''Prison School'' (監獄学園 / "Kangoku Gakuen") is a 2011-2017 {{seinen}} series by Akira Hiramoto (of ''Manga/MeAndTheDevilBlues'' fame).

* GenderedOutfit: The male prison outfits are the [[InstitutionalApparel classic black and white horizontal striped jumpsuit]]. The female version has the same color pattern but consist of a [[FormFittingWardrobe very tight top]] that [[BareYourMidriff shows off their midriff]], tight cropped capri pants, and lower-cut loafers worn without socks that show more of their ankles.

* {{Gainaxing}}: Most which comes from Meiko since her clothes don't exactly keep her large breasts in. It's no surprise that there are a lot instances of her breasts bouncing all over the place.

* {{Gonk}}: All the characters in the series are normal looking with the exception of Andre who is large, has an egg shaped body, a face that is way too small for the rest of his head, and over-sized Budha-like earlobes.

** Mari appears rather cold with an ominous air about her, but cares for those she considered her friends and takes responsibility for her own misdeeds.

** Hana dresses conservatively and is shown to have a rather innocent mind... But is one of the biggest perverts in the story.
** Gakuto talks like as if he had a massive ego, but he is among the nicest guys in the series, rarely acts selfish, and in fact willing to sacrifice his dignity to help his friends.

* SpitTrailKiss: Let's just say that the infamous kiss between Kiyoshi and Hana was taken UpToEleven in the final episode of the first season. Viewers see Kiyoshi and Hana breathing heavily, their bodies shaking violently from the force of the kissing, their tongues moving back and forth (from a POV ''inside'' Hana's mouth) and swapping copious amounts of spit... you get the idea.

* PantyShot: There are a lot of panels that have Meiko's panties in view because of her short skirt and in many cases the panels [[MaleGaze are angled right under her]].

* CompensatedDating: A variant occurs where Hana pays Kiyoshi (Who was totally clueless) to go out with her.

* IfICantHaveYou: Hana decided to ruin Kiyoshi's Love Confession to Chiyo. It was clearly done out of jealousy but Hana continued to delude herself saying that it was for Chiyo's sake.

* LoveConfession: [[spoiler:Kiyoshi finally, ''finally'' gives his to Chiyo in the last arc. He also ends up telling her about every lewd and deplorable thing he did while in Hachimitsu, leading her (initially) to accept his feelings and his negative side because she likes him too.]]

** Running out of options, Hana intervened during the Love Confession event itself to gave Chiyo a disparaging account of Kiyoshi in the hopes that Chiyo will reject him. [[spoiler: She succeeds]].
** Subverted: There was just one instance she showed kindness to Kiyoshi, when she helped Kiyoshi plan his love confession.

* RelationshipSabotage: After the sports festival, Chiyo asks Hana to give Kiyoshi a note for her. She rips it up and shoves it in Kiyoshi's face, and in the aftermath Kiyoshi misreads the letter scraps as a declaration of hate. Additionally, during the confession event itself, Hana also intervened to gave Chiyo a disparaging account of Kiyoshi in the hope that Chiyo will reject his love confession. [[spoiler: She succeeds.]]

* DangerouslyShortSkirt: Meiko wears a hip-length skirt which exposes her panties almost every time she bends over.

* AbusivelySexyWoman: Meiko punishes the boys a lot and provides most of the fanservice for the series. There are numerous cases of her doing both at the same time like when she whips Kiyoshi in the butt and Gakuto's groin, [[AssKicksYou while sitting on Gakuto's face]]. For at least first couple days of their sentence all of the boys actually like being abused by her because she's attractive, and they get to see her panties while she disciplines them.

** Happens to Meiko again, to her CatSuit and her panties, all on separate occasions. A pattern emerges.

** Meiko suffers one in Chapter 78 when she can't get the zipper on her CatSuit undone. She ends up having to tear the whole thing off and use the toilet nude.

* ClingyCostume: Meiko wears an extremely tight CatSuit to patrol the school grounds at night, but when she tries to take it off to use the restroom the zipper gets stuck. She ends up having to tear the zipper off and use the toilet nude.

* InterruptedIntimacy: Kiyoshi and Hana get interrupted ''right'' [[http://mangafox.me/manga/kangoku_gakuen/v10/c116/16.html when they were]] [[http://mangafox.me/manga/kangoku_gakuen/v10/c116/17.html about to give into their]] [[BelligerentSexualTension BST]]. Dammit Mitsuko!

