product.
