The series had a proper conclusion.

** Season 8 ran into extensive delays due to scripts being scrapped and the COVID-19 pandemic forcing a long pause in production. Once it was shot, however, NBC decided to dump the season's episodes in the middle of summer and burn them off in just four weeks to end its obligation to the cancelled series as fast as possible rather than give it a slot in its fall schedule.

** Before this, Andy Samberg was mostly known for playing insufferable, incompetent, JerkAss, immature manchild types. Jake '''is''' immature much of the time, but he is also a very competent detective who cares about his friends and eventually becomes a devoted [[spoiler: husband and father]]. He also shows a great deal of personal growth throughout the series' run.

Not trivia.

* CelebrityParadox: ''Series/SaturdayNightLive'', which had B99 star Andy Samberg on it for several years, apparently exists in this world, and Peralta even interacts with the real Creator/AdamSandler... who apparently doesn't notice how much the detective resembles his ''Film/ThatsMyBoy'' co-star.
** NY Times crossword editor Will Shortz cameos as failed crossword designer Sam Jepson, despite Shortz being mentioned by name multiple times in the series.
** ''Series/MrRobot'' has been mentioned multiple times throughout the show. Craig Robinson, who plays Doug Judy aka The Pontiac Bandit, has a recurring role in its second season.
** ''Series/ThisIsUs'' gets a shoutout in "Grey Star Mutual"...four episodes after star Sterling K Brown appeared as a suspect Jake interrogates.
** Gina sees ''Theatre/{{Hamilton}}'' in the Season 4 episode "Captain Latvia." Apparently no one's noticed the fact that Amy's brother David (who appears in Season 6's "The Golden Child") looks exactly like the [[Creator/LinManuelMiranda composer, lyricist, and original star of the show.]]
** Creator/EricRoberts plays Jimmy "The Butcher" Figgis in season 4. Not only is ''Film/TheDarkKnight'' mentioned by name in the show twice, Adrian Pimento is mentioned to have loved it, despite working undercover investigating Figgis and never once noticing how much the man looks like Sal Maroni.

* CastingGag:
** This isn't the first time that Andre Braugher has played [[Series/HomicideLifeOnTheStreet an uber-serious and imposing police officer]]. But unlike the grim and gritty environment of urban realism that Detective Frank Pembleton starred in, Captain Ray Holt operates in a comedic setting populated by goofy eccentrics. On top of that, Frank Pembleton was the brilliant-but-arrogant lone-wolf cop who refused to play with others and had to be pressured into doing so by his commanding officer. In ''Brooklyn Nine-Nine'', Ray Holt is the commanding officer who has to deal with an arrogant lone-wolf detective who refuses to play with others and has to be pressured into doing so (Peralta). And to finish the gag off, on the earlier show Braugher played the partner of a detective who eventually came out as bisexual, while in this show he plays an openly gay police officer.
*** Braugher won awards for his dramatic character role on Homicide (and ''Thief'', and ''Men of a Certain Age''), and Captain Holt's main character trait is...being TheStoic. It takes a really good actor to emote that little.
** Melvin Stermley, the crossword puzzle writer who Jake worries Amy has more chemistry with, is played by David Fumero, [[RealLifeRelative Melissa Fumero's real-life husband]].
** Failed crossword designer Sam Jepson is played by the famous NY Times crossword editor Will Shortz
** Peralta and Santiago's respective fathers are [[Series/TheWestWing Josh Lyman and Matt Santos]]

* {{Corpsing}}: In "[[Recap/BrooklynNineNineS2E06JakeAndSophia Jake and Sophia]]", during the ColdOpen when Holt says "I'd like to play", Rosa's actress Stephanie Beatriz corpses and tries to cover her mouth with her hand. In the rest of the scene she's stoic as usual for Rosa. It was probably the really quick way the "I'd like to play" line is delivered in that and previous takes that caused the corpsing. And narrowly avoided at the end of the scene, after Holt's "hot damn!" The immediate cut to the opening credits following it was required because, according to Stephanie Beatriz, no one could keep straight faces long enough to properly finish the take.

** Creator/MelissaFumero isn't a fan of the patrol uniform she had to wear for the later seasons as the fabric was stiff, the cut made it difficult to move, and belt was actually loaded with real and heavy equipment. Some of this was alleviated by switching to foam-replica props and leaving some pouches and pockets empty.

** Season 5 was hit hard when it and its lead-in, ''Series/TheMick'', aired against ''Series/ThisIsUs'', another show with a huge internet following. Fox then moved ''Brooklyn'' to Sundays at 8:30[[note]]Where it originally aired during season 2 and the first half of season 3[[/note]] halfway though the season, where ratings improved. Fans believed that they were giving the show another chance and would renew it, but after Fox saw the stellar ratings ''Series/{{Roseanne}}'' was getting, they decided to revamp their comedy lineup by cancelling every single-camera sitcom they had (''Brooklyn'' was one of them), and replaced them with multi-camera sitcoms (which fits ''Roseanne''). As mentioned below, there was a huge backlash and just a day later, NBC picked up the show for a sixth season. The showrunners, for their part, don't bear any ill will towards Fox saying that they were able to make the show the way it is because Fox executives gave them the necessary freedom and support.

*** In a case of "Screwed by the Affiliate" the air time of the finale had to be moved up by an hour in the New York City market because NBC's affiliate was required to air the New York Giants Thursday Night Football game that was starting at the same time. Many fans in the area were unaware of this due to a lack of alerts on social media and TV guides still showing an 8PM EST airing and were disappointed when they tuned in to NBC right before 8, only to find they were watching the final minutes of the episode.