* LoveConfession: [[spoiler:Kiyoshi finally, ''finally'' gives his to Chiyo in the last arc. He also ends up telling her about every lewd and deplorable thing he did while in Hachimitsu, leading her (Initially) to accept his feelings and his negative side because she likes him too.]]

* {{Fainting}}:

** Hana betrayed the USC to join the ASC after she had finished serving her time in the prison. It was all an act though, since she was playing the part of a ReverseMole.

* ReverseMole: Hana fakes defection to the Aboveground Student Council to act as Mari's mole.

* ThirdWheel: Hana admits that she's somewhat resentful of the fact that Mari and Meiko have known each other for much longer and seem to have a closer friendship to each other than they do her. Along with a some blackmail, Kate takes advantage of these feelings to get her to split from the USC and join the regular student council. [[ReverseMole Or at least so it initially seems.]]

* ZettaiRyouiki: Mistsuko wears a type C and Meiko a type A.

** On the first instance, he gets pierced with Meiko's stiletto after she slips on her own sweat after doing squats over an opening of a sewer drain in which Kiyoshi was crawling around as training for his breakout; [[IAintGotTimeToBleed he didn't even notice how badly he bled until Shingo points it out to Meiko]] when she asked why Kiyoshi was taking too long in the restroom (it was part of his plan), explaining that he has hemorrhoids.

* JustForFun/IThoughtThatWas: Anzu gets two tickets for her and Shingo to watch ''Film/TheGrapesOfWrath'' which is a very subdued film about farming conditions during the Great Depression, but the title causes the two to mistake it for something akin to ''Film/AttackOfTheKillerTomatoes'' ...Or at least Shingo did, Anzu knew exactly what the movie was and used it to bore Shingo asleep to mess with his sense of time so he'd be late for his curfew.

* NonuniformUniform: The USC members wear their uniforms differently from the other female students. Mari wears ProperTightsWithASkirt (she's the school's chairman's daughter after all), Meiko has her CustomUniformOfSexy, and Hana wears jersey pants under her skirt.

* DepartmentOfRedundancyDepartment: Mari's plan to get the boys expelled is dubbed "Operation DTO", with O standing for Operation. Meiko sees this, but is conflicted about potentially making her look like a fool. When Hana points it out however, Mari [[JustTestingYou nonchantly claims]] that it was a SecretTestOfCharacter to see if they could catch her mistake.

* EasyAmnesia: For a time, Hana blocks out what happened between her and Kiyoshi in the nurse's room after fainting from the shock.

* IKissYourFoot: During the boys first day in prison Meiko orders Andre to lick her boots for shielding Jo from one of her beatings. She relents when Kiyoshi points out that she's taking things too far. Oddly enough Andre gets angry at Kiyoshi since [[TooKinkyToTorture he actually likes being bullied by Meiko.]]

* PostKissCatatonia: Hana after Kiyoshi turns her kiss back on her. Understandable since she outright fainted from excitement.

* BetweenMyLegs: Most of the scenes involving Meiko are shot from this angle.

* DidntThinkThisThrough: Meiko and Kate rush to the airport to catch up to Mari before her flight leaves. Unfortunately, they were is such a hurry they [[spoiler: didn't think to find out which airport Mari is flying from]] and by the time they realize their mistake it's too late.

* DeusAngstMachina: A big one relative to a comedy series. For the past few days before the BBQ, Chiyo continued with her naive optimism that people are planning a surprise birthday party for her. Not only did that not happen, [[spoiler:Hana meets her only to give her a disparaging account of Kiyoshi, whom she had a crush on. Kiyoshi arrives, and not only did he not know its her birthday, he gave his love confession while at the same time admitting to all the crazy things he did with Hana. Chiyo, ever the understanding girl, still chose to accept both the good and bad side of him. Seeing this causes Hana give up trying to prevent the two from dating and give them her blessing on their relationship... Well, she tries to do that but instead has a change of heart and decide she simply can not allow Kiyoshi to date Chiyo. So she reveals to Chiyo one last lie that Kiyoshi told her - He did not leave Hana's panties in his drawer. He's actually been wearing them to make a love confession to Chiyo, and in the shock of that revelation completely shatters Chiyo's trust in Kiyoshi and men in general.]]
