Ken Liu (born 1967) is an American author of Chinese descent. Initially a software engineer and lawyer, he began publishing fiction in 2002, and writes primarily in the Science Fiction and Fantasy genres. He gained renown with his short stories, which have been published in various sci-fi anthologies. In particular The Paper Menagerie is the first story to win the Hugo, Nebula, and World Fantasy Awards. He has also written longform fiction, such as the novel series The Dandelion Dynasty beginning with The Grace of Kings.

Liu is also a translator of Chinese literature into English. Most prominently, he translated two installments of Remembrance of Earth's Past trilogy, which subsequently gained renown among the English-language SF/F audience. He's also written for Star Wars's expanded universe.

Adaptations of his work include Pantheon and the "Good Hunting" episode of Love, Death & Robots.
