Ken Liu (born 1967) is an American author of Chinese descent. Initially a software engineer and lawyer, he began publishing fiction in 2002, and writes primarily in the ScienceFiction and {{Fantasy}} genres. He gained renown with his short stories, which have been published in various sci-fi anthologies. In particular ''The Paper Menagerie'' is the first story to win the UsefulNotes/{{Hugo|Award}}, UsefulNotes/{{Nebula|Award}}, and World Fantasy Awards. He has also written longform fiction, such as the novel series ''The Dandelion Dynasty'' beginning with ''Literature/TheGraceOfKings''.

Liu is also a translator of Chinese literature into English. Most prominently, he translated two installments of ''Literature/RemembranceOfEarthsPast'' trilogy, which subsequently gained renown among the English-language SF/F audience. He's also written for ''Franchise/StarWars'''s expanded universe.

Adaptations of his work include ''WesternAnimation/{{Pantheon}}'' and the [[Recap/LoveDeathAndRobotsGoodHunting "Good Hunting"]] episode of ''WesternAnimation/LoveDeathAndRobots''.
