It's possible people are paying to see precisely that, making her career AnAesop about the inanity of fandom, or something.

** Perhaps somewhat justified in that the angry masses were being egged on by te cultists, but otherwise yes - this trope is played fairly straight.

A single-volume manga by JunjiIto. Like the rest of his works, it's filled to the brim with plenty of BodyHorror, [[EldritchAbomination Eldritch Abominations]], and general HighOctaneNightmareFuel.

Nor is, for that matter, who were the first three cultists who wanted to sacrifice Remina, or why Goda had a tongue similar to planet Remina's when he was dressed as a cultist.]]

* MalevolentMaskedMen: The [[www.mangafox.com/manga/hellstar_remina/v01/c002/34.html cultists]], with their {{black cloak}}s and [[InTheHood hoods]] similar to those of the Ku Klux Klan.

* BlueAndOrangeMorality: Planet Remina, possibly. There's evidence that the planet is not only alive, but sentient. But who's to say that planets capable of sustaining life don't just taste better? [[FridgeBrilliance Which may be why it savors Earth, after having eaten other planets quite rapidly.]]
** Notice it takes the time to actually eat Mars and the Moon, which are stated to have bases, whereas it just smashes and absorbs the gas giants. It definitely prefers life.

* DiabolusExMachina: The "star" is a living GiantSpaceFleaFromNowhere. Beyond the fact that it's from an alternate dimension, no explanation is given.

* LighterAndSofter: Given JunjiIto's usual work, this actually qualifies. It ends on a surprisingly upbeat note, with a message about hope and the value of human life.

* [[WhatTheHellTownspeople What The Hell, Townspeople?]]: The entire planet turns against a teenaged girl, whom they'd previously adored, just because she shares a name with the planet that's going to eat them.

* WholePlotReference: In short, [[ShapedLikeItself Hellstar Remina]] is the story of [[MarvelUniverse Galactus]] with no [[Comicbook/FantasticFour super]][[Comicbook/TheAvengers heroes]] to save us, and taken to it's [[UpToEleven horrifying, logical extreme]]...

* FridgeHorror: As if it wasn't terrifying enough, [[spoiler: the man whose helmet was taken off almost appeared to have been absorbed into the planet's surface, transforming into another blob of eyes and tongues. [[AndIMustScream What if he's still sentient?]] ]]

** The creature itself. Think about these two factors for a minute; the title is called "[=HELLstar=] Remina" and it came from another dimension...the title may very well imply it came from hell...
